Hey #WritersOfMastodon what are you doing this weekend? The WriteHive Annual Conference starts tomorrow!! This online conference is filled with tons of incredible panels, presentations, and networking opportunities, all FREE! From outlining and drafting to querying to debates to marketing information, we have tons to offer.
"Les murmures de la montagne de métal (Partie 1)", or "Echoes of the Metal Mountain (Part 1)", is now available in both original French and English translation. A #scifi story where history encounter legends.
Today is World Book Day. If you've always wanted to write a novel but never known where to start (or you've started and stopped more times than you can count), be inspired by Justin Taylor's story for LitHub, an apology for why it took him a decade to finish his new book, "Reboot." "I started it on New Year’s Day 2014 and the first thing I did was write longhand for a week. The second thing I did was fail for seven years," he writes.
It's always been hard to make a living as a writer, but in 2024, it's harder than ever. Dirt has published this depressing but essential essay by David Hill, a union organizer turned author, on the grim reality of writing life. "At the time the National Writers Union was founded [in 1981], $1 a word was considered a bare-minimum rate for freelance writing ... Today it is no longer considered the floor, but a ceiling."
It is my pleasure to announce the upcoming release of my new #scifi#novel : "Echoes of the Metal Mountain". It will be available on April 30th both in French and English.
One of the things we did "back in the day" (say early 2000's) was have author groups where maybe 5-10 authors were in a group, we had a website, a newsletter, I guess now there'd be social media presence, and we each agreed to promote the group in each others' newsletters .... I suppose that's out of fashion, but just thinking I'd love to get more 👀 on my books.
As the bird eats
The succulent fruit,
and flowers are kissed
by the host of bees,
I see creatures in my garden
from a world unseen.

Give me your poor, your tired, your book quotes yearning to be free... February 29th edition 😁
I'd prefer quotes from your own work, but it can be from any author or book you'd like to share...
