Rolando , in Seems fishy

18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

20 And they replied back saying, Very well O Lord but there are six fish who have grievously insulted us.

24 Jesus wept.

Read for yourselves, those who doubt.

As someone not subscribed to simpsonsshitposting, I really don’t care if it’s a repost. That community isn’t even on the same instance, so it’s a little like complaining if someone reposts from R*ddit.

Italian as in Italian American?

FYI America is not the only country Italians live in. They also populate a whole country on the other side of the world. The Italian Americans that colonized this country called it Italy and named themselves “Italians” (without “American”, I know, it’s crazy!).

Americans once again making shit more complicated than it needs to be. Most of the world has moved on from cheques to wire transfers, deposits, etc. all done through online banking.

Every transaction is tracked and accounted for. No need for this bullshit.

PlantDadManGuy ,

Because online bank accounts never get hacked, and old demented folks never fall for phishing emails… right?

neeeeDanke ,

Thats what the 2fa for most transfers is for.

CanadianCarl ,

Why is everyone calling them checks? Are we all talking about cheques? I am confused.

EvacuateSoul ,

It’s just the American spelling.

BruceLee ,

I am french, I use cheques , I also use wire transfers and many other bank option but I hope more place would accept my cheque. Also cheque transaction are tracjed and accounted just like others.

EvacuateSoul ,

I’m American, and all of this stuff happens automatically and digitally after I set up any new account. I’m not sure how writing a check would be easier.

Some banks still offer the transitional system I remember where they do it on your behalf, so once you have all your payees, you can go in every month and put in the amounts for each bill, and they mail a check from the bank to each place.

Noita, Hades, Factorio. Three insanely good games without ads or ingame purchases with very high replayability. Just don’t give EA more money, please.

It’s their next update, it’s been a long road to 1.0 but the game is finally feeling complete. They’ve announced the next update will be 1.0, and it’s expected this year.

loo ,
@loo@lemmy.world avatar

For me it’s the opposite haha

SorryQuick ,

I played it when it came out and while it was a fun playthrough and I’m glad I played, it’s nowhere near factorio on replayability. It also feels a lot more shallow, like they put more time into the visuals rather than actual game mechanics. And in the end what killed it for me was the performance. On factorio you can still have decent fps/ups in a 1k hour megabase, satisfactory in the other hand gives up pretty quickly. Mod support is great compared to most games, but doesn’t really come close to factorio.

Electronic Arts started out so differently. The best, highest quality games, sold in album cases like vinyl records. They wanted to make their devs into rock stars. M.U.L.E., Seven Cities of Gold, Archon. Every game was innovative in every way.

Much later they’d changed, shifted toward the dark side, slipping way. But they still managed to bring us two of my favorite MMOs of all time: Motor City Online and Earth and Beyond.

MCO was online multiplayer Need For Speed with real classic American cars with real hot rod parts, the real engines, everything. I’ve not seen anything like it since. Hardly no one wants to pay to license real world cars any more. And you certainly don’t get the real engines with the real hot rod parts.

EAB was a crappy FPS but somehow 2D space game, but it had the best crafting and leveling system. You take things apart eventually learning how to build things. Player built stuff could possibly go was high as 200% quality so other players would want to buy your wares. The leveling system had three distinct lines: exploration, combat, and trade. Play the game how you wanted to having fun your way not how they think you should.

Anyway, EA killed them both, turned off the servers, refused to release the server code so player servers or single player modes were impossible. They sent me a coupon for their new Sims game, though.

So fuck EA. Haven’t bought a single one of their games since.

I found an article on other photos taken during that time. It doesn’t mention this one specifically but it does say there were a whole series of photos staged on beams during construction of the RCA building. It was a promotional photo shoot.

I’d think, for someone who loves China so much, you’d understand the value of a social score telling you that you’re doing a bad thing. Guess you only like to listen when that score is managed by a fascist regime.

Confidant6198 OP ,

Nah that would be the FICO score at the USA. The only fascist regime is the USA

Ignorant? Do you imagine that we haven’t been exposed to exactly the same imperal core propaganda our entire lives as everyone else here? Generally speaking, we know everything that you know. The only difference is that we took the time & effort—and had the intellectual honesty—to learn more.

vzq ,

I feel “the only fascist regime is X” does a huge disservice to a lot of fascists around the world that are hard at work making everyone’s life crappier every single day.

And that’s without going into particulars about the identity of X.

blackberry ,

I have never seen a “social credit score” system. People are more concerned about the household registration (hukou) system. What you refer to as the “social credit card” is actually the social security card. In China, there is a credit rating system called Zhima Credit (Sesame Credit). If you owe a lot of money to the bank, your credit rating will be blacklisted, restricting your ability to make high-end purchases. It seems like you are very good at propaganda. Are there bad things in China? Yes, but Western media often focus their reports on what they consider taboo topics, creating a stereotypical image of China that makes Chinese people look strange. I believe Western media can’t come up with other accusations, so they project their own wrongdoings onto China. Take the example of Xinjiang cotton: Chinese people can’t even conceive of forced labor because we believe that human labor is more expensive than machines, which are faster and more efficient. However, the US had cotton slave plantations in the past, so you hype up this issue.
