in summer 2023, when I moved here from reddit, the lemmy instance beehaw.org was extremely divisive. they wanted to create a website according to certain rules rather than a free for all. some people were saying it would be the end of the threadiverse before it even began....
We recently chatted with two of the devs involved with Bonfire. Honestly, they have some really amazing ideas about building a modular Fediverse platform that developers can build on for their own apps.
Bridgy Fed made a splash earlier this week by announcing its latest progress in connecting the Fediverse to Bluesky and Nostr. Sadly, not everyone was welcoming.
Hi friends, I managed to get a few services running (Mobilizon, Mastodon, PeerTube etc.), and I’m just now realizing that by default none of these federated networks are subscribed to anything?...
The app that synchronizes multiple lemmy accounts so you can migrate and keep backup accounts across instances, it’s opensource and free, currently working in android and windows....

Because what it represents is the triumph of exactly the kind of technology that’s supposed to be impossible: open, empowering tech that’s not owned by any one company, that can’t be controlled by any one company, and that allows people...
Mastodon is a great platform. I have an account there, and I have been using it as a twitter replacement for several months. I have been using nostr for around two months. I have also read fairly deeply into how Mastodon and Nostr work. I think nostr is better. Here’s why....
At the end of 2023, we ran a census on lemmy.ca. Analyzing the data took a little longer than I thought it would, but the results are now available!...
