I’m not a big CRPG guy but all this talk about Balder’s Gate has definitely sparked my interests, that said there’s three or four games coming out in the next month that I’d much more likely to enjoy (Trine, Lies of P, LOTF and Starfield) so I’ll hold off and wait for a price reduction.

Trying not to commit to anything too strenious with Lies of P and Starfield on the horizon, but I have found the time to start two games over the last few days. Those games are:

XCOM: Chimera Squad

It’s an XCOM game. I’ll probably play a it until I inevitably make a mess of the base management stuff and find my city in ruins, you know, like every other XCOM game that’s come out over the last decade.

The Life And Sufferings of Sir Brante

I started this today and I’m kind of blown away by it in all honesty. It’s a story heavy RPG where you play the role a child born into a semi-noble family. During the game you’ll do an awful lot of reading and then make decisions and judgements based on the character your playing. I’m maybe 2 hours in so far and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever played.

I’m not a massive Bethesda fan, but I’ve absolutely got the preload done on my series X. Gamepass is perfect for that sort of thing.

I think for now it’s probably easier and cleaner if we keep it to one image per post. If the community ultimately decides that’s not a good move going forward then I’m happy to reevaluate a little down the line.

Bin etiquette - advice needed

Here’s the situation - on bin day, I put out my bins with the draghandle facing outwards, because in my mind that means all the bin man has to do is grab the handle. My neighbour however, contends that it is more appropriate to have the bin lid facing outwards as some bin men like to check what’s in the bin before they drag...

Maybe I’m a monster but I always put them sideways on because when the wind rushes up or down the street it has a tendency to push the lid open, or worse, push the bin over.

Without wishing to come across as an a**hole here…aren’t long hours sort of inherent to teaching? Obviously there are going to be ways we as society can make teaching a more enjoyable profession, but how do you go about shortening the work day when you’ve got the school day followed by marking and lesson planning on top?

Few months ago I played Hyper Light Drifter on my Steamdeck and it was an almost revelatory experience. I don’t usually spend too much time with that sort of game but it absolutely drew me in and I finished it inside a few nights.

Honestly I don’t really know. The game feels really tight and I found that just moving the guy around the screen was enjoyable. Obviously the visuals don’t hurt either.

It had a little bit of Tunic in it too (or I guess Tunic had a bit of HLD in it), which is apparently something I absolutely need in my games going forward.

It kind of doesn’t. Me and my brothers will play some Rocket League on a Monday night (assuming our kids are in bed) but aside from that my gaming is exclusively single-player.

Never been a big online gamer, but since having kids that’s basically become a non-starter.

I finished Hogwarts Legacy last night and whilst I think it fumbled the landing to some extent it’s probably one of my favourite new games of the year. I usually prefer a more…focused experience, and that’s the case here, but the game does a fantastic job of getting you into it’s world.

Not sure what to play next. PinocchioSouls is still a month away.

I’ve finally gotten around to watching season Three of Ted Lasso. I’m not sure why they made the decision to push the episodes above 50 minutes; it messes with the pacing and leads to less snappy dialogue…and the shows grasp of the business of football has never been less… realistic.

Aside from those complaints it’s been pretty good stuff.

I think the problem they’ve given themselves is that they pushed it as a cheaper alternative to the X whilst also maintaining that it’ll be able to play the same games.

How do they go about messaging that can’t be the case going forward without pissing off those that spent the money on the S in the first place.

Right but you’re probably a little more clued up to this sort of stuff than the average consumer who’s seen the marketing and thought ‘oh lovely, I don’t need a disk drive’ in this thing.

Both my brothers own the S. It’s an incredible little machine, but imo they screwed the proverbial pooch when they pushed this as a 1080p alternative to the more powerful Series X.

Only takes one though. As soon as someone looking at buying a console sees there’s a chance they’ll miss out, they’ll potentially make the decision to go with the Sony machine instead.

Microsoft already has an exclusive issue, this isn’t doing anything but compounding that issue.

Massive fan of The Martian and Weirs follow up called ‘Project Hail Mary’. It leans a little more in the direction of Science Fiction than the Martian did, but it’s an absolute page turner from front to back.

I work five days in a warehouse. If I go more than five minutes without scanning a box then it alerts the manager and they’ll come down and see what’s occurring.

So yeah. I feel like this stat is more for office sorts who (and I may be wrong here) spend a lot of time on Reddit and Facebook during the work day.
