Many Lemmy instances have “feddit” in their name. Is that just “federated reddit” or am I missing something?
There have been multiple accounts created with the sole purpose of posting advertisement posts or replies containing unsolicited advertising.

It’s been a while since I’ve last posted about this package and quite a lot has changed since then....
The docs only mention to create an account alias to the old account. However it doesn’t clarify what to do next, as on the account alias page the migration should be done on the old account. I have not found the setting to do this next step.

I was having some issues finding myself in the search on other instances and wanted to see if I’m doing something wrong or if somebody has advice to fix it. Long story short, I’m a fan of Nostr so I’m usually on there. It’s bridged to the fediverse, so that usually gives me my microblogging fix on both sides of the...

These days I searched and try to understand more about Mastodon alternatives, and see Pleroma and Misskey (and his forks) are more lightweight than Mastodon, and saw some people says Mastodon has some security vulnerabilities....
Meta is treading carefully, doing a phased implementation while continuing conversations with Fediverse leaders. This will give the company more time to iron out some of the integration kinks. “Do we adapt the protocol to be able to support this?” Lambert asks. “Or do we try to do some kind of interesting, unique...

Like i wish there was a way i could almost emulate being on my programming.dev account and see all that instances communities while im logged into this account. Afaik theres no easy way to do that without visiting some aggregator website. It...

For our third episode of Decentered, we talked to Ryan Barrett, the creator of Bridgy Fed! Ryan has a lot of experience in working with a variety of decentralized social web protocols, including IndieWeb, ActivityPub, AT Protocol, and Nostr, and has a lot of interesting thoughts on making them talk to each other.
I did a search from shitjustworks for “reddit die” and did not find lemmy.world/c/watchredditdie so I made sh.itjust.works/c/watchredditdie (unnecessarily). This should really not happen. When someone makes a community there should be a “ping” sent out to notify all other federated instances....
