How come there aren't any moral geniuses?
When kids do linear algebra or they rise to the level of GM in chess within the first two decades of their lives, such people are obviously geniuses. Their intelligence is undeniable....
PSA: A website called SteamHistory enables stalkers through Steam mass data harvesting. Here's how stalkers found me despite creating a new, private, anonymous account.
tl;dr: Watch what you put online and who you friend, especially on Steam. Once it’s on the internet, it’s there forever....
Do you use the device you torrent on for personal things as well?
I’m just curious as I’ve permanently dedicated my laptop to torrenting. I’ve been too nervous to install anything but the VPN and Firefox on it. Now, I’m curious to mess around with Linux some more, which is what I use on it, but I can’t fully test out what all I can do with it without signing into accounts....
The future of desktop Linux might be like OpenSUSE Kalpa/Aeon
I’ve been running Tumbleweed for a few years now. It’s great, but it’s not 100% autopilot, updates often require manual intervention (resolving small problems) or updates try to add 50 packages I don’t need (recommends) all the time despite them not being in a pattern. I’ve been looking for a distro on which I could...
Does color change how hot a laser can get something?
For convenience sake let’s say you have 2 identical lasers, one is blue and one is red. And you shine it on lead (so none of the light leaks through) until the lead doesn’t heat up anymore. Would the temperature change at all between the different color lasers. It doesn’t have to be red or blue, it could be microwave or x...
What's a good online (globally available) human therapist or therapy service?
I’m suffering from anxiety-related panic attacks and looking to have 1on1 video sessions with a therapist to relieve stress. Ideally available on demand but I’m open to try any good therapy at this point.
What features would I be losing if I switched to GNOME?
I don’t mean for this to become a KDE vs GNOME post. I’m looking at switching to Fedora (because Arch is a pain), and it seems that GNOME is more supported. I use KDE on Arch. What features would I be losing if I were to switch? (ex: toolbar management, KRunner, etc.)
How do I use uBlock to hide threads with certain urls?
The filter I use to hide threads based on keywords doesn’t seem to work for urls but I’m sure this is possible aswell.

How does DNA decide the shape of the body?
I know that DNA encodes proteins. Truthfully, everything besides that (including ‘what are proteins’) mostly wooshes over my head, but that’s not relevant because whenever I search this question I never even find it addressed anywhere....

[Tailscale] Can't connect VPS to local network?
I set up Headscale and Tailscale using Docker on a VPS, which I want to use as my public IPv4 and Reverse Proxy to route incoming traffic to my local network and e. g. my home server. I also set up Tailscale using Docker on my home server and connected both to my Headscale server....

How do you feel confident in the workplace?
I was a student for many years (5 years of undergrad, 2.5 years of grad school), and I became very comfortable with always being able to look at the syllabus and my grade and know what I needed to do and how well I was performing. Work isn’t like that. Like I think is normal, I get a performance review once a year. I find this...

How's Samsung's One UI these days?
I’ve preferred Pixel phones for the last few years but I’ve heard that Pixel 6/7 had 5G connection problems (Pixel 8 apparently has a better modem, but I think I’d rather stick to a Qualcomm design for now)....
Later generations will have less attachment to how things were when they grew up because everything changes a lot faster.
Or at the very least less common attachment because they grew up outside of a monoculture.
