What are people’s thoughts on starting with strange new worlds then doing the tng order?
While tng is clearly the superior trek the high production values, updated visuals and modern episode structure work well toward it being a gentle introduction to the universe while still maintaining that classic trek feel. Plus the limited episode count will leave them wanting more.
I’m just curious; why is it a web app and not something you can download? The black bar in the bottom of the screen makes it feel weird, also the fact that upvote/downvote colors are reversed. Other than that, it soothens my withdrawals from Apollo, and I think I’ll be using it a fair amount alongside Memmy (which feels nice, it’s not a 100% carbon copy, but familiar)
Click the share button and save it your home screen it’ll save and operate as an app. It’s a web app just a new build option that makes it easier for something to be accessible in multiple ways.
Holy shit, the developer has put some serious work in. I didn’t know web apps could be that good. There’s some insane attention to detail going on here
I had a lovely conversation with a 19 yr old. He kind of reminded me of myself, only growing up in this crazy time. He was really thoughtful about his experiences. Any one here now is probably a touch more mindful, but we can all slip and be dumb or even bad people, and when there’s more people, it’s easier to do, especially when there are people who are sad or mad or whatever.
At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched.
Look, I kept doing that on “!lycorisrecoil” and link to the community still does not appear on my search results while am on .world. I also tried to click the links on their post in this community and it still won’t let me interact as .world and kept appearing as .ml and “not logged in”.
Is this an ongoing bug between instances’ interactions?
This is the best episode of modern Trek since Magic to Make…
It hit all the right notes and felt so Star Trek. Don’t get me wrong, I love serialized seasons, but Star Trek is at it’s best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously, while also simultaneously dealing with serious plot points.
I remember the magic I experienced the first time I played RS back in 2007. The game was mind opening. Although I only had a free account, but nevertheless had a blast getting my first Adam and Rune full gear.
How is OSRS for you now? What are you enjoying the most. I wonder if I will get the spark back if I try it or if I’ll be overwhelmed of the options of things to do
It’s as good as it used to be. I’ve enjoyed doing quests and fighting bosses. Grinding is slow but tolerable if you have a video or podcast you wanted to watch or listen to. Coming back as an adult is a different experience. You’ll find yourself being a bit more directed in how you play and it’s easy to optimise the fun out of the game. It’s decent on mobile and I have heard of people fighting endgame bosses on their phones.
It is easy to get overwhelmed on p2p. My advice is you set a goal and go for that, or you pick a thing you really want to do and just do that and let the game slowly open up from there.
You know, it’s so funny (though obviously not in an enjoyable way per se) how those folks are so selective and picky about freedom. Like freedom is OK when it’s the freedom to enter a supermarket without a mask, but it’s not OK when it’s the freedom to express your gender. And as in this example, when it comes to corporate masters…
Don’t you just love capitalism? And don’t you just loooooove capitalists? It’s honestly frightening how reminiscent it is to the way the fascists took power in 1930s Germany.
And by the way, I’m noticing a parallel with how much they not only embrace conservative evangelical Christendom, but also act like it’s the epitome of freedom and liberty - the American Dream, if you will. If you attend one of the US’s most notorious fundie schools, you’re not allowed to stay up late, mingle with the opposite gender too much, attend dances, or be pretty much anything other than cishet (and implicitly, cishet white male). The irony of how said school is named “LIBERTY” University never seems to die on me.
A lot of the political discussion I’ve read on here has also been pretty well thought out. I feel like people are taking time to explain their perspective more and even if in general it’s been more left leaning there is definitely more nuance. I was surprised by the quality of some of the discussion around the end of affirmative action.
Doesn’t matter, paid will due shortly after people realize there’s no NSFW content. Not just porn, everything flagged NSFW won’t show up at all. Everything from AMA to TV show discussions will be impacted.
I agree, I’m OK to let that website die. We really are ready for decentralization and we just need to deal with the growing pains. But it will happen eventually.
The developer thinks maybe they can make this work. Maybe there's a combination of a lower limit of API calls and an upper limit of what people are willing to pay for their app that will let them keep going.
The developer's lawyer recommended that to sue reddit for destroying their livelihood they would need to demonstrate that they had tries with the new system and it wasn't feasible in order to make their case stronger
The developer wants to take advantage of the third party landscape being just them now
Personally I think the first one is the most likely. It seems naive and bound for failure. But its also the least conspiracy theory and doesn't assume malice
Spez has already said that doing this {when talking about Apollo} is “not allowed”, so likely this method will get blocked or your account will get banned. You’re here now so IMO it doesn’t matter
Because the goal was to ban third party apps and they don’t want people trying to dodge it. u/spez seems to be personally offended by their existence and wants them gone.
I still don’t understand how this site works. I sort by Active and get posts from 2 days ago, sort by hot and get posts from last week, and I sort by new to get 10 second old posts.
Your sorting is working properly. When you sort by active, you’ll get posts that people are actively commenting on. When you sort by hot, you’ll get posts that lots of people are looking at, and when you sort by new, well, those are the new posts… so 10 seconds seems about right.
It works the same on Reddit. It’s just that there’s a lot more users, a lot more engagement and a lot more overall content over there.
