I imagine being a cow in Zootopia is quite lucrative. Not only do you produce a product people want to buy, you can also satisfy more carnal urges by allowing customers to be the ones milking you.

whenigrowup356 , in Hey guys, why is it getting warmer? Did y'all leave the stove on?

The most interesting people are the ones who claim Democratic party identity and yet accept the Republican position on this. I’d be interested to talk to one of these people to learn about their worldviews. Single issue voters for something like abortion? Just don’t like the color red? I need answers.

1rre ,

In other news there are more than two sets of opinions in the world?

This is my biggest irk about two-party systems. Everyone identifies as one or the other when in reality you’re gonna agree with 20-50% of the policies of one and 40-80% of the policies of the other, yet because they identify as a supporter of x party they feel have to pretend they can do no wrong

whenigrowup356 ,

I mean, that’s why I said I’d be interested to talk with someone who espouses that view. Party identification has maybe never been stronger, and the positions of the two parties have never been farther apart on many issues.

Riyosha_Namae ,

Single issue voters for something like abortion?

Or just not single issue voters for climate change.

whenigrowup356 ,

Sure. I think I meant this comment more as trying to understand what kind of information and media a person like that might be consuming to arrive at “climate change is fake and also vote for democrats.” It’s just an interesting cross-section.

My guess would be someone who doesn’t really consume much media at all, or maybe part of the broad subset of “anti-science left” that also end up in some anti-vax conversations

Humans drink human milk, and the milk of other animals. Animals drink the milk of their own species on a regular basis. I will never understand why people get hung up on this in Zootopia as if drinking the milk of other creatures OR the same species is something humans and animals don’t ever do in real life. It’s like y’all just want it to be weird.

ElBarto ,

Don’t you know you’re supposed to dissect every single frame of a movie, so you can point out all of the inaccuracies and vaguely relevant plot holes!

DessertStorms ,
@DessertStorms@kbin.social avatar

I misread your reply, and I think my (slightly tweaked) version is more accurate - Don’t you know you’re supposed to dissect every single frame of a movie, so you can point out all of the insecurities it makes you feel that are vaguely relevant to the plot?

Laticauda ,

This isn’t even an inaccuracy or plot hole, it’s something that we already do in real life.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Humans don’t usually sell their own milk to others or turn it into processed foods; it’s reserved for nursing their own babies. There are no lower animals in Zootopia, they are all anthropomorphic and behave like humans. So them having ice cream is akin to human women selling their milk for the masses to consume. It’s a little strange.

Spiralvortexisalie ,

I can’t say its to the masses per se, but there are many women who sell their excess breast milk online for other mothers, so kind of close?

demystify ,

It’s strange in our culture. Maybe in theirs it isn’t.

rgb3x3 ,

Do people make breast milk ice cream? Probably. Whether or not it could become normal to be sold to people depends on how delicious it is.

Given that it’s not normal, I imagine it’s not delicious.

Risk ,

Apparently human breast milk is sweeter than cow, so it would probably make great ice cream.

I doubt it has anything to do with deliciousness and more to do with taboo and the fact I doubt there’s many volunteers to sit around being milked.

kemsat ,

My wife made so much, when our kiddo was a baby, that I considered something like that.

ILikeBoobies ,

Human milk has a higher sugar content than cow milk so it probably tastes pretty good. I think the lack of supply is due to the taboo of it and the lack of lactating women who want to get milked all day

Humans don’t usually sell their own milk to others

They do though, there’s literally a market for breast milk, especially with women who for whatever reason can’t produce their own.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Is it common? No. Hence why I used the modifier “usually.”

Vegoon ,

Animals drink the milk of their own species on a regular basis

Baby animals. They don’t go around and rape their own kind, kill the kid and steal the milk on a industrial scale.

Perfide ,

Pretty sure only humans drink milk as adults

Laticauda ,

Actually adult cows occasionally drink milk too, it’s just rare because farmers usually don’t allow them to.

Every time I hear the phrase “spread the load” I keep remembering a scene from a movie where some kid jerks off in his pants and then wipes his jizz on a bunch of books in the library. Can’t remember the name of the film, but I remember it had Jeff Daniels in it as the kid’s dad and that one scene.

I'm just glad we all moved away from the "box on wheels" design of 10 years ago. God those were hideous.

wisplike_sustainer ,

I thought box on wheels was 70’s and 80’s. The same era when sports cars were doorstops on wheels. And by all gods, they were hideous.

HikingVet ,

You know how fashion in clothing has a cycle but it is slightly different when it comes back?

Apparently its the same thing with cars.

wisplike_sustainer ,

I suppose you’re right. In my defense, my reference point for “box on wheels” is Volvo 240, and compared to that Volvo S80 doesn’t seem that boxy.

A sizable portion of the population would convince themselves that the sky is green, if that was their party's official position.

And a sizable portion of politicians, of a certain moral character, would take the official position that the sky is green if someone paid them enough.

On an unrelated note, I wonder which party is heavily sponsored by the oil and gas industry?

MisterFrog ,
@MisterFrog@lemmy.world avatar

The answer, like in most countries, is both of the largest parties.

Can’t have the other party get in and get rid of your subsidies, bad for business, ya know?

SuddenDownpour ,

Unfortunately both.

Not that the GOP’s positions on climate change aren’t far more deranged, of course, just noting that the Dems are also heavily influenced by lobbying.
