Egalu is me and a couple other peoples idea conceived in a discord movie night. Egalu is going to be built on the activitypub protocol. It is meant to be an FOSS version of facebook, without data selling, transphobes, dickheads, and bot moderation. We expect the first version of this within 3 months (likely not this long, just...
The Mixtape is an ongoing effort by We Distribute to showcase the musicians of the Fediverse and their work. Each issue is a playlist of 10 tracks centered around a theme, that our followers can vote on....
I almost feel like it's October last year, when I pled for improvement on all fronts regarding the Kbin development strategy. Now it seems development has ceased once again and there hasn't been chat on the matrix channels for over a week. Update: that's two weeks now (including his blog) and over a month of no visible...
Hey guys, with all of your help I would like to get a running list of apps for Fediverse platforms. In such a short time we’ve had so many apps develop and they’ve provided some incredible experiences. For those that have been on Fedi for some time, newer and those that will come, these client apps will play major roles in...
Most servers that I am interested on joining are hosted in Europe/US. The ping on those servers are usually 200-400 ms compared to big mastodon instances like fosstodon.org and universeodon.com (20-50 ms). Would this affect the responsiveness in a noticeable way?
Authorized Fetch (also referred to as Secure Mode in Mastodon) was recently circumvented by a stupidly easy solution: just sign your fetch requests with some other domain name.
Next to Mastodon.world and Lemmy.world I am also running Calckey.world. This was running Calckey, a Misskey fork. That was re-branded to FireFish (that’s the danger of running sites with the software name in the URL… :-) )....
I know some of you consider this as documented whining. I hear you but won't stop sharing my opinion and reminding. I recommend continuing commenting on the original post to keep it a bit organized (this post is a link to it)...

When registering a country code domain, keep in mind where the domain is being registered. A shift in government or geopolitics can have serious consequences.
Seems like an interesting effort. A developer is building an alternative Java-based backend to Lemmy’s Rust-based one, with the goal of building in a handful of different features. The dev is looking at using this compatibility to migrate their instance over to the new platform, while allowing the community to use their apps...

Suggested for better post viewing inside Mastodon
I made a blog post on my biggest issue in Lemmy and the proposed solutions for it. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
It seems like any platform that features link aggregation is soon overrun by bots and self-promoters trying to drive traffic, and pages and pages of link posts versus pages and pages of people talking....
TL;DR, Feddit.UK is down, we’re working on making a fun replacement!...

I feel like I may be missing something when it comes to BlueSky, or maybe both I and those trying it out are but in different ways. My understanding is that BlueSky is currently like the Mastodon Social instance is for Mastodon but of the AT Protocol under development, with the long term aim being that once their protocol is...
