Use docker, once you’re comfortable with it then switch to Podman. Podman has a few more complications, so it’s easier to get the base thing running using the most common tool, and work from there.
This is a good suggestion. Docker is more mature and has more resources, so it’s better to learn the ins and outs of containers. After getting comfortable with it, you can move to Podman and have a much better time tackling its peculiarities regarding permissions and rootless.
I used Docker for years and only recently decided to give Podman a try, porting my Lemmy instance to it.
Thanks for reminding me. Yeah I need to backup my ROM library of old games. Got most of them from Vimm’s lair earlier this year. They had to take down a lot of the games shortly after cause threats of law suit from Nintendo, Sega among others. It’s just absurd many of the games on there are not even available legally anymore.
It’s been drop dead easy for me too in the past few years. Almost all of my gaming is through Steam and the Proton mode is like, a few extra clicks. It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even need to consult ProtonDB for runtime options now.
For old games there’s Lutris and its install scripts are a fuckton easier than trying to manually wrangle shit together (no matter what OS you’re on) which is even better
In fact, my completely non technical (and, notably, non programmer) friend noticed what my experience is like and as a result decided to dual boot on his new gaming rig. Mind blown. I didn’t even do any evangelising or shilling, I guess the best evangelism is just practicing what you (would) preach
I think dual GPU situations like laptops are sometimes a bit of a pain in the ass though from what I read.

Apotris is an excellent famous-block-stacking-game clone for the GBA (and other platforms), it has a version for Portmaster that will run on many if not all Linux handhelds like the RG35XX and similar, but will also run in any GBA emulator.
Samples were used on older versions of MAME before the custom audio generators were emulated. They can be found at samples.mameworld.info and would go in the “samples/bosco” directory.
For anyone else seeing this in the future with the same problem, the zip was labeled “bosco” for the audio files so I used it with the ROMset called “bosco”. I placed it where @UsuallyLurker said and I no longer get the warning and the audio works great.
I tried bazzite, unfortunately I had some odd quirks that I can only attribute to an immutable OS. Things like window and UI scaling wasn’t consistent. My mouse cursor would blow up to twice the size when hovering over one window then shrink back down on another. I can only guess this is because the base filesystem is only readable and it can’t write any values for scaling on certain themes/window decorations. While not a huge deal, it comes off as sloppy and inconsistent. It’s not a great user experience and first impressions are everything. It’s easy to make a first impression, it’s damn near impossible to make a second one, and my first impression of an immutable OS has been soured. I installed mint 22 and it’s been a completely different experience, from window decorations, to time shift backups, system updates, Bluetooth, cinnamon theming, it just works out of the box with little to no setup.

The normal distribution of any opinion will naturally show that the largest number are BETWEEN extremes. As in, in the middle. So for the majority of people and the majority of issues people will find that half of their concerns are addressed by one party and the other half by the other party.
The most extreme views are just yelled the loudest.
But echo chambers and polarization can increase the standard deviation, bringing down the opinions in the middle. Now may topics might even be a bimodal distribution rather than a normal distribution.
The McDonalds in my area is pretty amazing (Silverthorne CO). There’s always like 10 employees and it just hums in there. I only ever order from the app; I get a large fries no salt and a large unsweetened iced tea for $2. The fries are always fresh (no salt is key) and they are ready within a minute of me walking in the door.

As a fry jockey. Fuck you. I make all fries fresh to order but all you assholes online just tell people to order no salt fries to be “fresh” it might work at McDonald’s but lemme tell you where I work a no salt fry is made at my convenience and set aside because making a no salt fry means WIPING DOWN EVERYTHING COVERED IN SALT It is not a “hack” eveywhere.
Every other goddamn online order is “no salt” but also extra cheese, double bacon, extra pickle. It slows things down so much I’m actually trying to get no salts for online orders banned.

I talk to people who are against corruption, against racism, believe the medical industry is broken, monopolies are bad, etc. Seems we agree on a lot of basic principles yet they are still voting trump tho. WTF?
It doesn’t matter who is president. The U.S. has been hijacked. Eliminate dual citizenship politicians, AIPAC, and ADL… and we will start to see actual changes that benefit the U.S.
Until then, every single politician that goes to the Western/Wailing Wall is an enemy of the people, of the world, essentially.
Yes appears most people have a lot more common ground than it they would expect, but everyone is convinced their candidate is the way to best fix things. I believe this is why there is so much focus on social issues like what bathroom people should use instead harder things to fix like monopolies.
The biggest difference btwn the parties is one is still down playing climate change caused by global warming, and that is objectively wrong.
