English is such a peach.
It’s bullshit that the opposite of “impeachable” is “unimpeachable” instead of “peachable”
How do CAPTCHAs work without giving you a challenge task?
I have noticed that some CAPTCHA pages, like Cloudflare’s, simply ask you to check a box to proceed. There is no clicking on traffic lights or entering characters. How does clicking on a check box tell them I am not a robot?

If there was more than one Illinois, would they be called Illinoises or Illinoi?
Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a word in English that ends with “is” while being singular, only plurals and uncountables come to mind, so I can’t really follow the examples of other words. What makes it even weirder, I’m not sure how to pronounce Illinoises… Would it be as written, or as if an Illinois was...
Why do some websites have a "Continue Reading" button?
Some article websites (I’m looking at msn.com right now, as an example) show the first page or so of article content and then have a “Continue Reading” button, which you must click to see the rest of the article. This seems so ridiculous, from a UX perspective–I know how to scroll down to continue reading, so why hide...
Is there a difference between customers/consumers?
Part of me thinks there may be, but the way you sometimes see them used interchangeably also makes me think that consumer has taken on much of the same meaning as customer. Maybe depends on from which context you’re speaking, i.e. out/in business?

Motherboard provides more USB ports than B450?
My motherboard provides 4x USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for rear I/O and another 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for front I/O (through the header), but my chipset only supports 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 ports. Where is the support for the other ports coming from?...
Lower Decks: Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?
I really don’t like Lower Decks. Before you downvote, I would never tell anyone it’s bad or that they shouldn’t like it. I just really can’t figure out why most people seem to like it so much....

Why is there often a huge gap between a person being found guilty of a crime and their sentencing hearing?
I was reading about the crypto bro who was convicted of fraud recently, but his sentencing isn’t going to happen until March 2024. Why does it take so long?...

Firefish Mastodon alternative (joinfirefish.org)
I found Firefish which is a better alternative to the standard Mastodon application. It’s compatible with Mastodon and has better features. It allows users to create web pages and the character limit is 3,000 instead of the 500 on Mastodon. It feels like a good limit for the type of site that it is. Plus this means that it can...
