Columbia University threatens to expel student protesters who occupied administration building (apnews.com)

Dozens of protesters took over a building at Columbia University in New York early Tuesday, barricading entrances and unfurling a Palestinian flag from a window in the latest escalation of demonstrations against the Israel-Hamas war on college campuses nationwide. The school promised they would face expulsion....

They didn’t have Israel’s lobbyists working against them.

The wastewater was enough to fill about 132,000 Olympic-size pools, according to a Guardian analysis.

Can we please hold these fucks accountable?

some_guy ,

Their mandate is to do harm.

some_guy ,

This was unreasonably funny for how low effort. Awesome.

Oh, and now I thought of the “yip yips”

Her hair was two colors so she deserved it. /s

We can’t get shit done about active murder of children in Israel. How the fuck are we gonna do anything about passive deaths? I hate the world.

I actually think we should be doing more in every area, don’t read this as me not caring.

You should want to kick out corrupt politicians for other reasons.

Should I join "free speech" alternatives?

Hello! I’ve been searching for a reddit alternative, and yes, I’ve picked Lemmy and Raddle, but here’s the thing. My morbid curiosity is perked up, and a part of me wants to join the “free speech” alternatives, like Saidit, Poal, etc. What’s wrong with me that I want to join toxic places? I mean, yes I’ll find a...

It potentially opens you up to radicalization in the wrong direction.

The one real benefit of the cold war was a focus on education.

When detectives searched the mother’s home, they found a recently fired gun and the officer’s service radio in plain view on the kitchen counter, a police report says. There was no secure gun case, nor a holster present in the area, the report continued.

Jail this piece of shit. Also, this is who gets to exercise authority over students. Wtf

Neither Israel nor the United States recognize the court’s jurisdiction, though any warrants would put Israeli officials at risk of arrest in other countries, including much of Europe.

That’s a good look for USA. /s

Once again, we are shamefully shamed by our leaders.

He was the first journalist to be killed this year in Mexico, which is the most dangerous country for journalists in the Western Hemisphere…

I was about to object, but then Western Hemisphere.

At least 14 candidates have been killed since the start of 2024.

Plus the stamp to mail your magic words. Until you get a judgement against the post office and nullify mail charges.

some_guy ,

I watch police bodycam channels on YouTube. This seems highly likely.

some_guy ,

Excuse me, Columbia, but you’re not getting the message.

Israel will be starved of USA funding once the boomers are gone. The kids see what’s going on.

Partner brought home flowers because we were gonna have guests. Both little people have been caught chomping them. Honestly, I thought the smaller one would hide it better and only do it when we weren’t home or were asleep. Nope!

Beautiful kitty, btw.

I didn’t know this. Searched “zebra temperament.” Checks out. Kill lions.

Lawyers for the billionaire businessman say that the “Twitter sitter” provision in an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission violated his free speech rights.

Hrm… you agreed to it. Was a gun to your head? Kinda seems like you regret your actions.

I’m not saving for a retirement that is unlikely to occur. I don’t see the point. Just trying to grow the funds so I can use them in realtime.

"We’ve Become Addicted to Explosions”: The Israeli Military Unit Responsible for Demolishing Homes Across Gaza (www.bellingcat.com)

Twenty days after more than 1,100 people were killed in a Hamas attack on October 7, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched its ground offensive in Gaza with the stated aim of destroying Hamas and bringing hostages home. As of April 12, more than 33,000 people have been killed in Gaza according to UN OCHA reports. In response...

So I’m going to be even more frustrated…

“It’s coming right at us!”

I mean, how can you expect to be the orange man’s VP if you can’t kill a defenseless puppy? /s

Fuck you, psychopath. My animals love me because I love them and would never let anyone hurt them. Wtf

some_guy ,

That’s pretty funny! Thanks for making me smile.

I find them to be positive in intent. Just hostile by nature. Again, like wasps. But a wasp who hopes to sting disparity.

some_guy ,

Positive on Lemme. Will celebrate one year here on the anniversary of the blackout of the old site. I think that’s in June?

US intelligence believes Putin probably didn't order Navalny to be killed, Wall Street Journal reports (www.reuters.com)

Last month, Putin called Navalny's demise "sad" and said he had been ready to hand the jailed politician over to the West in a prisoner exchange provided Navalny never return to Russia. Navalny's allies said such talks had been under way [...] Washington had not absolved the Russian leader of overall responsibility for Navalny's...

The article had stuff about how the raised acids in the blood after a struggle make the effects of sedatives more dangerous. Plus the unknown state of chemical use before the encounter (a lot of arrests involve drugs or alcohol). Sedatives are pretty risky, imo.

I recognize the Plato shadows on a wall ref and someone commented about Sisyphus. Obviously, Saddam was in a hole. What’s the rest? Looks like pick-axe people are part of a 2d video game. I don’t get anything other than what I’ve described.

That “Mission Accomplished” banner still pisses me off.

South Dakota governor, a potential Trump running mate, writes in new book about killing her dog (apnews.com)

The Guardian obtained a copy of Noem’s soon-to-be released book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.” In it, she tells the story of the ill-fated Cricket, a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer she was training for pheasant hunting....

some_guy ,

“I hated that dog,” Noem writes, deeming her “untrainable.”

Sounds sane to me. Hating animals is cool.

Strange case. He was a leftist who meant to combat fascists but then chose to cheer them on in the fight against the system.

Accurate. He’s anti-fascist.

The new class war: A wealth gap between millennials (www.cnbc.com)

There may be another factor creating so much wealth among millennials: inheritances. In what’s known as “the great wealth transfer,” baby boomers are expected to pass down between $70 trillion and $90 trillion in wealth over the next 20 years. Much of that is expected to go to their millennial children. High-net-worth...

some_guy ,

The surge in wealth among millennial heirs is also creating a lucrative new market for wealth-management firms, luxury companies, travel firms and real estate brokers.

Leaches.

some_guy ,

This was in January. Why is it being posted now? I mean, I guess I’m happy to know that this org made their position known on this issue of genocide, but I’m not surprised three months after the fact.

some_guy ,

Suspended for having an unpopular (with the establishment) opinion. It’s funny how young people across the country are against genocide. It’s almost as though the older generations are completely out of touch. Kind of like with the USA war of aggression in East Asia (Vietnam) protests back in the day.

The olds have been indoctrinated to think Israel can do no wrong. They are steadfast against finding out that they were themselves wrong.

some_guy ,

I thought we’d have mass uprisings when we saw all the videos of police over-reach / violence in 2020. That it didn’t happen then sort of quelled my expectation that it could ever happen, but who knows? This conflict is sustained in a way that has really touched a nerve with young people.

some_guy ,

I used it for my earbuds case for a long time. I don’t buy many pairs of jeans and wore the same pair for most of the pan (I didn’t leave home for more than a couple hours of walking and listening to podcasts most days, so they only got washed sporadically). It eventually wore through and frayed. I’ll probably resume that usage when it gets warm enough not to carry a hoodie.

Oh, second post: Steve Jobs taught us that that’s where you put your iPod Nano.
