A single song isn’t sufficient to get anything done and you’ll inevitably distract yourself by constantly fiddling with your music choice once the song is over in the next 2 - 10 minutes. Don’t fall into the spotify trap. Instead put on a full album and truly focus for an hour or so at a time.

That said I’ll put on something like Paul Oakenfold’s Global Underground. Disc1+2 which is around 2hours of music. Or a Led Zeppelin album (~45min), or maybe a Symphony.

Yes another person who doesn’t understand why the metric system sucks. American’s (fuck yea) use only useful and descriptive units, so obviously MiB, KiB, GiB, etc. because who cares what the closest rounded Ten’s digit is? The computer world deals in Bits.

I use Kb, Mb, Gb, in my world (networking). And MiB GiB and TiB when I want to know the actual size something is.

PowerCrazy ,

Hey how is “bit shifting” different then division? (The answer may surprise you).

PowerCrazy ,

Metric is intuitive, but also shit. Just because you have 10 fingers doesn’t mean you should formulate a measurement system out of it. In fact if you actually give a shit about intuitiveness you’d go back to the American system which is roughly base 12 and therefore easier for division and manual estimations.

PowerCrazy , (edited )

You literally have no idea why measurement units exist do you?

PowerCrazy ,

The best tool for the job isn’t ever metric ironically enough.

PowerCrazy ,

interesting, so does the computer have a special “base 10” ALU that somehow implements division without bit shifting?

PowerCrazy ,

While humor is subjective, being wantonly ignorant isn’t very funny, it’s sad.

PowerCrazy , (edited )

Base 10 is a completely subjective concept as well. Why 10? Why not 12?
As far as those “subjective” concepts you are poorly satirizing, the reason they exist is because they are human-centric. 100f is “roughly” the temperature of the human body. A cup is roughly the size of your fist, etc. That is the value, not “the only thing” but THE THING. It is the reason the units exist!

A meter could just as easily be the length of my dick and a kilogram the weight of me balls, then we could create a whole system out of it and relate to all sorts of other arbitrary measurements based on water or an ideal hydrogen atom or the exact amount of time a carbon crystal oscillates in one rotation of the earth, or whatever. But all of those are so divorced from human’s, you know the people who this measurement system is ostensibly for, as to be 100% arbitrary. Why do I care how long it takes light to travel from the moon and back, when I just want to buy a rope that I can use to tie my mule to a fence post out of range of my garden? I paced off 25 feet, so I’ll take that length of rope please.
No I don’t know what 833cm is. Please just give me 25feet.

PowerCrazy ,

They are. But you’ve never heard of most of them, and OSes aren’t popular because of their merits.

PowerCrazy ,

Much like America isn’t exceptional, neither is christianity, nor are christian schools compared to any other religious school.

PowerCrazy ,

The question boils down to can an omnipotent being give up his omnipotence. The answer is yes. When he gives up his omnipotence there is no paradox to him no-longer being able to pick up a rock.

PowerCrazy ,

I don’t like that definition because it makes the word meaningless. Omnipotence means all powerful (with in the reference of the speaker, or whatever constraints of the word “power” the speaker is using.) If omnipotence is incomprehensible, then maybe we should invent a different word to convey that idea, perhaps “Godly”. As it is, omnipotence as a word has value in the English language that is distinct from God. Same with Omniscience, or any of the other Omni’s.

Hopefully they get rid of the POW/MIA Flags too.

You know it doesn’t have to be that way right? The government could be funded at a base level automatically just by a simple majority in the senate and the house. But the Democrats love the excuses so that idiots like you will support them anyway.

PowerCrazy ,

The federal budget is legally originated in the house of representative. The details of this budget can be literally anything. They can say that only agency’s that start with the letter A are funded, etc, it doesn’t matter. They could zero out the military budget if they wanted. They could pass universal healthcare if they want. It’s an appropriations bill of a sovereign nation, there aren’t any rules. This bill in whatever form, then goes to the Senate where again, it can be passed with a simple majority.

Yes the rules of the senate allow a filibuster to exist, but any bill can be filibuster proof with a simple majority of the senate. There is no constitution guarantee of the filibuster. The only reason the filibuster exists is because the rules of the senate (which only require a simple majority to change) allow it to exist.

Any funding bill can say, fiscal government spending will stay constant year over year, until a future funding bill changes it q.e.d.

PowerCrazy ,

Simple majority can change it, and historically there have been plenty of options for democrats to do such a thing, but they never seem to want to put provisions in place to help people for some reasons.

PowerCrazy ,

lol, of course it does. Ghouls.

PowerCrazy ,

“I take seven kids from columbine, stand’em all in line, add an ak-47 a revolver, a nine, a mac-11 and it’ll solve a problem of mine and that’s a whole school of bully’s shot up all at one time.”

So this lyric is notable, not just for being edgy, but also because it was a product of it’s time. It was published during the height of tipper gore and hillary clinton trying to appease the “moral majority” by attempting to censor rap music which is called out in the album.

Ultimately the lyric is self-censored because while the artist could have gotten away with it, the label was playing it safe, even though nothing about the lyric would have tripped the moral panic alarm. After all the rapper was white referencing a white event.

PowerCrazy ,

Sounds like the proper answer is to legalize the drugs, nationalize the cartel’s, and call the US drug policy out for the farce it is.

PowerCrazy ,

While I’m a huge fan of municipal water (I live in the city that invented it), lots of cities have horribly mismanaged their water supply, often from privatization, but not exclusively. See Jackson Mississippi.

Larian already made DoS2 (which is better imo then bg3). In any case I look forward to the next Larian project.

PowerCrazy ,

It’s true, you should go either full magic, or full physical within a specific character, however a 2magic/2physical party is great as well since almost all the combat encounters will have a mix of heavy physical armor guys and heavy magic armor guys.

But really once you learn how the action economy works, as long as you don’t gimp your characters by putting dex on a mage or whatever, you can blow up most encounters regardless of the magic/physical make up of the party.

And of course you can also go lone-wolf archer and single handedly win all encounters on your own ;)

One of my college text books on Electromagnetism with the heavy calculus and derivations of Maxwell’s Equations to either Leonhard Euler or Isaac Newton, one of the extremely few people in the 17th century that would be able to understand the math and use the math to actually generate electricity.

PowerCrazy ,

Based?

PowerCrazy ,

I would say in most cases removing their assets is the correct course of action. But for specific egregious cases like this one, giving them the death penalty is fitting.

PowerCrazy ,

Interesting. So Ukraine would be winning except that “munitions are missing,” and of course conveniently the only gains that Russia has made are “symbolic.” Idk, I’m not a decorated arm chair commander, but it seems like if you are missing “munitions” and “hiding” you can’t really conduct a war, let alone win it.

Stratford-upon-Avon ~100k (had to look up the population)
Or if England no longer counts for European, Corniglia, Italy (part of Cinque de Terra)

PowerCrazy ,

I wonder if cutting down the rain forest has anything at all to do with this?

PowerCrazy ,

1Gbps symmetric. Actual speeds ~945Mbps Down and 913Mbps Up. $115/Mo Not the cheapest, but absolutely the fastest and most reliable so I’ll take it.

PowerCrazy ,

The US could keep up, but then that means that telecoms would make less money, so obviously that is a non-starter.

PowerCrazy ,

I doubt the US is trying to overthrow Netanyahu, but if they were, I’m glad of it.

PowerCrazy ,

Counter-point video is the worst way to learn/transmit information. Unless you are looking specifically for a video based meme, then reading is better.

PowerCrazy ,

That is something that is said like common wisdom but even if true, video is a slower way to learn the same amount of information versus reading. Plus monetized video (almost all of them) are going to have a ton of filler content just to hit minimum length metrics, plus sponsors, etc etc.

In addition reading is a better way to get details. If you just want surface level understanding and are basically just wasting time, then sure watch a video. Don’t confuse the understanding you get from the video as worth anything and realize that most videos are just people talking, in which case just reading the transcript and looking at any diagrams they may have would be faster.

PowerCrazy ,

People who buy shitty games which then encourages more shitty games are villains, not victims.

PowerCrazy ,

Boeing airplanes are so perfectly incompetently manufactured that when “the computer” bugs out, all aeronautical physics stop being valid. It’s amazing.

PowerCrazy ,

They did, but they determined the huge russian disinformation campaign was the work of like 5 accounts and 200k in ad-spend on facebook. In other words a wet fart.

PowerCrazy ,

If the US “quits” Nato (they won’t), then Nato is done.
Specifically Article 13:

After the Treaty has been in force for twenty years, any Party may cease to be a Party one year after its notice of denunciation has been given to the Government of the United States of America, which will inform the Governments of the other Parties of the deposit of each notice of denunciation.

Even if Trump becomes president, he isn’t going to withdraw from Nato, he both can’t* unilaterally, and also doesn’t actually want to. So I’m not really sure what the point of this article is except fear mongering for the benefit of the European MIC.

*National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 forbids the president from unilaterally withdrawing from nato. Now that may be unconstitutional (and I would say that act is unconstitutional, but lol that has never mattered for the Military.)

PowerCrazy ,

LethalFrag and Dolphin Chemist are both good.
They are both playing a lot of backpack battles right now since it just entered EA, but they play a variety of games. Fanhots plays Heroes of the Storm if you like Moba’s but not the “hugest ones.”

PowerCrazy ,

Sounds like we should start fining ISPs who can’t/don’t want to keep up.

PowerCrazy ,

The what? I’m pretty sure the “Climate research industry” doesn’t exist.

PowerCrazy ,

And Climate research (like most research) is spread across the world at universities, government agency’s, as well as private think tanks. But it’s more telling that the poster was implying there is some shadowy cabal that is lying to us about climate change. The Climate Industry, “BIG GREEN” whose research is monolithic and never questioned.

PowerCrazy ,

Do you think that using that strategy for 30+ years and seeing things get consistently worse would maybe signal that you should try something else?

PowerCrazy ,

I’m not sure what Trump has to do with anything I am saying?
