My pixel already has thin enough bezels that when I use it without a case, which I never do because it’s a bar of soap, my palm often touches while my thumb does when I use it 1 handed. How about more repairability instead of less?

cyberpunk007 ,

Aka overemployed. Already doing it. Lol.

cyberpunk007 ,

For home users, most of you I’m sure are just using a web browser 99% of the time. For this, to beat a dead horse, there is Linux.

cyberpunk007 ,

No. I want 2 copilot buttons. One on the bottom right. And one… No wait TWO in the start menu!

/s…

cyberpunk007 ,

yes but often there are some mixups… which is a PITA for those of us with ~10K+ songs

cyberpunk007 ,

This is why they have record profits. They attack at both ends. Strip features, increase prices.

cyberpunk007 ,

Yup this is what irks me most. I don’t think of audio books and music in the same context. Why the fuck are they mashing them together? Wrapped includes podcasts…

cyberpunk007 ,

But is that net or gross?

cyberpunk007 ,

I don’t consider this apples to apples.

Walkman/Discman/MP3 Player. These you need to acquire music yourself, then inject it.

Spotify/Tidal/YTM/Deezer etc, these are services that add recommendations and allow you to listen to practically anything under the sun. They are no the same thing.

cyberpunk007 ,

I think it’s intentional to avoid eyes on taking it down.

cyberpunk007 ,

I dunno, my QuickBooks shows me gross and net profit. Gross profit is your income after you remove cost of goods sols (COGS). Net profit is what the org nets after everything else like payroll and other expenses.

cyberpunk007 ,

What? You can’t simply delete your account? Bleh. I’m so ready to get rid of it. It’s like Facebook.

cyberpunk007 ,

This has been my experience the past 8 years or so. Before that they seemed to kind of have an idea. I get approached about stuff that is totally not my area of expertise in my field lol. Like you’re a tech recruiter, shouldn’t you have a basic idea and understand that a SQL expert is not a Microsoft 365 expert, or something?

cyberpunk007 ,

Windows users should be outraged.

We’re at a point where a company makes an operating system used by a majority of the population while they force you to use your personal online account to log in, and they record everything you do on screen and collect an obscene amount of other information about you.

Picture MS getting breached in a couple years. What would that look like for you, the individual? Do you really trust all these screenshots are also locally stored? I doubt it. If they are today, do you trust they always will be?

cyberpunk007 ,

Yeah this is a fair point. Not a fan of that either.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree - PREVIEW THREAD

Previews for the Elden Ring DLC have just been released! Lots of journalists and popular Souls players have been to an event where they played the DLC for a few hours, giving us way more info on what to expect and things such as new weapon types and upgrade materials. This isn’t a comprehensive list, just the few that I found...

cyberpunk007 ,

I cannot wait. I’ve got hundreds of hours into elden ring already :/

Instagram's unskippable ads test causes outrage among users (www.techspot.com)

Instagram has long been accused of stealing features from platforms such as TikTok, Snapchat, and Twitter/X. It appears that the company has looked to YouTube for its latest idea: unskippable ads that you have to watch for a period of time before being able to scroll further....

cyberpunk007 ,

At some point I realized who my true “circle” was. I think I deleted facebook in 2011 or something. That made me realize I really did not give a shit about what someone I went to school with is doing. Am I ever going to see them again? Probably not. Do I actually care? I guess not. My real circle I still keep in touch with, talk on the phone, visit, message. I don’t need these garbage apps to do this.

Spotify is raising the cost of Premium subscriptions, again (www.engadget.com)

Spotify is officially raising its Premium subscription rates in the US come July, following reports of the move in April. The platform is increasing its Individual plan from $11 to $12 monthly and its Duo plan from $15 to $17 monthly — the same jump as last year’s $1 and $2 price hikes, respectively. However, its Family plan...

cyberpunk007 OP ,

I feel they’re all fairly similar. I won’t do apple music because I don’t do iOS, and I moved from Google play music when forced to the inferior YouTube music. I wonder if tidal or any other service has comparable pricing.

cyberpunk007 OP ,

I do all these plus the streaming services 😂.

cyberpunk007 OP ,

Basically doing this already but my only issue is discovery. That’s why I pay for Spotify. I used to have a script set up before the API closed that would run automatically monthly to snag all my liked songs.

cyberpunk007 OP ,

Yes and no. It’s more cumbersome for sure but I used to find music on YouTube and all that back in the day then download it.

cyberpunk007 OP ,

What joe Rogan Spotify thing?

cyberpunk007 OP ,

So if you use a VPN to sign up, then disconnect the VPN, does it block you? Or do you always need to be on VPN?

cyberpunk007 OP ,

Do you always have to have the VPN connected to get the cheaper rate?

cyberpunk007 OP ,

What is this? I can’t find a description anywhere on GitHub of what this is

cyberpunk007 OP ,

I’ve emailed support thrice for intrusive full screen ads. “these are promotions”. Yeah, ads… “Sorry you don’t like our promotions, we will note it”

Uh huh.

cyberpunk007 OP ,

I am the reverse. After the Google play music killing, ytm was worse. Ytm might be killed any time.

cyberpunk007 OP ,

Is the audio quality the same?

cyberpunk007 OP ,

I like them but not on my music service. It’s in my way all the time. I have audible and I use a different app for podcasts. At least give me the option, but they won’t because I’m sure they get an incentive.

cyberpunk007 ,

Way too much bad press about Asus recently, can’t agree more. I’d still go for a steam deck first. They’re also helping Linux which I’m also in favor of 😂

cyberpunk007 ,

I don’t understand this statement. What is meant by “state”?

cyberpunk007 ,

This is called narcissism

cyberpunk007 ,

Recently rewatched all these. They’re so good.

I’d redo breaking bad.

cyberpunk007 ,

Just rewatched the matrix a few days ago. I swear I forget all the main details until I watch it every 6 years or so haha. It’s good, some effects are really showing their age now though.

How easy is it to switch back to windows?

I’m considering switching to linux but I’m not a computer savvy person, so I wanted to have the option to switch back to windows if unforeseen complications (I only have 1 pc). Is it just a download on usb and install? And what ways can I get the product key or “cleaner” debloated versions.

cyberpunk007 ,

And if you don’t, you could just boot a live USB of Linux and some installers are capable of repartitioning your drive for dual boot.

But there’s always a small amount of risk to this, but I’ve never had an issue in my 25 years of doing it.

cyberpunk007 ,

Story time, I once was reinstalling windows and I could not remember which drive had all my important data on it and I was getting ready to go out. But windows xp installer was on the disk selection screen and I couldn’t remember which disk was windows and which was my data. I said fuck it I’ll figure it out later. I get home and my monitor is off. I jam enter a bunch of times to wake it up. Woops. Installed windows on my data drive.

cyberpunk007 ,

Ya this is crazy. Between this and the computer hardware shenanigans, I don’t think I’ll be buying Asus ever again. I’ve lost all respect for the company.

cyberpunk007 ,

I know it’s unrealistic for most, but this is why I bought a protectli and installed opnsense. Not only do I get a lot of useful features but I don’t have to deal with this anti consumer bullshit.

cyberpunk007 ,

That’s why I said it’s unrealistic :). And yes that’s our unfortunate state. You either stroke the shaft of big tech and get things cheap that are easy to use or you pay to play and learn to secure your privacy.

Protectli is a small fanless computer. Opnsense is an open source firewall operating system that you install on a computer.

cyberpunk007 ,

I wouldn’t say you need to be a network engineer, it’s not like a juniper or Cisco type deal. It’s got an intuitive GUI, but yeah you do need to know or be willing to learn a bit. This is why I’m my original post I said it’s unrealistic for most.

cyberpunk007 , (edited )

I’m usually too lazy to click into those things, when I’m on my phone I use Firefox focus and just accept all be cause as soon as I’m done viewing the site it’s all gone anyways

cyberpunk007 ,

Oh that’s cool, which extension deals with the cookie thing? I use Firefox normally.

cyberpunk007 ,

Maybe home grade routers.

cyberpunk007 ,

It’s good practice for patching purposes. You should always be maintaining stable OS versions and a memory leak or the like is fairly uncommon. I think I’ve seen it once in my career on a particular check point OS version.
