what Are you implying that We need to care about things like Grammar and punctuation

The article states that this bill bans cloud seeding

How big is your place? What speeds does your ISP offer?

Are there any online or in-person communities dedicated to minimizing the influence advertising has on its members? Do you know any strategies to minimize this effect on you?

Is there a lemmy community, for example, where people discuss shopping strategies which minimize the risk of the purchase decision being influenced by Brand Image or Flashy Packaging? Or similar topics. Maybe what product categories have cheapest products that are bad, so you can’t apply an objective criterion while making the...

You forgot: never watch tv or movies because product placement is everywhere. Don’t listen to any music because sometimes they have brands in songs. Keep your eyes closed in public at all times so you don’t see logos on clothing, vehicles, etc.

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Your article does not say that music makes you buy more overall

Why does it matter where it’s made?

jeffw , (edited )
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

I see no evidence of which community this was in.

That being said, I’ve found the politics mods always pretty reasonable. I’m sure @jordanlund could explain. But the mods there allow tons of criticism of dems, so I doubt that’s why it was removed

Every time it gets to a human, we have a higher chance of human-to -human transmission though. But yeah, 1 case isn’t really scary, but still notable.

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

I imagine that refers to market cap

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

A market cap can’t really be “fraudulent”. Stock valuation has traditional methods, but meme stocks have blown the lid off of that in many circumstances. It’s still worth that much because people are willing to pay that price.

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, I honestly was debating posting it in the world community because of that, but the title says American lol

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

I usually post articles in one community at a time anyway. I try to post a different articles to a few different communities each day just to keep things active and varied.

Abuse is okay if the abuser is also a victim? Wtf is this argument?

jeffw OP ,

There’s often no forensic evidence of rape

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

No evidence?

vox.com/…/un-israel-october-7-sexual-violence

It’s like the original posted article says… it always happens

jeffw OP , (edited )
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Jfc some people are dense. What is more likely, that sexual violence occurred as it has in literally every previous attack like this in human history. Or that Hamas acted like puritans while committing terrorism?

Edit: there’s like one good point in your article (“Patten’s report functions as a distraction from genocide”), the rest is BS about not believing victims

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

I hope you never have to go through the trauma of rape while everyone screams “no evidence! People make this up all the time just to hurt men!” All over the internet. Your article literally says there were witnesses and victims shared their stories.

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Eyewitness evidence is not evidence? Do you know how many convictions don’t involve forensic evidence?

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

“You don’t have have air conditioning, it’s not safe for your kids to be here!” - someone in 1800 probably

Just to add, credit limits vary wildly between card issuers. There’s often no rhyme or reason as to why some give such a higher limit. My cards range from like 4k to 12k

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Interesting. I’ve never seen their anti-science stiff

@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

David Foster Wallace

Stephen King

Haruki Murakami

Kurt Vonnegut

Toni Morrison

Just a few names that popped into my head

Edit: some of these are based on popular opinions. For example, I never really got into Toni Morrison

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, I knew he started in the 50s. But you’re right, I looked it up and some of his notable stuff was earlier than I thought

So, I actually reviewed studies on racism for fun once (it was the pandemic and I was curious). Overt racism had decreased since the civil rights movement, but covert racism replaced it at similar rates iirc

It’s like the 6th paragraph before they make it relevant….

It feels good to get things included for free. I used to think including textbooks and other course materials in the cost of college was a good example.

It’s effective to start an article with an anecdote, but not when the anecdote is so long

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

I’d bet if you reframed the question as being about people’s personal interests, more would support it. Whether that’s abortion for fundamentalists or climate for liberals and lefties

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Can you have a community redirect to another on Lemmy? Seems like directing worldnews here would be a good idea

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Was he? I know nothing about his personal life

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

The narrative around trans people, whether it’s bathrooms or sports, is always around cis men pretending to be trans women to invade women’s spaces.

I agree with you except for your last point. Even if you don’t have a personal interest, it’s a massive industry with hugely influential celebrities.

jeffw OP ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

That point makes sense, but why drop TWO bombs days apart? That’s sickening.
