I finally read “Old Man and the Sea”. I have tried to start it many times, but the beginning was just so slow. Has anyone here read it? What are your thoughts on this Ernest Hemingway classic?

I have soon finshed all of The Expanse (which I have enjoyed immensely) and last month I finished Peter F Hilton’s Pandoras Star. While I enjoyed the second half of Pandoras Star, they (it’s a trilogy) are such heavy books with rather slow pace. One of my favorite reads last year was Recursion by Blake Crouch - it’s fast...

I’ve been on a spy fiction kick recently- I really enjoyed the recent The Man from UNCLE movie and I Expect You to Die video game. I’m looking for some novels that are in a similar vein (classic 60s spy versus an egomaniac villain out to take over the world). However, I cannot stand the sexism in Ian Fleming’s books....

I have a specific book I’ve been meaning to read for awhile. I’ve heard that while it’s a great journey, it’s a dense / heavy / slow read along the way. It sounds like it’d be fun to read it together with a group of likewise interested folks....

I have been reading Finnegans Wake over the course of this year, a few pages a day, along with a group over on reddit. It is one of the very few things that still keeps me visiting reddit at all....

Preferably something with a social aspect too where you can see the books others have read. Something like MyAnimeList but for books

Basically what it say on the tin. I just finished Parable of the Sower (Octavia Butler) and I loved it. Any suggestions on what else I might like? It’s been a while since I got into a scifi novel....
