I’d also add so-called cloud storage. There is no magical cloud, there’s only someone else’s server/PC. Don’t trust it with personal data ever, or make your own “cloud” instaed.
Bruh they haven’t shut up for the past couple days, I’m using Memmy for now but I guess I better give sync a try since it’s apparently so great. I don’t want ads tho
Connect is very polished. It was my main for a few weeks, but like the hoarder I am, I keep installing apps and switching between them. Right now I’m with arctius, voyager and infinity.
Infinity is not yet feature complete, but browsing feel is very very satisfying. Voyager is the most complete, arctius is like voyager but has less polish less QOL features.
The whole pay a subscription to remove ads really puts me off of sync. Not sure why I would move to a platform with ads no matter the features or look it offered
The thread I read this morning said $20 a year, are you sure they’ve added a permanent option? Still why would I pay that when other apps are ad free for free
On reddit it was only ever really used in the Sync subreddit. It wasn't used often, but with so many settings available it was pretty handy when people did use it to point straight to the one that does what they made a post asking about.
Nearly daily on Android. Would be fucking sick if I could send my parents a direct link to the system setting I’m talking about. Instead I need to send 50 screenshots and circle every button in red.
While I get this characterization of Cap, I’ve never thought cap would be like that. He’s supposed to be the best of the best, not physically or mentally, but morally. His moral compass is absolutely above thinking that rascism is good or homosexuality is bad. He’d probably be seen as a progressive at the time, would probably adapt really well to modern society.
Sorry, Cap is one of my favorites, fanboy gonna fanboy :p
Absolutely agree, got a big crush on Cap so I like to imagine he’s too tuned into the purest version of the 🇺🇸American spirit🇺🇸 to hate. But it is funny to suspend that and think about what if he was just a grumpy old man
I find this really hard to believe. I like going in to work, but I don’t work in a standard office (engineer on industrial site). If I were to be working in an office all day though, no way would I prefer that to home.
Uggg. Ransom is a great way to phrase it. I hate having app’s from the store and they “upgrade” to a subscription service leaving the licensed folks in the cold with no app updates. :/
there’s a software that I own a perpetual license for called “Clip Studio Paint” and they got around that license like scumbags by refusing to provide more updates and making a new software called “Clip Studio Paint 2.0” which was essentially the same software, just without perpetual licenses available… even then, I had already paid a lot and would have had to AGAIN. talk about scum of the earth
If only there was an objective way to measure the productivity of a commercial enterprise… like with money… oh wait, they have been making MORE money? With LESS productive workers? Curious
I’ve never seen all three at once though. Are you sure they aren’t all the same thing? It could be government psyops to convince you dogs and burgers aren’t the same person
Totally bullshit. When I’m in the office I’m constantly approached by coworkers wanting to chit chat. Sometimes even when I’m in a Teams meeting with headphones on.
I probably do the same if not more work at home as I did in the office, but only “work” about 2/3 of the time.
I don’t have a boss lecture me on blockchain for an hour because they were near my desk, I don’t need to listen to Carla’s story about her flat tyre, I don’t need to get constantly distracted when I’m deep in an analysis hole because someone on maternity leave has walked in with their new baby.
The time spent caught up in boring distractions is used to put on some washing, set the roomba going, or put a pot roast in the oven freeing up more time to just chill out later on and I still get everything done.
Never mind the 2 hours a day of commuting time I get back.
Maybe so, but proving without any possible doubt that was the cause is the burden of the fired employee, who also likely doesnt have money for a lawyer, let alone court fees to persue the case in the first place.
This difficulty is only amplified in at-will employment areas where your boss can fire you on the spot for no reason at all.
Its as if the system was built from the ground up to benefit businesses over people.
So if the employee was fired on the spot, that would pretty much guarantee a win in most states unless the boss could show that they had already planned to fire them before they shouted “unionize”.
If the boss fired them a month later, that would be a different story. But yeah, the rest of that is valid.
++ for brother. Still running my mfc j470 ink jet purchased in 2013. I purchased it because of their support of Linux and Android. I’ve NEVER used official ink cartridges besides what came with it. it’s printed 6900 pages
I have a brother B&W laser printer but for anyone looking for a new printer, be wary of brother. Their latest firmware stops the allowance of 3rd party toner/ink cartridges. It’s disappointing because I’ve been a big proponent of theirs for years. Haven’t bought toner since 2019 on our printer.
Brother it is! I have a laser combo scanner printer MFC thingy, I guess from around 2010 or so, still works like a charm as a network device. I buy a third party toner every three years and that’s it.
But those same people don’t work in office either, they just walk around and bullshit all day.
I am way more productive at home than I am in office. Partly purposefully out of spite, and partly because my home work space is better in every way than my office environment. Quieter, more comfortable, better equipment, better internet, even better resilience because of my UPSes.
