If you want the benefits of society you must contribute. Put your money where your mouth is and go start a hippy commune somewhere.

Work as much or as little as you like! Benefit from the fruits of your own labor! Don’t ask for a steel ax or nylon tent though. Such goods require an industrial society.

I don’t mind multiple streaming platforms as long as all they do is stream content

My issue is each and every streaming platform produces their own exclusive content or they sign exclusivity contracts so only one platform streams a particular show or movie at once.

If Netflix and amazon video had the same content, you would just have to choose the service that is cheapest and has the best benefits like great user interface, customer support, features, and other stuff like that.

When there are 12 different platforms which each have their own library with barely any overlap you have to sign up for multiple all at once, and some that have terrible customer support or user interfaces if you want to watch one of their shows.

I got a X1 carbon gen 10 last year, and despite all the Lenovo hate, it’s been a great laptop running EndeavourOS. I opted for the 512gb as the price for the 2tb drive was ridiculous, so I bought a WD Black 2tb and swapped it myself. The bottom plate takes a few min to figure out, but it isn’t terrible.

I’m running a Gen 6 carbon X1 and I use pop-os on it and it’s an absolute dream. I can only imagine a Gen 10 would be really, really, really, really nice.

Honestly, I haven’t used PopOS frequently, but I tested it in a VM once and think it very well might be the best distro in terms of ease of use and ecosystem.

It’s highly likely that you had one or more bad-but-not-dead cables (like a weak termination) that was limiting your speed. By swapping everything out you fixed the problem. Cat 5e to 8 definitely shouldn’t have caused that much if a jump (if any).
