Don’t forget who endorsed the conservative…

Hillary Clinton endorses George Latimer in challenge to unseat Jamaal Bowman

Democrats fight harder against progressives in their own party than they fight against the Republican policy they are elected to suppress.

Who cares? Your being born adjacent to someone doesn’t matter.

BertramDitore ,
@BertramDitore@lemmy.world avatar

Okay, instead let’s care because she’s an activist and founder and director of a foundation that advocates for disabled children. Seems like she matters to a lot of people, despite who her half-brother is.

some_guy ,

I wish that was part of the headline because that’s actually pretty great.

stembolts ,

Which I assume is why her familial relationship was not the focus of the article.

Doom ,

You genuinely care this person was born adjacent to someone else otherwise you wouldn’t have even cared

some_guy ,

I care that a headline was wasted as a result.

zabadoh , in Title IX Mandates Universities to Accommodate Students Who Have Had Abortions. Texas Is Suing.

Is “Have you had an abortion?” going to be on Texas college application forms?

If so, will there be room for an accompanying essay?

Block cookies or use an ad-on that does. Wired has a weak paywall

Crackhappy ,
@Crackhappy@lemmy.world avatar

I have been on the internet before the world wide web was invented, and I still do not use an ad blocker. Not because I don’t understand why people use them, but because I refuse to subscribe to the world that needs them. Kinda why I am on Lemmy, and why I donate a lot of money to keep it going.

EDIT for the younguns: Old man yells at sky.

voracitude ,

I dunno man, being born before automobiles wouldn’t exempt you from looking both ways before you cross the street when you live in a world where cars are commonplace 🤷‍♀️

I will reply to this again, out of sheer obstinance. I’m not made of raw stupid. I have had defense in depth employed for 20 years, if someone had managed to penetrate past the outermost moat, then I would be concerned. That hasn’t happened yet. Until then, keep your opinions to yourself. you yahoo

catloaf ,

Obviously not, if you’re not using an ad blocker…

littlebluespark ,
@littlebluespark@lemmy.world avatar

Yep, that tracks.

AceSLS ,

Except that ad blockers also provide protection against malware, phishing and tracking. Having no ad blocker on is like having a one night stand over and over again without ever using a condom. Might work out for years on end, until you finally get infected

Awwww I don’t mind the downvotes at all my friend. I’m hungry, and I eat them for breakfast. ;)

Your analogies are insane 🤣

I just can’t imagine being riled up and afraid enough any ads that you actually put them in the same category of STD.

Gen z and millennial panic like folks being afraid of D&D.

IsThisAnAI ,
  1. imagine being crazy enough to think seatbelt and ad blockers would be a good comparison
  2. yep, let people do what they want with their own safety, progressives are basically creating fascists.

Oh no! And if this one internet person had just seen this article, the whole problem would have been solved.

Forget the victims, look at how we as society have failed this specific internet person. Shame on us!

/s

You’r basically saying as loud and selfishly as you can that your protest of how shitty the internet is takes precedence over victims of actual sex crimes. Interesting, when you could have just been mildly frustrated and then moved along like the rest of us do.

skye ,
@skye@lemmy.world avatar

Or maybe he’s saying the company’s desire for profits took precedence over allowing people to read actual sex crimes and be upset about it.

Plus his first concern was the victims clearly, after having clicked the linka nd being blocked off from accessing it by a paywall. Maybe you should have taken your advice and moved along

PenguinMage , in An $18 Big Mac meal sparked a revolt against high prices. Companies are finally listening

Until these assholes stop taking in record profits each year & their ceos get more money than some countries generate they can fuck off on saying wages are a problem. The working poor deserve every penny they can get.

joekar1990 ,

Agree. None of these CEOs have any groundbreaking ideas either. It’s all the same strategies for short term profits rather than longer sustainable growth.

ArbiterXero ,

They’re paid in stock, so line must go up because MONEY.

ArbiterXero ,

That’s just it, as a business owner, some years may be good, and some years may be bad.

So some years your profit should be less.

That doesn’t mean you’re going under. Less profit is still profit. That means everyone (including yourself) has been paid and you have money left over.

But because CEOs are paid mostly in stock, the profits have to rise every year, for no necessary reason besides “I like money”

And eventually that’ll break, and it’ll happen all at once.

stembolts , in Republican support for marriage equality drops as conservatives ramp up anti-trans panic

It’s an interesting wager that more people hate than not. I don’t think it’s compatible with the upcoming generations’ perspectives, which is why I assume they are investing so much into radicalizing children on social media. More soldiers for the culture war.

Viking_Hippie ,

People in general? Probably not.

Republicans? Definitely.

I don’t think it’s compatible with the upcoming generations’ perspectives, which is why I assume they are investing so much into radicalizing children on social media. More soldiers for the culture war.

Bullseye.

Burn_The_Right ,

I agree. Sadly, if conservatives achieve a win-condition this November, it won’t matter at all what younger people think. And it never will again.

SuddenDownpour , in Rep. Jamaal Bowman loses New York primary to pro-Israel George Latimer, most expensive primary race ever

A lobby heavily aligned with the interests of a foreign power being capable of dropping by and dumping tons of money in order to place politicians loyal to their agenda in positions of power is not a sign of a healthy democracy.
