Statistically speaking most people can find new games in their library they bought and never touched for years. It’s a genius marketing strategy on steam’s part.

Back from a “holiday” to the Highlands. Lots of driving around between nice wee towns and incredible landscapes. But the real win is that I have just dossed around the house all weekend, and the car hasn’t moved since Friday. Of course, there’s next to no food on the house, but I feel chill af.

If you don’t want to go full Cloudflare you can mitigate DDOS using these kind of technique locally.

Cloudflare will be a lot more effective in case of attack. But I don’t think most people need more than a few mitigation rules. If DDOS really come, there are very few things you could do to mitigate anyway.

borari , to asklemmy in Am I terribly, terribly dyslexic or is this bluetooth keyboard doing me wrong?

Whenever I switch between keyboards with different slopes (is that the right word? Like whether they sit flat on the desk or are angled due to their flip out feet or just the board chassis itself) or keycap profiles, and to a lesser extent the switches themselves, It takes a bit of an adjustment period before I’m not keying typos and stuff.

I’m weird and don’t use Bluetooth for any of my primary inputs or audio outputs, so I can’t speak directly to there being an inherent Bluetooth issue like that, but I really doubt it. The massive proliferation of Bluetooth “gaming” mice and keebs wouldn’t have happened if there was such an issue. I just don’t use them bc adhd and keeping peripherals charged is a losing proposition out the gate.

Also, did you type this post on that keeb, or did you just proofread it a ton of times.

cashmaggot OP ,

10/10 they def have different slopes. The bluetooth one is flat as hey and the other one was tiered. Could def be that. I do use the other one, but not in this scenario and not as often so that could be it.

You're not weird, you're smart =P! You don't like fuss. I did wanna make a bluetooth speaker to jam out with around the house. But I think I am going to put that on hold for now and give this keyboard situation a think. I like to give my purchases a good think. Which was why I was surprised when the last guy pooped out.

I did type this one on that keyb. And it seems to be okay most times. But like I said, I do know that from time to time I can really hit a solid dyslexic spot. But typically I am pretty okay, and I know a couple of people who "fixed" (maybe not cured) their dyslexia issues with frequent reading. And I myself think I fixed mine pretty well doing the same. Idk if my brain is weird (okay, wait that was stupid statement, my brain is weird) but like...uhhhh. Shit. Brain fog, I stayed up too late last night. I see everything I think. I say everything I communicate even in text (like texting a buddy or here). And I think that also helps with me being able to decode things a bit. So then maybe I make less typos on the whole. But I can type pretty fast. Idk how fast, but I would say maybe somewhere between 70-90 wpm. But I can't remember and I don't feel like doing the test. So if I am typing faster than the signal typically sends (or there's some weird latency) maybe then the words come out soupy.

And I know folks make mistakes, cause we're human and I am hot mess. But there's just something weird goign on <<< and it happened right there =P!

Either way thank you and tell me what audio you're using if you don't mind. I used to always rock a mini-boombox in my kitchen and it made being in there such a comfy experience and I have been thinking about how to recreate that so that I can just hop in, press a button and jam out. So if anything comes to mind, feel free to share and I'll give it a look for sure.

Cheers!

borari ,

Audio? Weird again. For my PC I have a Scarlett 2i2 that I plug my ATH-50 headphones in to, and the line out on the 2i2 runs to a super SUPER old pioneer amp that’s connected to some equally old Technics box speakers, which don’t sound great but get loud. That all connects to my PC and laptop through the KVM. I have an Apple TV that’s connected to a Denon AVR, which has two Focal Choras connected to it. When the laptop is connected I can play music out both sets of amplified speakers together, without Bluetooth or anything, using the Apple Home home play thing. I live in a relatively small house, so that covers most of it. I think I might add in a HomePod so I can have a speaker in the kitchen while cooking, and outside in the backyard when chilling by the firepit and stuff. I’m really hesitating to do it though just bc I’m not sold on the wireless stuff, but the HomePod uses WiFi not Bluetooth so it’s not as bad I guess.

cashmaggot OP ,

Hey, thanks! I wish I was so cool as to have a solid sound system. I move so damn much, I figured if it's not something that I can fit in a relatively reasonable space it's probably something I'll ultimately have to give away. I was looking around for stuff, and that's how I landed on a bluetooth speaker. Because I am not in the mood to gather cds, an external drive, or anything. Although really if I had it my way I'd load up my flash drive and just plug it into something. I thought maybe building my own bluetooth would keep the volume at a reasonable level, give me a fun project to do, as well as give me a reason to keep lugging the thing with me =P!

I hadn't heard of wifi speakers, so I didn't know they existed but you've got me interested and I am going to have a look. I gave up on headphones because unless terribly long my hair just expands outwards to the heavens and the two don't mix. Two other things, by the by, that I thought about were a micro-set of (powered) bookshelf speakers. But it seemed to intense for a kitchen area. Or taking an old phone, some kinda 2.0 computer speakers, and forming a body out of wood or something to make a "boom-box." But phones are so endlessly creepy that idk. But I do like the recycling aspect, and tbh would still be using the babe today if they hadn't shut down 3G permanently @_!!!

You've given me some things to think of though, and thank you for your help!

borari ,

Ohhhhh, it’s not a “wireless speaker” per se, it’s just a computer stuffed in a speaker that connects to WiFi on its own.

cashmaggot OP ,

I'm super in love with the idea, I wonder if there's some kinda diy setup you could do. Just kinda like how people make streaming servers for their home. I just didn't even think about it. So it was a lovely idea. Big thanks for all the talk =)

It seems so obviously counterproductive that the only thing I can think is that they’re enjoying it, like it’s a kink to get into other people’s sex lives and tell them what they should and should not do.

No, seriously. If you spend time in the conservative, christian communities like where I grew up, you hear these people just spend night and fucking day thinking about “sin” and the ways that nasty, dirty, eeeeevil sinners like to sin and all the details about what manner of sin they partake in… and so on.

As a teen I had little to no interest in penetration. Tampons didn’t feel good, so why would I assume something else would? I wasn’t really interested in penetration until I was interested in my partner specifically.

Once I (eventually) figured out pleasurable masturbation, I still stuck with external stuff mostly, and fingers in general. Eventually I got a job and a debit card and could privately online shop, but my little bag of toys continues to go mostly unused. Nothing beats my fingers.

I don’t know about other women, but for me masturbation is and always has been much more about what’s going on in my head, and then adding the pleasurable sensations to that, rather than experimenting with different sensations.

For a beginner I literally cannot imagine a cucumber. How many dicks are as thick as a grocery store cucumber? None I’ve seen in real life. Maybe in porn, but I can’t think of any. It would just hurt. Beginners would need something maybe the size of 2 female fingers. (Maybe a farmers market cucumber that’s skinnier?)

Peasley , to linux in How was your experience using Linux in college?

I had no issues with compatibility, just made sure to save documents to older microsoft office formats in the hopes of avoiding issues.

I never had to use an exam browser or anything like that, I’d imagine you’d want to have a polite conversation with the instructor if that were to occur, perhaps they can make an exception or allow you to do it on a library computer

Collaboration was always over google docs, so there were never any problems working with others. My CS classes were all expected to be done in Linux VMs so that was sort of ideal. Other science/humanities classes were totally software-agnostic.

I’m doing a CIS degree right now, and I did 99% of my first year on fedora. I did need a full windows install because some exams took place using a lock down software.

Honestly, the hardest part was remembering to boot into windows the day before so it could update and stabilize for the exam the next day

Yes. The last six months of my life (time, stress, and thousands of dollars) taking in two wildly ungrateful and disrespectful people after they were evicted from their apartment. Well they’re now being removed from yet another place (my house) at the end of the month, willingly, or by escort from the sheriff.

Never again.
