Github app browser
For some reason, I recall seeing an app that let you browse android apps available on github. It doesn’t make sense considering github isn’t a repository or anything, but I can’t shake the feeling that I saw what essentially equates to F-droid but for all github android apps. Am I crazy or did this exist? If it’s a...
ELI5: How do you play Dungeons & Dragons?
I’ve heard a lot about this game, but I just don’t know how to play it. Can someone fill me in?

I've been searching and finding circular logic and corporate level no-speak. Is there an official post clarifying as in YES or NO weather lemmy.world is defederating threads?
I’ve gotten so tired of the non-stop reddit/lemmy/mastodon/threads drama I pulled the plug on all recurring donations for the foreseeable future. Thanks to threads the fedverse is starting the reddit style drama cycles and I’m pretty much over trying to sort through it....
lemmy.world has bent the knee to corporations. Consolidated comments into body.
I don’t think this is EEE, I think this is a chance for meta to dominate the narrative by drowning us out with algorithmically curated censorship, distractions, hatred, outrage etc. I would join threads if I want threads, I would be on Reddit if I want corporate influence....
Pixelfed Global feed: Basically mastodon
Hey there, I finally decided to try out Pixelfed and made an account on an Instance close to me (really nice instance-finder imho). Yet, the instance itself is rather small and when I open the global feed, Pixelfed turns into a mastodon-client basically since all it shows are Mastodon-Toots. Also, all “Discover” Features...
Read this post by /u/[email protected] before recommending OpenSUSE during these trying times.
Red Hat is going full evil mode and Fedora, which is largely controlled by Red Hat, is also pushing forward with questionable decisions. At this time, as some Fedora users look for a new $HOME there are many recommending OpenSUSE but before doing this, please read the post below....

Improving Fediverse Discovery & Onboarding
This post is a sort of partial dump of my efforts towards an idea/proposal for improving discoverability and onboarding for the Fediverse while avoiding new users just being dumped on a centralised instance. I’ve seen people suggest that one of our secondary defenses from megacorp social media (like Meta) is improving our UI,...

I am trying to find a series of text books that can be used to teach English. I don’t mind paying for them, but I can’t find a way to purchase them in my country....

Why doesn't Lemmy implement an anonymous post feature?
How many times have we seen people create throwaway accounts on these types of platforms? People often want to share something valuable yet intimate without having it be tied to their online identity for privacy reasons. Some folks create new accounts for this reason. Others decide to remain silent....
Is there a limit on saved posts?
On Reddit, there is a limit of 1,000 posts that can be saved and viewed. After exceeding 1,000, the oldest saved posts will no longer be visible and make place for the new saved posts.

How does an app like Threads get access to financial, political, health, religious or browsing info through your phone's OS. What is the actual source of that data?
I’m trying to understand how an app would even get that info in the first place, how that’s classified and why a mobile operating system even has a way to provide that data....
Old games with interesting perspective switches were neat.
I’m mostly thinking about 8 bit games, and NES in particular, but it was a thing that continued at least into the 16-bit consoles. There were a lot of games that come to mind that did the perspective shift, sometimes blending genres in the process. Stuff like:...
