That’s what I’ve been thinking, too. As a zoomer/zillennial who doesn’t follow it, from what I’ve gathered Skibidi Toilet seems to be just Gen Alpha’s equivalent of YouTube Poops that Milllennials loved and GMod animation shitposts Zoomers enjoyed.

Considering I loved both of these while growing up, and still like rewatching them from time to time for nostalgia’s sake, it’d be hypocritical of me to hate skibidi toilet 😅

I use CoreCtrl to fix my GPU’s atrocious fan curve, which is a necessity since normally it overheats to high hell. With CoreCtrl, I have a nice fan curve that makes my GPU rarely, if ever, run hotter than 70°C.

I used to play Need for Speed: World back in the day, and it had a daily of its own where you’d get to collect some treasures scattered around a random district in the city; doing so would give you a random reward, and the longer you kept up a streak, the better said rewards would get.

I was a broke teenager at the time, and it was the only way I could get remotely good drops at the time, but it was really annoying to do so every day and eventually it made me feel like a slave to the game. I actually kinda felt liberated when the game shut down since it meant no longer having that responsibility, and I don’t think I ever want to get into dailies again.

Honestly I’m very much a hermit plus I play the game very heavily modded, so I’m indifferent about the update if not worried it might break my mods lol

I think it’s absolutely amazing and I don’t regret spending money on it at all! Maybe it might be worth seeing if it’ll go on sale when the update releases just in case, but if not then I think it’s worth a full-price buy imo.

I can try to help. Are you using Linux or Windows? (I admittedly don’t have much experience using git on Windows)

Assuming you use Linux: usually, what I do is create a folder in my Documents directory specifically for handling Git projects (mostly because I like being organized), then open a terminal window there (right-click and press “Open Terminal Here”) or CD to its directory (for example, if it’s in home/<your username>/Documents/Git, run cd ~/Documents/Git).

Then, go to the github page, click the green Code button, and copy the URL there, which you will use to pull its git repository. Normally, you would then do git clone <git URL>, but the instructions say this uses submodules, so you should instead use git clone --recursive-submodules https://github.com/Mr-Wiseguy/N64Recomp.git. Don’t bother making a specific folder for this project because git automatically does that.

Then, go inside the folder containing the cloned git repository, make a folder inside it for containing the compiled build of the project (name it, say, “build”), move inside said folder, and then run cmake … (you may have to install this package first depending on if your distribution includes it or not) and then cmake --build. I think it then should be done.

I played with my PS2 quite a lot when I was young, particularly because it had a much better version of a game I grew up with (NFS Hot Pursuit 2); it then introduced me to other games I quite liked, such as Test Drive Unlimited.

It sadly broke sometime around early 2018 because I didn’t take good care of it. Now I emulate it but still wish my console worked.

I have had a LOT of issues, but they’re mostly of the papercut variety - and most of them have to do with Plasma 6 rather than Fedora 40 itself (at least I think so).

I think my CPU is running hotter on 40 than it was on 39, though.

Yeah… I largely live under a rock and vastly prefer indie games (and older/abandoned big-name games) to most of the usual AAA games and live-service games.

Which makes it quite funny when I see so many Gamers complaining about how “gaming is dying” due to the enshittification of mainstream games, when I’m quite happy under my rock and sheltered from all that 😅

I’m a pretty big fan of an online-only game that was killed while I was still in diapers, and I can only play a limited debug build of it that was leaked by a disgruntled developer who was mad the game was shut down. I often wish I had been able to experience it the way it was originally intended to.

I don’t have The Crew, but what I’m seeing lines up very closely to my situation, so I relate to it. And this is a cause I most definitely support, so I really hope this works out. I hate when games end up as permanently lost media…

Yeah. My country used to be a capitalist dictatorship in the 60s-80s and it very, very much kept people who disliked it from escaping it, and then tortured them for being “unpatriotic”. And as ICastFist mentioned, there are several other capitalist and even “democratic” countries out there that very much build walls to keep people from leaving, too.

I initially assumed this meme was criticizing capitalism due to pointing out how the rich plunder and oppress the poor (i.e. the US with Latin America, and Europe with Africa and the Middle East), then hoard the profits for themselves while propping up walls to prevent anyone from the places they exploited from getting to also share and experience their wealth and safety nets (i.e. America’s border wall with Mexico, and Europe sinking refugee boats while fanning fascism to pin economic issues on the migrants rather than the capitalists themselves), but reading the OP’s replies it seems the meme was actually made in defense of capitalism…?

Honestly, between this and the “you’d be morally obligated to vote for 99% Hitler” nonsense, neoliberals seem to be really, really bad at defending their own ideology, lol

Yes, for over a year now (since early December 2022, don’t remember the exact date).

My experiences with it seem to constantly be different than that of most users, because Wayland was a direct upgrade for me - I couldn’t play games properly on X11 at all because they would stutter and freeze really badly even when Vsync was disabled and the game reported to be running at 60 FPS, but Wayland fixed the issue altogether for me.

…Granted, I’m on an AMD card. If I was on Nvidia it’d probably be another story entirely. :x

I’ve been playing a lot of Broken Reality to get my fix of “retro-style internet simulator” after finishing Hypnospace Outlaw. I’m also getting back into Cassette Beasts, especially after a cool new mod (Living Wirral) released for it.

Besides that, I’ve been enjoying Forza Horizon 4.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had Linux spew similar CLI errors when booting up complaining about a critical CPU problem, when the problem actually was that it was reading data off of a dying hard-drive. (Removing said drive, as well as replacing it with a new, healthier drive, made the issue go away.)

Not saying your problem is actually a dying storage device, but that it’s possible the issue might not actually be your CPU itself.

Last year’s December marked my one-year birthday of daily-driving Linux as my primary OS consecutively, while this January marked one year of me using a single distro reliably without running into weird issues that’d lead me into a distrohopping frenzy. I am still proud that I managed to pull this off! I guess third time really is the charm.

I had previously tried using Linux two other times before - the first time was around March 2021 when I had to finally upgrade my computer and switch out of Windows 7, and since I didn’t like Win10, I wanted to try out Linux. Sadly, I didn’t know much about it at the time and made a bad first-distro choice in Manjaro, whose installer broke so horribly that it somehow nuked my entire SSD. Lesson learned: Don’t use Manjaro.

Second time was in November (also in 2021), where I mustered the courage to try again after many frustrations with Windows 10, but with a different distro (initially Pop!_OS, but I had a terrible experience with its community and switched to Linux Mint the next day). My days on Mint were pretty great and I still remember them fondly, but there were many things that I needed but couldn’t use as Mint’s repositories were ancient and lacked them (and I didn’t know about Flatpak at the time), so I tried switching to other distros with newer repositories… and kept running into all sort of bizarre, nonsensical issues nobody else had (such as atrocious gaming performance, archives not working, and other things I don’t remember), and my requests for help were often either ignored or responded harshly, so I ended up giving up and returning to Windows…

…Uh, that didn’t last more than 6 months because for some reason Windows 10 hates me and started giving me even worse issues. I managed to find a nicer and more forgiving community of Linux users who could help, so I mustered the courage to try again. And thankfully, with my prior experience, I managed to make it stick this time by finally resolving some of the bizarre issues I had - it got to the point that I sometimes forget I’m using Linux, lol. I’m very glad I could contribute to the 4%.

I know you’re talking about Nvidia specifically, but I find it kinda funny how people say that regarding X11 and Wayland even for AMD and Intel, because for me the experience is literally the opposite – when I try playing games on Xorg, they always stutter and freeze really badly to near-unplayable extents even when FPS counters report they’re running at 60 FPS (or if I set them to the lowest possible graphics), but ever since I switched to Wayland, the issue was just gone and games run flawlessly now. And note that I’m using Plasma, the one people often said had a worse Wayland session than Gnome and Wayland-based WMs.

I don’t know why this is the case for me specifically when it seems like literally everyone else reports the opposite happening to them (and afaik Wine and most Linux games still run in XWayland). Does Xorg just hate me in particular?

I’ve been absolutely obsessed with Hypnospace Outlaw and Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath. The latter has gotten me interested in the retro shooter genre since its gameplay is genuinely really fun (but I don’t really know many such games outside of Doom), while the former has been keeping me in a perpetual state of hype exhaustion waiting for its sequel to come out, which won’t until next year…

Sounds about right, I had nothing but bad experiences with Nvidia on Linux.

My experiences with AMD are far from perfect and I still have some bizarre issues nobody else has , but it was still a pretty big improvement.

I’ve also switched to Fedora Kinoite a little over a year ago after lots of issue-driven frantic distrohopping followed by me having temporarily given up on Linux, and it really stuck for me as well. Fedora Atomic is honestly really cool, and it’s been more reliable than most other distros I tried (even Workstation itself!), and I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way ^^’
