A dildo.

Get a dish towel wet and use that to swat at the fly. The weight of the water and the extra length of the towel let’s you get it going faster than the fly can react.

Wasn’t there a mutation in humans that increased the max. connections per neuron, with the cost of more, uh, faulty products?

Edit: asked ChatGPT, confirmed it somewhat but can’t search the net.

The study you are referring to might be related to research on the evolution of the human brain and the structural differences in neurons compared to other primates. One notable study published in 2012 by a team led by neuroscientist Suzana Herculano-Houzel found that humans have a higher number of connections per neuron in the cerebral cortex compared to other primates.

I don’t even work in IT but I make complex Excel tools for my Finance team.

I get an email about once every week or two from one of my coworkers asking what to do about an issue. Nearly every single issue would have been resolved if they just read even the first few instructions.

My favorite is a specific tool we use to review the financials. It relies on Scripting.Dictionary which is only present in .NET 3.5.1 or prior. The very first instruction on the file says you need to download it. There’s even a very handy button right there which will take you to our software center to install it.

Yet every single time someone gets a new laptop, they immediately assume that the file is broken.

therealzordon ,

If you hear about it that much, why not make the script check for .NET before crashing?

I tried Jitsi, but was unable to match Zoom’s audio quality.

The difference between Jitsi and Zoom was noticeable, but less important than the difference between the mic built in to the webcam and good mics. I use an SM58 for voice and an SM137 pointed at the cello just below the bridge, through a UMC204HD.

AndrewZabar , to asklemmy in What web browser extensions would you highly recommend to others?

On my iPhone I have one called Save All Images. Basically you know how lots of sites especially any kind of social media where they want you there to see things… anyway they use a script or whatnot to prevent holding down on an image to get the save photo prompt. This is an extension that loads all images that are single level referenced and you can save any/all. I use it almost daily. Instagram, and the like, especially, they hate the notion of someone saving something.

In Firefox on my computer I have Element Blocker. Some websites just waste a lot of screen space so if you’re browsing a ton of content you’d like to get the most room, but some stuff takes up portions of the screen fixed and not movable. This extension lets you select an element and it makes it just disappear. It is absolutely essential.

She got to legally punch some of those losers in the face (in the ring); I would imagine that was also satisfying.

Hey Rowling, go a few rounds with her.

gueybana ,

Dude, she punched a so called boxer and they started crying because they got punched in the face hard in the getting punched in the face hard sport.

booty ,
@booty@hexbear.net avatar

Imagine trying to explain this to an alien. Two people get into the dedicated punching people in the face arena, where they then go through the ritual by which they agree that they are prepared to punch each other in the face. One punches the other in the face, who then gets upset.
