Parler was unable to function. Liberals rejoiced & jeered, conservatives were understandably distraught.
Somehow Truth Social exists, via Mastodon & some weird-ass open source structure. Nobody cares about Truth Social, though.
Basically this post is mocking the Republicans, conservatives for feeble attempts to grassroots build an internet presence. And not having robust contingency plans in place, and owning every step of the process, to ensure it could not be disrupted or fucked with.

tl;dr the company Taylor manufactures the ice cream machines to fail without any explanation or diagnosis process, then charge wildly exorbitant fees to fix them, and cut McD’s in on the profit. Some franchises found ways around this and McD’s just ordered them to stop. So the franchises just leave them broken as often as possible.
I’m very wary of installing more extensions since I heard how many lucrative requests extension devs get from third parties for allowing them to enshittify their software.
It’s FOSS. You can verify that the code doesn’t make any malicious requests. The only requests it should make are to GitHub/Codeberg to update the list of instances.
Wow, didn’t think something like that had happened. That is a valid concern. However, it could be mitigated by disabling auto update and subscribing to the GitHub releases via RSS. Then you can either manually check for malicious commits, or if the extension is more popular, wait a bit for any bad news to come out about the update. Obviously, this isn’t possible for everyone and every extension, so I can understand why people would be cautious of more extensions, but I think Libredirect is a big enough extension that you would hear about it, like the case with Nano Adblocker.
I’ve just blocked YT in my browser, and use https://freetubeapp.io/ instead. It’s a desktop app, so I don’t have to deal with cookies and storage being deleted after every session, just as i can do subscriptions to channels without requiring an account.
So far, it has been an amazing experience, I totally recommend it. And I second the point about Nano AdBlcoker, since I’ve also been one of the victims, since at the time Nano Defender was one of the alternatives pretty well recommended on Reddit, that was better at avoiding anti-adblock scripts. Plus, any extension you have only makes you easier to fingerprint, thus defeating the point of VPN or privacy focused browser. Especially with Mullvad browser + VPN, which is especially build on the idea of sharing the exact same fingerprint with every other Mullvad VPN user.
It’s bewildering to me that, after decades of getting (deservedly) dunked on by Europeans for our shitty systems, not only are American leaders still giving the whole flaming garbage heap the five finger salute, but European leaders are now saying “well, yes, the American system is awful, but we swear it’ll work for us.” And people are believing them. I may not be up to date on events but while streaming he improved a gebderbent version of boys by Lizzo and people liked it so he made a full animation for it.
A small but loud number of people, primarily from outside his community considered the swapping of the genders and/or the platforming of Lizzo to be misogynistic and gave him enough hate that he permanently stepped away from content creation.
I have no idea if anything else has happened since but to my knowledge that’s the event that made him “cancelled”. Imo it’s different to being cancelled because most people are on his side and are supporting him, and everything I’ve seen about this news takes that stance. Him suffering abuse from a few niche corners of the internet and quitting the platforms is not the same as the internet’s collective consciousness turning against him. Metaphorically, he which his workplace due to bullying by people who foybd something he did obscene, he didn’t get fired for it.
