I would honestly be a better developer if this was enacted.

mesamunefire ,

I added a couple of books and reviews. I forgot my account as it’s been about a year.

mesamunefire ,

I’ve had a better time on archive.org. I wish bookwyrm would do an export or integration with them.

mesamunefire OP ,

I know there are others that have probably reached a higher score, but thought I would share. Ive been playing this off and on for over 11 years. I actually dont remember when I started.

mesamunefire OP ,

Big thanks to the awesome people over at /c/retrogaming for helping me get my save file off the Caanoo and into something more modern (Skyemu and Miyoo mini plus).

lemmy.world/post/13212008

Hopefully ill be playing the game for another decade :D

mesamunefire OP ,

Off and on. At first I didn’t, then decided to do it later on when I figured it out on the caanoo.

It’s great to hear about your uncle.

mesamunefire OP ,

Nice!

Long shot - How to get old .sav file to work with modern gameboy color emulators? (imgur.com)

I have a very old Caanoo that I have been playing pokemon pinball for over 11 years. The game system has been repaired many times and still works(which is awesome). Recently, the system has been showing its age. It has to be plugged in to play more than 10 minutes and the joystick is getting pretty run down. I had to 3d print a...

mesamunefire OP ,

From 11+ years ago? I’ll give it a shot here tomorrow.

mesamunefire OP ,

OMG you are all wonderful people. It worked!!!

mesamunefire OP ,

Thanks!!! It worked.

mesamunefire OP ,

This is awesome.

mesamunefire OP ,

I was able to convert the save file from sav to srm by…just renaming it and pushing it back into the system. So the miyoo mini plus with gambette was able to get it working!!

mesamunefire ,

I wish we could replace batteries…

I got the first version of the terraube. It was awful, which is really unfortunate. They did a good job on the hardware-ish…but they only updated the software once. So the phone, after 3 1/2 years was stuck 2 years into the software lifecycle. Then they released the Terracube 2…which has the same issue. In addition, when I tried to get the original phone serviced, they upped the price of the repairs to about the same as the terracube 2, after promising it would only be 60$ a repair when I first got the phone.

Fairphone was a phone that I had looked at too…but its over 1000+ and I just cant see a phone that expensive.

mesamunefire ,

I’m seeing many bugs on the steamdeck with bg3. It’s perfectly fine working, it’s mostly software bugs. Some were funny ( teleporting chars) but the latest one stopped my progression. Share trials, one of the orbs to continue…just doesn’t appear. I’ll have to get the game working on another machine in order to fix, but it sucks. I have over 60 hours in the game.

mesamunefire ,

I just installed it an hour ago! Small world. I still pay for a small vultr box with next cloud for convenience sake.

mesamunefire ,

Software as a service. Cloud basically…

mesamunefire ,

True. The smartest phone would probably just be a computer at that point.

What do you think about that most big VR technology is owned by big companies like Meta and Tik Tok?

I mean yeah it’s obvious that it’s an oportunity for making money on a new marked and so on, but, even if it’s a bit silly, dreaming of VR technology like in Ready Player One(minus the distopian world) for real life it feels like the bad guys already won, when we will have the technology. Like the omni One is just about to...

mesamunefire OP ,

I fiddle with it once in a while. Got a couple of cheap RTLSDR USB devices and listen in sometimes. Also I do satellite tracking with satnog which is fun.

mesamunefire ,

Both projects could run and integrate with each other. I like it.

mesamunefire OP ,

Yep. If anyone is using emulators, I would suggest keeping a copy just in case this spills over to all emulators.

consumer disclosure report

A company that I worked for partnered/worked with LN. They are legit. Some of the smartest people I know. They are a very old data warehouse (among many other things) company.

If you would like the same report done: consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/consumer They make it very easy.

mesamunefire ,

Depends on which state you are in. If your from California, for example, you can tell them to not keep any data.

Surfacing Content from Smaller Communities on Lemmy

Before the scaled sort was introduced, the hope was that it would provide a solution to surface posts from smaller communities, without being overrun by memes and political posts from larger communities. However, the scaled sort has been ineffective so far, as most posts appear with a single vote, making it practically the same...

Reddit was like this when it started. I was there when Dig was a competitor. It took a decade of constant posts by people who really loved their communities to really take off. And reddit, when it started, didnt have subreddits, it was closer to hackernews.

Not saying your arguments are wrong per-say. But it will take some time to get started. The good news is federation means different instances will come and go but the protocol means we dont need to stay on any one kind of server. Kinda like email. I use mastodon to talk with peertube creators and use lemmy to talk to other lemmy instances all the time.

multireddits

I think you are spot on here. We need this kind of functionality in order to keep up with instances. For example, lemmy.world/technology and lemmy.ml/technology, etc… could all bu there own multicommunities. Something like /mc/technologies or something saved on a per user perspective. It would transform lemmy overnight I think. multicommunities would make those niche topics have a great deal more action.

Menstruation cycle tracking app breached users' privacy, B.C. class-action lawsuit alleges (bc.ctvnews.ca)

VANCOUVER - A British Columbia Supreme Court judge says a class-action lawsuit can move forward over alleged privacy breaches against a company that made an app to track users’ menstrual and fertility cycles. The ruling published online Friday says the action against Flo Health Inc. alleges the company shared users’ highly...

Wine + proton/valve has made it very easy to run most anything windows related nowadays. I would expect this to help make Linux gain market share.

I’m still on the fence if gaining market share is a good thing ultimately, but I’m hoping to see it play out.

mesamunefire ,

I’ve thrown older games at proton and wine and have made them work. Meantime the same game will work on Windows 10 with heavy modifications and does not work in 11.

Also at work, we are dealing with a legacy app that runs… everything? Or at least just about. It works in Windows 10 but has some bugs in 11. I’m tempted to see if wine can fix the issue lol.

mesamunefire OP ,

Thats so great. I am really enjoying the new lemmy features lately. And communities of course.

Since your an admin, let me know if this community is the wrong place to put this? I didnt know where else. Lemmy seems to be nicer, so I was thinking the up/down votes would be the measure…

mesamunefire OP ,

Fair enough.

Linux market share passes 4% for first time (arstechnica.com)

We see the nearly 33-year-old OS’s market share growing 31.3 percent from June 2023, when we last reported on Linux market share, to February. Since June, Linux usage has mostly increased gradually. Overall, there’s been a big leap in usage compared to five years ago. In February 2019, Linux was reportedly on 1.58 percent of...

The new arch continues to mess up brew, which is by far what people use for development on the platform. In addition, docker and other custom tools are paid on Mac but free on Linux. With companies tightening their belts, Linux is starting to make financial sense.

mesamunefire ,

Does anyone know if updating will remove the emulators if they are already installed on the machine?

mesamunefire ,

Thanks. Guess I have a limited ed steamdeck lol.

mesamunefire ,

Maybe, I would expect redundancy. But ultimately I have no clue. I just remember the last time AWS went down. It seemed that a majority of the sites that I used daily were down all in one go.
