TheAlbatross , to startrek in So, do humans stink?

Everyone has a smell. Everything has a smell.

You’re more likely to find smells you’re unfamiliar with potent and obvious.

So, yeah, humans stink, most humans usually smell somewhat like the foods they typically eat, big surprise!

So Vulcans probably stink, too, just differently.

ThunderclapSasquatch ,

Wonder if it has to do with how many of us eat meat, Vulcan are vegetarian aren’t they?

TheAlbatross ,

Yeah, I imagine the body odor of meat eaters to strict vegetarians is particularly… noticeable as it’s something totally alien to their diet.

PilferJynx ,

I’m mostly vegetarian. But the dishes that I tend to eat are heavily spiced. Curry is so good. Also garlic. Hah

FleetingTit ,

Still, the farts of someone who mostly survives on processed meats are something else and can clean out a room.

It wasn’t me, I swear!

Misconduct ,

Oh… I don’t know dude… To this day the absolute most rank fart I’ve ever smelt was dealt by a drunk vegan guy that ate like five curry bean patty burgers things and like a gallon of some kinda vegan cheese. Nothing human should be able to produce anything that physically burns you with a scent. It’s unnatural 💀

Hilariously, Google Play Protect is one of the worst tools on Android at detecting malware and triggering false positives, and consistently scores poorly in independent tests like AV-Test and AV-Comparatives. You can find links to these tests on the AMTSO website.

JGrffn , to programmerhumor in C Compilers be like

I haven’t touched compilers in a while, but I was a dirty little MS pig boy back in college. Qt with MSVC just made sense for me, with the single exception of non standard byte lengths for longs (almost cost me a class due to not using std uints, totally my bad but you don’t really expect compilers to understand basic data types differently).

The true shitfuckassface experience for me was ICC. Stupid little pig boy decided he wanted his Qt working with ICC, due to all dem optimizations for Intel CPUs. After hours of debugging nonsense errors and janking my way through Qt code which was way above my head, I finally got a Qt build, only to have ICC find thousands of completely removed errors in a project where no other compiler would find errors.

Yeah that was the day I stopped caring for C++, stopped licking intel’s ass, and started getting ever so slightly radicalized due to the lies of the republic.

If data structures weren’t working with MSVC, you’re probably working with non-portable code in the first place. Don’t assume an int is 32 bits long!

Oh absolutely! I was starting out during this time, and started using memcpy for a uni project, hardcoding byte sizes to what I assumed long’s size was, instead of checking or using standardized data types (because I didn’t even know they existed). The result was such a mess, exacerbated by the good ol “let’s write it all in one go and run it when we’re done”. Boy did I suffer in that class.

Incorrect. This statement is only true if Israel had started the war. Hamas started the War. Israel has to defend itself otherwise Hamas has already shown it will kill citizens of Israel. Hamas has gone as far as indoctrination of kids. You want to know who is in the right? The Palestinian National Authority. No one else

    TheDankHold ,

Hamas didn’t exist at the start of the conflict actually. They formed in response to and with funding from Israel in the 80s and 90s.

    zepheriths ,

I am referring to what started on the 7th.

    TheDankHold ,

And I think restricting context and acting like anything started recently is an inaccurate way to frame what’s going on. This conflict has been going on far longer than a week. Wars don’t just pop up out of nowhere, they are based on context from before the war.

    zepheriths ,

Yes but then you get to honor of deciding who is right and who is wrong as well. No one has to right to tell someone which is the case.

Also this is a different level than what has been happening for at least a decade.

    TheDankHold ,

Cutting context does allow one to make easy value judgements and frame them to support their preexisting position, that’s true.

It’s a different level, yet part of the same story. And the only way this is actually a different level is by only looking at Israeli casualties (another way restricting context can twist one’s understanding). Palestinians have been killed by Israeli military at a much higher rate for decades.

18 Palestinian journalists have been killed since 2001, all wearing identifying press gear. Russia did this as well in Ukraine and got lambasted for it yet I rarely hear about how Israel killed journalists like Shireen Abu Akleh. Because people love to cut context like this out of their worldview.

    zepheriths ,

I am cutting context that is irrelevant to my point. My point is both sides are commiting war crimes. I don’t need to add anything because most people already agree Israel is not in the right. I only need to say how Hamas is in the wrong as well. Which judging by the upvote and down votes I have on the initial comment shows I have said something that makes sense

    TheDankHold ,

They’ve been in the wrong for over 20 years. Celebrating getting back pats for stating the obvious isn’t that useful. Another area where context vastly improves the quality of a discussion.

    SinJab0n ,

Hamas has gone as far as indoctrination of kids.

As well as the Israelis, just ask any of them what they think about the Palestinian people.

Never had a package get stolen before, but if I ordered something expensive I have it sent to the Amazon locker about 5 min away. Last year I needed an ironing board, I went to Walmart, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Roses. The only ironing board I found was at Bed Bath and Beyond for $120. I bought my ironing board on Amazon for $25 and it arrived the next day, also I didn’t have to pay shipping because of prime. I have prime, but I cut Netflix when I got it. Now I get my packages faster, with free shipping, and I get Prime Video.

Recently I bought a new foam mattress and they brought it to my house, unboxed it, put it on the bed frame, and took the old one away. This cost me $200 and I had free shipping with Prime.

Hate on Amazon all you want, there are plenty of reasons, but they’re doing the business better than big box stores which had already driven most small businesses out years ago.

    atrielienz ,

This bit about the big box stores is where I’m at. There’s a Target and two different Walmarts near me. There aren’t any mom and pop independent stores. Everything is a chain.

    Knightfox ,

That’s pretty much my life as well, any local stores that were decent went under 20 years ago. Anything left is a specialty store or boutique that costs 20% more. Sometimes they’re worth the added price, but not for many things.
