skrttskrtt911 , to nostupidquestions in Are there any Reddit refugees spending more time on Lemmy than Reddit?

I quit using Reddit entirely when the blackout started. I didn’t immediately jump all in to Lemmy, but I’ve found myself checking in more often and staying on the site for longer periods of time as it continues growing

realcaseyrollins , to technology in How do you find RSS feeds that you're interested in?

I generally go to a website and if I like the content, I look for an RSS icon. If I can't find one, I'll browse to either [domain]/rss, [domain]/rss.xml, [domain]/feed or [domain]/feed.xml, because most websites that support RSS will have an XML file at that location. This has worked for every site I've tried it on so far, except for Genius' website.

ratz30 , to youshouldknow in YSK that you can edit titles on Lemmy, unlike Reddit.

That’s an excellent feature I had no clue about!

empireOfLove , to asklemmy in How do we feel about Meta joining the Fediverse?

They see the fediverse trend gain9ng steam with the rise of Mastodon and go “Oh sheit we need to be on that for $$$”. Proceed to embrace, extend, enshittify, and extinguish. Its nothing but Zuckerberg’s gasping breaths to try and stay relevant as his company begins the very slow, but inevitable, backslide into technological irrelevance.

I will be leaving and/or blocking any instance that chooses to federate with anything related to Meta. They are antithetical to the entire foundation of the metaverse and they ruin everything they touch.

atkion , to agora in [VOTE] Only donors should be allowed to vote.

Nay, this idea is fundamentally against the values of this instance.

userIdnotfound , to explainlikeimfive in Who are Hexbear?

After r/chapotraphouse was banned a portion of their users created hexbear, since lemmy was even less developed at the time they had to fork lemmy to make it usable for their community, recently they migrated back to lemmy as it is more established now. Ideologically they are communist.

coca-cola + hefeweizen = colaweizen

Sounds vile, is really tasty.

grue , to linux in What's the longest you've stayed on a distribution?

I’ve only really used Gentoo, Debian and Ubuntu (in that order!), each for years at a time over the past two decades. I suppose it shows how progessively fewer fucks I give about the inner workings of the system.

I also tried to install a copy of… TurboLinux 6, I think? that I got from a Ham Radio swap meet as a kid sometime in the '90s, but I never got it to work.

pieceofcrazy , to gaming in New rule regarding posting untagged game spoilers

I’d like to add that it would be nice to warn about spoilers about very old games too. I don’t think that should be a rule, but just nice.

The whole “dude that game came out 30 years ago” argument doesn’t make sense because not everyone plays everything (and not everyone has your age).

They are free to set up an instance. Not sure who would federate with them.

More than half of my titles and descriptions have typos in it so it’s a blessing

You can also add your personal text in a text box when you create link posts, another thing you can’t do in reddit.

masterspace , to fediverse in [Discussion] I don't think this format makes a lot of sense for the fediverse

ex: [email protected] vs [email protected]

Isn't the point of federation that those communities would federate and then have merged comments sections? Or am I misunderstanding how it works?
