macaro , in Outrage as China hospital charges patient fee for sitting down on a chair while receiving an intravenous infusion as health authority says fee is in line with regulations

I spent about $3,000 for two different GI doctors to tell me they didn’t know what my issues were. One visit to a dietician and she said I should eat more food. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Diplomjodler3 ,

I would have told you that for $1500.

riskable ,
@riskable@programming.dev avatar

Amateurs! They should’ve charged $4000 and handed you some terrible “medical food” on the way out.

Thank you for sharing this, their claims to the whole territory of the sea are ludicrous.

How very american of them.

Diplomjodler3 ,

I use this very phrase as a response to poor customer service/poor behavior in general on a far too regular basis.

PugJesus ,
Letstakealook ,

Naw, look at the actual cost of the fee they are complaining about and the total cost of the bill. If they want to get on America’s level, they need to get those numbers up. That’s rookie shit.

xep , in South China Sea: Chinese academics urged to ‘construct narratives’ to defend maritime claims by China

Occasionally, the SCMP posts something like this, where the title seems to support a non-CCP viewpoint. If you read the content of the article, however, it merely reiterates the reasons the CCP claim the South China Sea.

0x815 OP ,

Yes, I fully agreed. Usually I don’t post the SCMP as it is Chinese state-controlled media. I did it in that case (and in another post in this community) as it provides a glimpse into Chinese propaganda planning. This is why I posted it here, but please let me know if you think I am mistaken.

Aviandelight , in Outrage as China hospital charges patient fee for sitting down on a chair while receiving an intravenous infusion as health authority says fee is in line with regulations
@Aviandelight@mander.xyz avatar

So this is China’s take on Facility fees. They just actually have the balls to list what the charge actually entailed.

mecfs , in Outrage as China hospital charges patient fee for sitting down on a chair while receiving an intravenous infusion as health authority says fee is in line with regulations

I don’t like this source:

Since the change of ownership in 2016, concerns have been raised about the paper’s editorial independence and self-censorship. Critics including The New York Times, Der Spiegel, and The Atlantic have alleged that the paper is on a mission to promote China’s soft power abroad.[9][10]

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_China_Morning_Post

0x815 OP ,

I don’t like the source either, and usually I never link to SCMP or other Chinese propaganda media. In that case, however, I made an excemption (maybe it wasn’t a good idea, just let me know that) as the article doesn’t promote China’s official agenda. The article is highly critical of the Chinese health system, even citing ordinary citizens’ posts, and it comes from a paper like SCMP.

mecfs ,

in this case I would have mentioned that in the post. Just so people are informed.

0x815 OP ,

That’s right. Done.

mecfs ,

cheers! Thank you for the polite conversation on Lemmy. Which is unfortunately rare in politics/news communities :)

It has, but it shouldn’t be.

But I also really can’t bring myself to care about this. Assange has fans, including rich ones, that are willing to give him money to help cover his debts. That’s far less surprising than Trump fans giving him money to help cover his debts.

Awesome! Thank you for this!

TexasDrunk ,

I hate to say it, but Amazon Handmade is the only one stop shop I’ve found that can compete so far. I’m hoping that changes soon.

Depending on what you want there are specific marketplaces dealing in it. Aftcra tried to do American handcrafted stuff but they closed down recently. Most of the places are just T-shirt or other textile printing on demand or they give you the tools to make your own storefront without the cohesive “search everything we’ve got” format of Etsy.

That’s what I’ve found, which means I could be way the fuck off base because I’m just a drunk and I’m not passionate about handmade goods unless I happen to run across them locally.

adarza ,

started going downhill around the time they went public (2015). chasing higher stock prices instead of attracting quality sellers of actual handmade goods.

Would be extremely funny if the Dem response to Trump was to seed the election with their own brand of C-List celebrity.

But our country simply isn’t that cool.

Please, Tankies, keep telling me how China is a communist country.

todd_bonzalez ,

Look, if Americans could get this outraged over an 70 extra cents on a medical bill, we’d be a lot better off.

But in America, they’d bill us an extra $2,000 for the same, and we’d just add it to our debts and carry on without even burning down an insurance company like we should be doing.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Would you argue that medical bills would exist at all in a communist country? Because that was my point.

    I may be an utter idiot, but it’s weird how you aren’t billed for healthcare in a lot of non-communist countries.

    I guess universal healthcare is capitalism.

    cygnus ,
    @cygnus@lemmy.ca avatar

    Free healthcare and more than a few weeks’ maternity leave is capitalism. Communism is when billionaires and private real estate, and the more of those you have, the communismer it is.

    Dkarma ,

    This medical bill is $30 USD. How the fuck is this capitalist???

    For anyone mad at this…in the US the don’t just charge you .70 for a chair they charge you hundreds or thousands for the whole room.

    Be more honest. You look like a fool.

    FlyingSquid ,

    Cool. You know how much a medical bill is in Canada?

    $0 USD. Also $0 CAD. Also 0 Yuan.

    Agreed. I wonder how many of them have actually been to China. I have, and it’s almost comically un-communist. Most western democracies have far more robust social supports, and I’d even say it’s easier to have a worker-owned business in the west than in China.
