It’s always so frustrating to see the same jokes and snark about Phoenix because most people will just accept that at face value, laugh, and move on. Phoenix gets hot, yea, but not like this otherwise it wouldn’t be newsworthy.
The summers bring heat but also usually rains, monsoons actually. They punctuate the stretches of heat bringing cooler temps and much needed relief. These usually start in June and occur regularly for the duration of summer but haven’t this year. People have lived in the area for thousands of years, this is abnormal and not as simple as “people live in hot area and complain about heat”.
I haven’t seen a protocol exception on sourcing research subjects, but I’m sure one was in place during covid, and I will bet real money these clowns were selling test mice, their paperwork was in faded crayon, they got paid 100x the normal prices, and unlike everyone else they just were too stupid to shut down and get out while the getting was good.
Yellow has been a horribly managed mess for at least 25 years. I was involved in LTL logistics back then and we avoided those dunderheads like the plague. It’s a shame that they’re taking $500 MIllion of taxpayer money with them since they can’t repay their loan but that company should have died years ago.
People just have different tolerance for how much death is caused by their own existence, your gonna kill something regardless to survive, that is life. I am not really to judge, especially a culture that I have very little interaction with.
A lot of people on this thread are saying the consequences of these policies is intentional.
I don’t give them that much credit. I don’t think they fully understand the consequences of these policies. And as things go to shit, they will just blame liberals.
And this is all really sad. There are some really nice parts of Florida, with some really nice people. Fucking sucks. Oh well.
I passed this comment up and considered it. Many conservatives dearly believe that children are brainwashed by colleges and that there is no reason for higher education.
Couple this with anti science and hate for any art that offends people, and I’m having a hard time believing that harming higher education is NOT a goal.
I’m convinced these types of arguments are from republicans trying to garner sympathy for the poor stupid people, how could they have known! See they’re really not that bad guys, they just don’t know any better!

As someone who has lived their whole life around these people, I can assure you many of them really have drunk the kool-aid. It’s honestly all quite sad, and has cost me a number of friendships.
It’s even more sinister than that. An uneducated populace is good for the ruling class. They have more children on average and will believe the lies more willingly.
The Republican party has been trying to destroy the education system for decades. Not only do they not want the poors getting educated (more malleable labor), they want to privatize education (vouchers, divert more public money to private hands).
Man either the guy really thought he was going to beat this or he just needed a reason to hang on: “…he recently penned the first draft of his upcoming memoir. He had also put the finishing touches on two more Pee-wee movie scripts and was developing projects for television, including a variety show and a western called Fancypants.”
