Plenty of actual photographs exist with Palestinian children wielding rifles and Hamas headbands. Perhaps the AI is just trained with those images as well?

fosforus ,

Perhaps it’ll start working with Wayland in 6.1 then ;)

fosforus ,

Good start, but they’ll need to stop imagining they can keep Crimea.

Do you mean the referendum that was held after Russian forces had annexed it? The one that they claimed received a 97% vote for the integration? That referendum?

Yeah, I’m sure that was legit.

The last time they were polled about this, 66% was for joining, and the trend for that number was going down. Some other figures were much lower to begin with. I do agree with you that it would be interesting to know now where that number would actually, truthfully be.

fosforus ,

Horseshoe. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

fosforus ,

And if he doesn’t win, they will respond with violence.

I sure hope that violence monopoly that the legal government wields can be used for good also. They were a bit lackluster on Jan 6th but perhaps they learned something there.

“When he came of age for conscription into the Israel Defense Forces at 18, he was exempted from service by the IDF due to his extreme-right political background.”

What a guy. I thought militaries (and police) love those people.

fosforus ,

Jabalia refugee camp consists of an area that is 1,4 km^2^. It had a registered population of about 50 000 inhabitants in 2017, who knows how much these days. It’s not exactly a small place, even if the term “refugee camp” might give that image.

So who knows. Perhaps they’re just murdering civilians, or perhaps a place like that is a perfect breeding ground for extremism.

Somebody told me recently on here that “Hamas is facing a genocide” apparently without any sort of irony or remorse.

fosforus ,

Hamas and Israel are both enemies of the people.

Uhmm. Are you aware that Israel is #4 on the World Happiness Index this year? It’s the happiest non-scandinavic country in the world. You don’t get there by being “enemy of the people”.

Here are the rankings of Israel’s neighbors:

  • Egypt
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon (second worst of all measured)
  • State of Palestine

Israel is obviously not the problem in that area.

fosforus ,

I dunno, as – believe it or not – I’m not part of IDF. But you can of course wonder: are they fighting a popularity war or an actual one?

fosforus ,

You must understand that you cannot explain it away like that. Palestine perhaps you might, but funnily enough, it’s the happiest country of those four.

fosforus ,

Why not? Literally just give any explanation.

Egypt’s, Jordan’s and Lebanon’s bad standings in the happiness scale cannot in any way be explained away by Israel. Just because you lost several wars against an enemy several decades ago isn’t enough to explain any of it. So it’s all on them. As I said, Palestine’s bad situation might be explained by Israel, but again, it’s the happiest of those four.

You didn’t even try to explain in your first comment how “happiness” has anything to do with this.

You said that both Hamas and Israel are the enemies of the people. I disproved that notion by noting how Israel is #4 happiest country in the world. My apologies, I thought the inference was obvious.

capitalist imperialism

Are you aware that this is a marxist concept?

fosforus OP ,

Not sure. Here’s another source lbc.co.uk/…/hamas-october-7-attack-repeat-israel-… – but it basically links to the original source.

The guy is famous enough to have a Wikipedia page, that lists some of his sayings: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghazi_Hamad

fosforus OP ,

Ah, thanks for the information. The guy is real though: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghazi_Hamad

fosforus OP ,

I think founding Israel where it is was a huge geopolitical mistake, but I don’t know how that knowledge helps at all today when that mistake is completely solidified.

fosforus OP ,

I was going for Φωσφόρος aka light-bearer aka Lucifer actually with this username. Any similarities to horrible weapons of war are accidental.

Would you describe the sun as being “not very cold”?

Would you debate somebody who casually employs nazi dog whistles?

The Economist is known for being over-the-top dry almost to the point of humor when talking of horrible thing and how they affect economy.

fosforus ,

That’s… what literally every country would do in a state of war. Isn’t it?

fosforus , (edited )

You forgot quite a significant thing when it comes to Twitter’s devalutation. Musk delisted Twitter on Nov 8 as part of his acquisition. The worth of a private company is a bit more difficult to figure out compared to the worth of a public company.

fosforus , (edited )

Nakba is David vs Goliath except David is a fascistic terrorist organization and ever-growing Goliath kicks the shit out of David every time.

Perhaps don’t rely on a religious fascism for your liberation? Have you ever tried that?

fosforus ,

Come on, my analogy wasn’t that difficult.

fosforus ,

Ok, I’ll spell it out to you. In my analogy:

  • David: fascistic government of Palestine (also called Hamas)
  • Goliath: Israel

I’m aware that in 1 Samuel 17, David is Isrealites, whereas Goliath represents Philistines. My analogy is a kind of a subversion of this traditional story.

fosforus ,

Can I have a pony? No wait, a unicorn.

fosforus ,

Fully, you say?

I use -f 22 to set a lower quality actually, because most videos on youtube are needlessly larger than my 5K monitor.

fosforus ,

It’s not a surprise that his weird decisions and advertiser escapes has diminished the value. $19 billion is still quite a large company. As a practical example, the most expensive thing I own is almost a hundred thousand times cheaper.

Incidentally, Twitter stock price in March 2022, before Musk announced the acquisition, was about $32. So in a sense, it was worth $25 billion at that point.

fosforus ,

then by that same logic, Hamas would be justified in blowing up Israel’s capitol buildings to kill Netanyahu.

As this is a war (started by Hamas, but still a war), then yes, of course they would be “justified” in doing that. And Israel would then be justified in reacting to that. I’m sure they would do that if they were able to.

Fucking hell, not only that, but this logic defends the Hamas attack on Israel too.

Now it does, but not before the war was on. There’s however the subtle difference that Hamas primarily targets civilians. They attack soldiers only as self-defence or when the soldiers are in the way of murdering civilians. Israel works in an opposite way, they only target Hamas soldiers. Given how they don’t give much of a fuck for collateral damage, the end result looks similar, but intentions do matter. It implies that when Israel wins this, almost all gazans are still alive. If Hamas won this, Israel would vanish.

fosforus ,

Oh? Why are you sure about that?

fosforus ,

I bet some large amounts of money against his win the last time he was on, because I thought that if he gets a second term, everything gonna be completely fucked anyway so it won’t matter if I lose a few monies. That worked out fine.

I’m scared to do it the same way this time for some reason.

fosforus ,

Either it’s a security risk handled by Israel or a huge open security risk due to them going underground as Hamas operatives.

Ok, ok, ok. It could also be a blatant disregard of their human rights by Israel.

fosforus ,

Even though I broadly support their war against Hamas, Netanjahu is a fucking disaster.

fosforus ,

Well let’s agree to wtf is this discussion anyway then

Elon Musk gives X employees one year to replace your bank - ‘You won’t need a bank account... it would blow my mind if we don’t have that rolled out by the end of next year.’ (www.theverge.com)

“If it involves money. It’ll be on our platform. Money or securities or whatever. So, it’s not just like send $20 to my friend. I’m talking about, like, you won’t need a bank account.”...

fosforus ,

His net worth is currently ~$250B, making him the richest man in the world. In year 2000, his net worth was some tens of millions. He certainly got a good start from his parents, but to say that the richest man in the world is “absolute worst at managing his money” is just… anti-reality.

fosforus ,

It’s of course possible that he used to be good with money and currently is bad with it. But you just don’t get to that #1 spot with just pure luck – unless we go philosophical and think of everything being based on luck.
