Traegs , to moviesandtv in What were some movies you had to look up explanations of after watching?

I’ve heard that you can watch that movie in a loop starting at any point and it doesn’t make any more or less sense than starting at the beginning.

I don’t have a webcam. And I didn’t have a functioning microphone for several years until recently.

Traegs , to nostupidquestions in Thinking of visiting a pawn shop. What should I know?

Most pawn shops deal primarily with guns, tools, and jewelry. You’ll also find all kinds of electronics and collectibles, some places may have furniture too.

Not enough people (including you) don’t know that “Nazi” is an abbreviation for “national socialist”.

This meme is about telling Nazis we’re not interested in their BS.

Traegs , to technology in Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple

RCS wasn’t originally supposed to run on data, it only does now because carriers didn’t want to support it natively.

Traegs , to programmerhumor in I swear I didn’t change anything

The other day I launched an old game and got met with an error, something about directX9 and missing a redistributable file or something. Decided not to fuck with it.

Yesterday I launched it again to take a closer look at the error message to see if I could fix it. No error message, game booted without issues.

My confusion.

Traegs , to technology in Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple

Samsung and Google are just now getting around to supporting it

Hey now, I’ve been rocking RCS for three years. The only reason it took so long to begin with is because Google was trying to get service providers to implement it themselves. Google finally said fuck it and started doing it themselves iMessage style and then providers started playing along.

Traegs , to technology in Results of the "Can you tell which images are AI generated?" survey

There are newer AI tools that can do text accurately. Usually it’s with text provided in the prompt though, so it’s arguably not AI generated, just AI placed.

The unreadable AI text you’re familiar with is done without the AI really knowing what text is, and they’re just making something that looks vaguely like it. It’s the same way they normally handle any kind of object or shape. Newer tools are built specifically for text, so it actually is readable and makes sense.

Traegs , to technology in [Survey] Can you tell which images are AI generated?

I got 12/20 and most of the ones I got wrong are the ones I was second guessing myself on.

That sounds like roommates with extra sex- I mean steps.

Traegs , to technology in Kids and teens are inundated with phone prompts day and night

I think it’s important for people to learn how to manage/customize notifications whether it be on the OS level or through each app individually.

I keep a lot of things as silent notifications, so they pop up but don’t grab my attention. They’ll be there when I look at my phone. I think texts/calls are the only thing that makes noise on my phone at all.

Traegs , to fediverse in There is a drop in monthly active Lemmy users (from 65k to 57k)

I’d argue that some people are not tech savvy enough to figure that out. Whereas Lemmy is actually less complicated.

Traegs , to showerthoughts in Most microwaves are tested daily unknowingly.

I had read recently that opening the door while it’s running triggers an emergency shutoff that is quicker than normal operation. Apparently this is bad for the longevity of the microwave.
