I have tried Linux as a DD on and off for years but about a year ago I decided to commit to it no matter the cost. First with Mint, then Ubuntu and a few others sprinkled in briefly. Both are “mainstream” “beginner friendly” distros, right? I don’t want anything too advanced, right?...
I know this post will probably be downvoted to hell, give me much problems and probably will make my account being banned but you have to know that i take no side writing this....

Hello! Sorry maybe for this beginners-question: do I need dedicated anti-virus / anti-malware software for my Linux System?...
Hello guys! sometimes I watch movies with friends over jitsi meet, and in order to share just a single window with just its own audio I use chromium, that has the “share tab” option. However, I’d like a more general solution (I cannot play mkv files on browser, for example). I’d like a compact way that creates a virtual...
Edit: solved. Sorry guys, it was something silly. Instead of clicking shutdown on windows I just hard pressed the off button for some seconds on the laptop. So I booted back on windows and let it shutdown normally and then Debian was able to boot again. Hehe...
I’m not tech savvy and have noticed that many streaming sites are .ru, and as someone located in Finland, I want to make sure if they are dangerous to use.

Mom’s lentils with rice and bacon are bomb. Even if you usually don’t like that stuff the way she prepares them… you would love them....
Figured I would hopefully save others from the annoyances I’ve had with their service. I experienced daily high packet loss to both my VPS and their website, including the control panel (greater than 50%, typically). The control panel was broken and couldn’t tell me the status of my VPS. When I asked for a root cause and fix...
I want a centralized way to manage keys and secrets. And some service users with little privileges over a subset of the secrets. Ideally, a service user only should be able to read its own subset of secrets. So, let’s say, if a container gets pwned it will only read its secrets and no more. It should be FOSS and self-hostable....
So some months ago I watched a trailer for an upcoming game that looks pretty neat, but of course I can’t remember the name for the life of me. Maybe y’all can help me. I don’t think it’s been released yet....
Well after 10 years I just got banned by ADAfruit indefinitely for not shipping to my home address. I don’t know wtf that was about. I think they banned both addresses so I screwed my friend over. Anyone know of any other alternative sites?
I’m born in 1992 so this game is a bit before my time. I started playing it and got completely hooked. It’s an absolutely fantastic game that would still hold up as a quality indie game today....
Do you think Threads (Meta’s Product) will add such a feature that allowed anyone to migrate their account to their own server? I have no belief that they’ll do, but I can only hope, as I love that feature on Fediverse platforms (mastodon comes to mind)....
I just learned that Nmap is almost GPL except that they revoked the license specifically for SCO group for their SCO–Linux disputes....
Do background checks to verify potential employees rely on profiles data brokers have compiled on them? Or do background checks rely on more direct means?
When w11 announced that they were adding native support for rar, 7z, etc, it occurred to me that android also doesn’t support these and I found it really weird
Any 3d printing nerd that can point me in the right direction? The amount of brands out there is overwhelming.
