Despite being right handed, it feels more comfortable to place my phone in my left front pocket. Maybe because having a wallet in my right pocket predates using mobile phones. What feels most natural for you?
Beehaw has me thinking about bees…...
I can’t help but notice most (all I’ve seen anyway) of the federated projects are hosted on GitHub. GitLab is also not federated, but can be self hosted and has at least discussed it....
Hello everyone. I’ve read some posts before about Linux behaving poorly when using multiple monitors that have a different refresh rate....
I’m reading Reaper by Will Wight. It’s the 10th out of 12.
Howdy everyone, For the past few years I’ve been trying to find a more Photoshop-like photo editor for my phone. Most editors I’ve come across focus on adjusting filters/saturation/brightness–do any of you know of a photo editor that does more collaging/composting (i.e. layers/text/effects)?
I learned of this site from someone here and CANNOT, for the life of me, find it now. It was super simple like “watch.med.ia” or something, and had a dark, minimalistic UI. It had all things ever, basically, and the quality was stellar. No ads....
AFAIK, Peertube uses ActivityPub as well, but are Lemmy instances federated with them? I don’t seem to see Peertube instances on my feed. It be cool to see Lemmy comments appear below Peertube videos.
Hello everyone. Let’s take a second to appreciate some unseen workers here, huh?...
I usually try to stay out of the whole snap vs flatpak discussion. Although I am just really confused as to why flatpak just does not seem to care about usability. You’re trying to create a universal packaging format I would think the point of it is that a user can just install an app and after reviewing permissions it should...
I feel like it’s dying and the people I know say they use Google or duck duck go.
Running a TrueNAS Scale server with Jellyfin and planning to add Nextcloud. How would I be able to access these services from outside my network? I have heard portforwarding is unsafe and a VPN seems inconvenient to me.
According to Guinness World Records, the first person charged with speeding was Walter Arnold from Paddock Wood, Kent. On 28 January 1896, Arnold was seen going 4 times the allowed 2 mph speed limit in his Benz. The constable pursued him on his bicycle, issuing a ticket for £4 7s (roughly £260 in today’s money), of which 10...
I admit to spending too much time on Reddit during my work day as a distraction. It’s a problem. What’s worse is that Reddit has become so full of uninteresting content that I spend most of my time downvoting things that aren’t at all relevant to the sub they’re posted in. And with a lot of the front page subs being...
I have learned more in the few weeks about self hosting, rust, flutter and other things in lemmy, mastodon and fediverse than in the last few years in Reddit and other social media. Maybe learned more in hacker news. It’s awesome here and love the people here who are wonderful and knowledgeable and teach me patiently without...
Many an innocent bystander passing through here, asking “what is this sublem about?” I think this question deserves to be escalated to the highest level. What are the chinesium turnbuckles that tenuously hold this rusty, fraying cable to the next cable? What holds up the saggy clothesline that is NCD? What keeps us from...
Im from denmark, so danish is prefered, im mostly looking for the after series right now
I swear this happens once a week and I make sure to flush before she ends it each time.
I’m using Firefox on an Android phone to view Lemmy. When I click a post at the second page of posts and go back after reading, it takes me to the first page of posts. Am I doing something wrong?
Is this supposed to happen? I thought it assigned a special ip and that’s the one you use. For me I’m able to access my original local ip address outside my network, and from the provided tailscale ip. luckily when I turn off tailscale I can’t access either.
Does anyone want to see sysadmin blogs/guides posted here? I used to check sysadminblogs but the quality of content used to vary a lot. Would this be helpful or just clutter the feed?
