Some day I should listen to a Taylor Swift song. And I haven’t really been avoiding her either, just somehow never happened.

fosforus ,

Did you just completely ignore what Genericusername wrote and decide to reply to him anyway?

fosforus ,

You don’t see the logical pattern here? This is about being against fascists like Putin and Hamas. Nobody is claiming that our side is filled with lawful good angels, only that the other side is mostly assholes whose main goal is to fuck everything up. Therefore it should be obvious who to root for.

fosforus ,

For practical purposes, Putin is pretty much as safe as the Hamas leaders.

fosforus ,

Hamas aren’t fascist.

They are objectively by definition fascist, and as you defend them, you are defending fascists. You should be deeply ashamed of yourself.

Are Ukrainians fascist to you?

No. What kind of a fucked up question is that?

fosforus ,

You really shouldn’t be making that kinds of comments with the comment history you have. But then again, so shouldn’t I. Nor really anyone, irregardless of their comment history.

fosforus ,

That would be appropriate, since a lot of people in the LGBTQ community behave like they were in a fundamental religion.

fosforus ,

It’s probably easier to say what professions are clearly behind the line. Nobody’s going to be harmed if a photographer denies someone a service. And would they have wanted a forced service from a photographer who’s so clearly against their core values anyway? That seems like a recipe for lousy pictures.

fosforus ,

Generally speaking it’s almost always a bad idea to force somebody who’s diametrically opposed to your core values to work for you. I don’t understand how they would have wanted this to ideally go? That the photographer grinds their teeth while being forced to take photos of them?

fosforus ,

I think it’s a bit silly to apply Popper to an issue about taking wedding photographs. Popper himself published the idea in 1945, in a time where intolerances were a bit more on the serious side.

fosforus ,

That’s the point, I think?

fosforus ,

Lol, yeah probably not like that. But that’s one sort of conspiracy theory I suppose.

fosforus ,

Well, it’s Monero. It has clear value in buying drugs safely. Almost all darknet sites support it… I’ve been told.

fosforus ,

So… we should have more millionaire parents?

fosforus ,

Being on an instance that has defederated the communist duo helps a lot.

fosforus OP ,

Now let’s see Paul Allen’s card.

fosforus ,

The source for that figure is Hamas, essentially. It could be correct, but it also could be complete bullshit for obvious reasons.

fosforus ,

Hamas are palestinians, so obviously we want some of them to die.

fosforus ,

Do you think Israel would have attacked Gaza without Hamas’s devastating terrorist strike about a month ago? Some people in Israel are obviously excited about the opportunity Hamas gave them, perhaps, but it’s quite a lot about Hamas.

fosforus ,

A global pandemic is bad for the economy. Who woulda thought.

fosforus ,

When somebody breaks a window, GDP grows. Hence GDP is just a guesstimate towards how the economy is functioning.

fosforus ,

Are you calling what I commented a random claim or referring to something else?

fosforus ,

I’m not looking for glory, but I have a weird (probably unscientific) thought that if I don’t take a fever-lowering med, it makes the sickness go away faster. Because there’s a good reason why my body is doing that. But that’s about more than just a headache though.

fosforus ,

Certainly not. Not being anti-semitic is a very low barrier to climb over, so it doesn’t really mean much.

fosforus , (edited )

“How many more deaths will it take for this assault to be brought to an end – 50,000, 100,000?,” said Fikr Shalltoot, the group’s Gaza director.

So just as an honest admittedly pretty loaded question: Why doesn’t Hamas surrender? Why isn’t that choice even being considered by apparently anyone? I’m pretty sure Israel would stop this war if they just turned themselves in.

(probably because after what they’ve done it would be an automatic death sentence, and they fear death more than what their religion recommends)

fosforus ,

Looks like it’s all going according to Putin’s plan.

Which plan? Almost certainly not his first plan. I think plan B and C have been tried also.

fosforus ,

He actually did take Australia but nobody noticed since they thought it was a typo. It’s been a nazi country ever since.

fosforus , (edited )

Why would you demand a negative thing for another group to counter a negative thing for one group? That makes no sense.

But also, “American children” has plenty of cultural material to build an image from. Probably some of it is obese and filled with junk food, but a good portion is most probably something else. In contrast, the only public photo material of palestinian children is either from adults carrying them away from some atrocity or adults giving them assault rifles and parading them for the cameras. In short, they seem to only exist as propaganda material.

fosforus , (edited )

Not sure about this really. You have a great point with the martyr risk, but then again, if Hitler had been executed in 1924, would the whole nazi thing have fallen on its face? Trumpism (much like Hitlerism) is a person cult. Perhaps killing their leader is exactly the kind of thing what people like Trump supporters respect and positively respond to.

The best way to get rid of someone is by shaming them

I think we can be pretty certain that this strategy is not working against Trump. Unless you find a shaming angle that actually works against his supporters. I have no idea what that could be since just about every angle that would work on normal people has been tried out.

fosforus ,

Hitler was imprisoned almost 100 years ago, in April 1924. Perhaps Trump is going by the playbook. Hitler was 34 years old then though, so that part is a little different.

fosforus ,

How many civilians did the Tiananmen Square rebels rape and murder?

fosforus ,

Watching and hoping them quick success, at least for my part. A prolonged war would be the worst thing for everybody except the terrorists.

fosforus ,

As a LIbertarian I can happily say that the Chinese Communist party is like a band of angels compared to Hamas. As repressive governments go, they have done an incredibly low amount of shitty things. So I don’t think your comparison quite works.

fosforus ,

just try to imagine a pile of 4000 children

That’s an an impressive feat of coordination and athletic capability for everyone involved. Did you imagine a pyramid, because I did.

fosforus ,

Hamas is the cancer and palestinian civilians are the healthy cells. Do we have means of removing the cancer without damaging the healthy cells? It doesn’t seem like we do. But the solution cannot be to just let the cancer be.

fosforus ,

Why do you presume to think I have no empathy or that I would be disconnected from reality?

fosforus ,

Oh, good one.

fosforus ,

ok, so you wholeheartedly support the Nazis idea of the “volkskörper”.

Well no. If I had called palestinians the cancer of Israel, then my comment would’ve been disgusting bigotry at the level of the original nazis, but I was referring to only Hamas as being cancerous, and, as you might notice, I referred to palestinians as the healthy cells.

It’s not a great metaphor anyway, so perhaps I shouldn’t defend it this much.

fosforus ,

Wow, another good one. You people are amazing.

Some people openly call themselves marxist-leninists in here too so I thought I’d join their “never take what these guys say seriously” club.

fosforus ,

You’re thinking of objectivism.

fosforus ,

Ah, you’re still thinking this is a genocide. Then I understand why you would think I lack empathy.

fosforus ,

A complete (=utopistic) success would be Hamas being completely destroyed and islamistic extremism discouraged generally. It’s not a great fit because of all kinds of differences of these conflicts, but how the Nazis were deposed at the end of WW2 is a great model for how to eradicate fascists.

fosforus ,

Aren’t you saying that you wish Israel could hurry up its process of killing 2.2 million people of which half being children?

What the fuck, no. Do people seriously think that that is the goal? What kind of a warped thought process is involved in this?

fosforus ,

You can make guesses based on those numbers that come directly from Hamas… but speaking of datapoints, I don’t think this is what genocide looks like: worldometers.info/…/state-of-palestine-population…

Perhaps I’m wrong. Those graphs obviously don’t include recent developments. We’ll see some part of the truth properly in a few months, probably.

fosforus , (edited )

Lol nope. I like them, they flirt with me, I 100% notice it, and do nothing. Now that I’m married, it’s not a bad choice, but I did the exact same thing back when I wasn’t.

I don’t know how I got married.
