I was browsing the list of games last night. There are so many that you can just scroll for hours.

Imagine that…

Most patients predicted that their worst symptoms when exposed to gluten would be classic lower digestive problems like diarrhea, bloating and cramps. However, none of these occurred during the acute immune responses observed by Anderson’s team. Instead, patients experienced nausea and vomiting. Anderson describes them as,...

ExtraMedicated ,

Doctors seem way to quick to assume that patients are imagining their symptoms. I fortunately haven’t had that happen to me yet, but my mom has some stories.

ExtraMedicated ,

There were so many unlockable challenges too. I don’t think I was ever able to unlock everything.

ExtraMedicated ,

So that’s why my constant inner-monologue is verbose and meaningful, but I can’t communicate for shit?

ExtraMedicated ,

That’s a decoy. The real cat is behind you, ready to strike.

ExtraMedicated ,

I found some new webcomics while browsing Lemmy and bookmarked their websites to visit occasionally.

ExtraMedicated ,

My mom was a nurse. For her there was no down time. Usually she couldn’t even stop to eat lunch. She’d just grab a granola bar or something and keep going. Hospitals are dangerously understaffed.

Yet there were still some people who would stand around chatting or whatever while her arthritic ass ran around the floor taking care of people.

ExtraMedicated ,

In most lines of work, that’s perfectly fine. In a hospital, someone can die if there isn’t enough help.

But again, this is entirely the hospital management’s fault for failing to properly staff their hospitals.

ExtraMedicated ,

Whoa, not what I was trying to say at all. Nor was I implying that OP or anyone else here is lazy.

There’s a huge difference though between not getting a break and not being willing to do what is expected of you (within reason), and this isn’t really something that can be generalized so easily.

Again, I never meant to imply anything about any particular person, so I apologize if it came across that way.

ExtraMedicated OP ,

Thanks for the link. I wasn’t aware of that site.

ExtraMedicated ,

This reminds me of 8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife. I’ll definitely want to check this out.

ExtraMedicated ,

Yes. It seemed pretty standard at first, but I ended up enjoying it quite a bit.

ExtraMedicated ,

There’s been a few times where I had to look into an issue and found a comment I wrote much earlier with a ticket number or link to a previous ticket that explains exactly why this new issue is actually the intended behavior.

It’s really helpful when the product owners clearly can’t make up their minds about what they want their apps to do.

ExtraMedicated ,

Ideally, you would set this up ahead of time and won’t need to see it. But the thing that annoys me about outlook’s out-of-office thing is that by default, it just turns on for people in your organization. So if you forget to turn it on for everyone you can have an annoyed client wondering why you haven’t responded all week.

ExtraMedicated ,

I feel like people must be tired of me recommending the same few games (you know, if anyone cared enough to read all my comments), but I’m the type of guy who is pretty much only interested in finding the more hidden gems, and I generally ignore the stuff that keeps showing up on the front page of Steam.

  • The Upturned - A cartoony horror-comedy game with a great sense of humor.
  • Withering Rooms - The story is interesting and the atmosphere is great.
  • Your Spider - This one is possibly my favorite indie horror game.
  • Exanima - Read about the features. This one is more impressive than the screenshots make it look (at least for me).
  • Lunacid - I love the visual style and atmosphere of this. I also enjoyed Lost in Vivo by the same developer.
  • Praey for the Gods - This one is for anyone who’s looking for more games like Shadow of the Collossus.
  • 8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife - This is a decent metroidvania with a charming story. If you enjoyed Hollow Knight, then you may also enjoy this.
ExtraMedicated ,

There’s a lot of people who seem to expect games to keep getting updated. Growing up, if I bought a game (with my mom’s money of course), that game was complete, for better or worse.

Now kids seem get upset because I don’t want to add new characters to a shitty little game I released 5 years ago.

ExtraMedicated ,

Does it seem unethical to anyone else that Experian reports credit scores and also has a service to boost your credit score? Like “pay us or else we’ll tell people you’re poor.”

What games do you recommend for my girlfriend?

My girlfriend has never really gamed. But she’s now forced to move less than she would like to (health problem) and she’s getting bored. I was thinking of introducing her to a game or two that we could play together. She’s not the real action game type, and seeing as she has no experience with controller/mouse and keyboard...

ExtraMedicated ,

I’ll second this. I finished playing it the other week.

It’s a singleplayer game, but seems like it would be fun for two people to discuss all the clues together.

ExtraMedicated ,

I don’t even fold it. I use it until it’s well past time to throw it away.

ExtraMedicated ,

I feel like we need a community dedicated to “find the _____” pictures like this.

ExtraMedicated ,

I fucking hate wordpress. I get assigned a simple task to implement something on some page and find out that the code I need to edit isn’t in a Git repo, but instead it’s in a basic textbox buried somewhere in a page template. The code is stored in a database instead of version control because the people who built the site don’t know any better.

ExtraMedicated ,

Right. But if the theme is selected by someone who doesn’t work with code, and who builds the rest of the website with drag’n’drop widgets and unmaintained plugins, you’re in for a bad time.

ExtraMedicated ,

Was Nekketsu Kouha Kunio Kun released as “Renegade” in the US? That screenshot looks a lot like the second stage. The characters’ clothes look different from what I remember though.

ExtraMedicated ,

Code Name: Viper would be on my list.

ExtraMedicated ,

I’d love to try it, but I don’t want to buy yet another console. If I could play it on Steam Deck, that would be ideal.

ExtraMedicated ,

Looks like a bit of litter got stuck to his foot. Like toilet paper on a shoe.

ExtraMedicated ,

I have only the vaguest memory of something on what I think was the Atari, but I’m not even sure if we ever actually owned that console. I think the first game I actually remember playing was Super Mario Bros, on the cartridge that also had Duck Hunt.

ExtraMedicated ,

I’ve been happy with many, if not most, of the early access games I bought. But I tend to stick with cheaper indie games anyway. I don’t think I’ve paid more than $30 dollars for a game in over a decade.

What are some hidden indie gems nobody knows about?

Which indies did you discover and would love more people to know about? I’ll start: The Pale Beyond. Not sure if it’s a hidden gem tbh, but it’s such a good story rich game. I laughed, I cried and felt the characters struggles. If you like story rich games/ choices matter, check it out.

ExtraMedicated ,

I’ve mentioned these before and I’ll do it again:

  • Exanima - Read about the features. This one is more impressive than the screenshots make it look (at least for me).
  • Lunacid - I love the visual style and atmosphere of this. I also enjoyed Lost in Vivo by the same developer.
  • Praey for the Gods - This one is for anyone who’s looking for more games like Shadow of the Collossus.
  • The Upturned - A cartoony horror-comedy game with a great sense of humor.
  • Withering Rooms - The story is interesting and the atmosphere is great.
  • Your Spider - This one is possibly my favorite indie horror game.

I actually remember the teacher having us do this in high school. I tried it again a few years later and it didn’t really work anymore.

ExtraMedicated ,

I ended up installing LineageOS and have been getting updates almost weekly ever since.

ExtraMedicated ,

True, but still beats the maybe 1 or 2 updates I got over the lifetime of my other phones.

ExtraMedicated ,

Let’s put the blame where it belongs. Asshole narcissists who want to control everyone by any means, whether it be force, deception, or a twisted interpretation of religion.

ExtraMedicated ,

Yeah that 4th movie sucked so bad it somehow ruined the original trilogy for me.

ExtraMedicated ,

She wouldn’t have needed to if he would get off his lazy ass once in a while to help.

ExtraMedicated ,

I haven’t bought a Ubisoft game since Farcry 3 when a friend invited me to join an online game (which is something I very rarely had the opportunity to do) but the game wouldn’t let me play because I didn’t have that subcription thing they had. I tried using the free signup code that came with the game, but my brother already used it. So yeah, I have a personal grudge against that shitty company.

Also, I hate what they did to the Rainbow Six franchise. The original games (by Red Storm, I think?) are what those games should’ve been.

ExtraMedicated ,

I figured the GOP just kept replacing him. Like a goldfish.

ExtraMedicated ,

Might be doable with Android, but I think Apple still doesn’t allow installing apps outside of their own store.

Researcher looking for cat owners to aid novel study on cat vocalisations (it's quick and simple!) (lemmy.world)

Hello everyone! I am looking for cat owners keen to help out with a research project, I am studying cats to see whether we can estimate their age just by their voices. 🗣️🐈 For this, I need data. Lots of it....

ExtraMedicated ,

My 17+ year old does seem to have a slightly raspier voice than she used to.

ExtraMedicated ,

I sent one.
