God I hate the “let that sink in” fad. It’s just an immediate intellectual turn off. I don’t ever need to let it sink in and usually when people say it I doubt they have something so profound to need sinking in.
Why did adding this little bit of context get downvoted? Yes it’s still a ridiculous requirement to require a doctors note if someone wants to wear a mask to protect themselves from illness but OP wasn’t commenting on that, just adding context. If we want this place to be better than Reddit we really should only use the downvote button against posts and comments that are off-topic, inflammatory, or trolling
I agree. That commenter may have been trolling but as a personal rule I only downvote people being rude or people I KNOW are disingenuous from other interactions. If I disagree I just move on.
Definitely not trolling. I saw the news elsewhere and this post was missing what I considered an important piece of information in the title. But yeah I guess brevity failed me.
I dislike this move by my favorite burger joint, but I also dislike headlines that are crafted for more outrage than is deserved. Even if it’s just a teaspoon more.

Recently we had an exceptionally cold winter staying below freezing for multiple days. Since winter is usually fairly temperate with most days having lows in the 40s (I usually only use the heater at night and have windows open during the day). and only going a degree or two below freezing for a couple of hours, a lot of houses here are not particularly suited to cold weather. We have fairly inefficient resistive electric heat in many houses, and pipes are not particularly well insulated for cold weather.
It got well below freezing for a couple of days, and already several power plants were shut down for maintenance since winter is typically low demand. Anyway, all of this combined to result in the grid being overloaded, doing rolling blackouts, and then peoples pipes froze as well because of that.
Also the Texas power grid is isolated from the other US grids so importing power is not an option.
Since then I have noticed a lot more solar farms, mini natural gas peaker plants/backup generators and other upgrades being put in on backroads when I go for a motorcycle ride.
THE POORLY WRITTEN SENTENCE with the typo right at at the punchline doesn’t help her case: “The contract was six months, because that’s how long it’d take the AI would learn to write just like me but better, faster, and cheaper.” Yep. Better than that.
These types of laws are sick and barbaric and not indicitive of a civilised society! These woman should not have to revisit their trauma but they are fucking made to by a sick group of degenerates who make laws that the majority simply don’t want!
