Cities are generally better if you need to walk to stores, restaurants, entertainment, etc. also better public transit

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Most cities in the 100-200k population

jeffw ,

Philadelphia has Fairmount park, the largest inner city park (not counting Central Park, which was manufactured). You can live in a house right up against it. I imagine other cities have plenty of nature too. And even not next to giant parks, many larger cities have home with large yards and tons of trees

That’s one specific promotion, not really the same as embedding microtransactions in the game

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

The money is already appropriated by Congress. Biden is just approving specific transactions. Also, Baltimore doesn’t need $2.5B

I was with you until that last part lol. I’m not ready for a war.

But yeah, no evidence will persuade people. They have super intense beliefs about trans people because they saw something on Fox News or their social media feed. Confirmation bias and whatnot

Data is so valuable to companies. I’m pretty sure this is just a way to get people to rage quit/hit cancel.

That being said, it might not be Rold Gold’s fault. They might just contract out for this service. I swear I’ve seen that processing pop up before and I don’t think I’ve been to Rold Gold’s website, which makes me think it’s a service from a third party

Do you uh… know how WWII ended for Japan?

Nothing will beat Downfall in terms of German movies on WWII

Eh, what are we gonna do, stick anyone who has a hit and run in jail? Jail should be reserved for dangerous people, not someone who commits a hit and run. They had no way of knowing it would turn into a serial thing.

Edit: I should add that purposeful bodily injury is a small subset of hit and runs that would be different than just a regular car crash that damages a vehicle or structure. This case appears to involve multiple attempted vehicular homicides, which is far more serious than a hit and run, which typically just involves fender benders

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Minor property crimes don’t deserve jail time. They deserve fines

@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

A car crash where you typically do less than 2-3k in damage. It does not require bodily injury to be a hit and run

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Hitting an individual is a small subset of hit and runs. Most just involve property damage to a vehicle or structure

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Sure? I’m not defending the dude in the article, who I now know was attacking people. I admit I skipped a few paragraphs and misunderstood this case. But I’m still steadfast in my belief that property crimes don’t deserve prison sentences. A hit and run in and of itself does not warrant being locked up.

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

As I’ve said, this particular case is different. But why would the majority of hit and runs involve injuries? The majority of car accidents do not involve serious injuries. The ones that make the news do, but most accidents are minor

jeffw ,
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

Read my original comment? My point is “why do of they have arrested him after one hit and run?” As I stated to you before, I missed the part where they said the hit and run was directed at an individual. People should not be locked up for run of the mill hit and runs.

a move that could further alienate many Muslims from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist government ahead of national elections.

I don’t think they really needed any more reasons to dislike Modi lol

    Video in a few dozen cases showed some officers mocked people as they died, laughing or making comments such as “sweaty little hog,” “screaming like a little girl,” and “lazy f—.”

    In about 30% of the cases, police were intervening to stop people who were injuring others or who posed a threat of danger. But roughly 25% of those who died were not harming anyone or, at most, were committing low-level infractions or causing minor disturbances, AP’s review of cases shows. The rest involved other nonviolent situations with people who, police said, were trying to resist arrest or flee.

    Windows? They don’t employ multiple chemical engineers at a Novichok legitimate pharmaceutical factory, just to push people out windows any more!

    As others have pointed out, there are rules against treating family/spouse. I’d imagine there are stories of patients and clinicians falling for each other, in which case the ethical move would be to transition care to another provider as soon as possible.

    Here’s the full AMA rule on dating patients that walks you through the steps in more detail:

    That article doesn’t back up your claim at all. It talks about an industry.

    Also, GHG metrics by volume distort the picture when CO2, by volume, is like 25x less potent than methane

    Buddy, these people don’t make 100k. They make 100M. 100% of their charitable contributions count against their tax burden. Please read the articles I linked before you continue to reply with nonsense

    jeffw OP ,
    @jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

    No, that’s not how it works. PLEASE read the article or poke around the IRS website on your own. It does not count against your income, it counts directly against the taxable amount you owe.
