At first I though this was just a regular shitpost but then I saw the screen tear edit lol
On a more serious note, is there a way to actually fix screen tearing under x11? I’ve always thought a compositing manager like xcompmgr would do it, but for me it only makes it worse?
How does this guy think his mustache looks good. I’m sorry to bodyshame but man my mustache grows the exact same way and it is equally unflattering to grow out. And he has far more money to spend on barbers
Musk has always had terrible hair.. I have no idea why he always has some weak as shit moustache and beard going. I also can’t grow facial hair for shit so i shave every day. I’ll grow out a moustache for Christmas, but even a month’s worth of growth looks thin and shitty.
My mom hates it and it ruins all the Christmas photos. I only see my parents once or twice a year, so i guess i just do a Christmas moustache as a bit every year.
Ok, as someone who was genuinely interested in Scandinavian history during the Viking Age, this one pisses me off more than it should, we know the vikings at BARE MINIMUM LEVEL OF CONTACT traded with people who traded with the Arabs, we know this because several viking hoards have been discovered with Arab coins.
Additionally, the Viking era came about because the vikings had (generally) better boats than other countries at the time, and those boats could traverse both river and sea, allowing them to trade over great distance.
There’s a ton of other stuff I wont go into about the steel (which, by the way, was not damascus, nobody who spent any time learning about it would claim so), the broad terminology of “vikings”, and the Ulfbert sword, maybe I’ll come back some day and type it out, but I just don’t have the time or energy to write an essay right now
Not saying getting 10 mil likes is easy, because it’s not, but that ratio of likes to views is pretty low in your example. Mr beast has 30 mil likes for a video with 150 mil views, for example. (Which, in all fairness, has a much higher ratio than average, but still)
Sorry, but I’ve never seen engineers perform beautiful, artistics calculations - it was mostly to meet the end. Meanwhile, mathematicians do tons of them which are beautiful.
This is why I love comp sci. I hated math all through undergrad and only started to love it when I got much deeper into my career. I’m bad at calculations and find them tiring.
A beautiful, well written bit of code has a lot in common with a beautiful formula. And it has the huge advantage that the computer does all the tedious, error prone number crunching for me! That way I can focus just on the beauty of all the errors in my methodology, not my execution.
Yeah, mathematicians often end up having to do bunch of messy calculations by hand, just to find nice patterns. I am envious computer scienctists can avoid that ;P
I don’t know what should be called calculations? I think that means finding out a value from some fancy mathematic framework. (Pure)Mathematicians build that framework, maybe engineers use it to find stuff
We pure mathematiciand do addition and multiplication all the time, it’s just that what it represents is like, identification of module of structure sheaf.
Integration is just a summation, where limit is there to cover countablility!
Calculus is addition but over “measurable” domains, it is a rather natural generalization.
Though, mathematicians do care about whether the calculation “makes sense” - that is, they care about the rigor. Which is why it may seem they invented something wild.
Inventing addition is different from adding things. They invented the continious addition in measurable domains. Even though they may calculate using calculus, they are about making the thing not doing calculations with the thing

Agreed about ER. Although, I try to play more relaxing games if I’m playing late in the evening. I’m finally at the final legacy dungeon in the DLC, and boy oh boy there’s an enemy in there that killed me so fast in like 3 hits. It was over before I even had time to react, lol. I called it a night and switched to something else before bed.
That’s the one thing I finally learned with the DLC that I should have learned long before this - leaving and coming back later instead of fighting and dying to a tough boss 30 times in a row
For sure, taking breaks is important if I get frustrated with a game. Fortunately enough the only boss to truly stump me so far has been Commander Gaius. I eventually summoned 2 of my friends and the fight became a lot more fun, but even with 2 other people it took us probably 15ish attempts due to the massive health increase caused by summons and I’m also on NG+. I’m sure the final boss will be tougher, since I’ve heard from everyone who crazy it gets.
I’ve been better about my pacing this DLC, too. When the game initially launched and I binged it for about 2 months straight and was super burnt out by the end (had a lot more free time back then due to COVID and only 1 kid).
Go for it. I mostly started this as a way to share my growing collection of video game screenshots (I like to take a LOT of screenshots of my games, especially when I have a photo mode). But if anyone else wants to join in they’re welcome too. I’d love too see other people’s screenshots. Especially because I tend to focus on scenery
Looks like the installer and grub is confused about the hard drive order different in instaler and different while booting, both those drives could also have the same partition/drive ID making it confused, that could happen if you cloned/copied the drive in the past
I would say as a easy and safe solution
unplug all other drives that you don’t want install linux
Install Linux (best by formatting whole drive) - it should work just fine at this point
After confirming everything works - connect the other drives back
If Linux no longer boots after adding drives then tweak disk boot order in BIOS
