Well that’s no surprise. Raising animals for meat is horribly inefficient compared to plants.

Hey, I’m 30 percent chance to hit!

That’s the one. I didn’t see another XCOM community on Lemmy yet, so I made this one a couple of weeks ago. It was one of my favorite subs back on reddit, so I’m hoping we can get one started here too.

Welcome, Commander.

This is basically me during the Avenger defense missions… lol

A lot of XCOM fans seem to also love Rimworld, Darkest Dungeon, etc. The roster management and permadeath creates unique stories for each playthrough.

Ooh, I’ll have to check it out

The_Picard_Maneuver OP ,

That’s the XCOM experience! I love that it feels like a long drawn out war, where you can lose missions and territory, but sometimes still turn it around and win long term.

The_Picard_Maneuver OP ,
@The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world avatar

That’s impressive. I still haven’t been able to beat legendary ironman on XCOM 2.

I’d like to get into the old ones, but the UI is really dated and I’m having trouble figuring out what I need to do. Maybe I need to watch a short video or something.

XCOM 1 was my introduction to the series, and those damned chryssalids nearly broke me.

I used a clone trooper mod for one run, and it was lots of fun. The only drawback was that I couldn’t remember who was who, since they all looked the same.

Thanks! Saving this for when I get an opportunity. I know the old games are beloved and have some hardcore fans, so I really want to give them a fair shot.

Oh, tedium doesn’t bother me! Sometimes in XCOM 2 I spend so much time managing my base that I get mildly annoyed when I have to stop to go on a mission.

I think I just need to grasp what I’m supposed to be doing in the original.

Uh oh, I don’t like them odds.

Either that or there are too many comments and I realize that no human is going to read it.

Browsers are cyclical like fashion, I guess.

Remember when chrome launched and they had all those commercials showing how fast it loaded webpages?

I did this once vs the chosen warlock and felt like a genius, up until I learned the hard way that flashbangs don’t work on him. He just mocked me for trying and then wiped my squad.

The_Picard_Maneuver ,
@The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world avatar

That’s so cool! I would frame it or something.

Is that a bug? It would be helpful to see a total number sometimes.

The dominance of cat content VS dog content on Lemmy reflects its current techie userbase

I originally joined Reddit in 2011, and in the beginning it was dominated by cat content. It was rare to see a post about dogs. Sometime in the mid 20-teens this phenomenon reversed. It’s always been a “pet theory” of mine that this reversal was due to Reddit becoming mainstream, and that it’s initial nerdy/techie user...
