MintyFresh ,

Do you know if anyone ever plays those defence games? I remember playing a bunch of really fun custom scenario games multiplayer.

MintyFresh ,

It’s a theft thing. Middle managers are concerned about employees purposely making accidents so that they may then eat. It’s all about that money honey

MintyFresh ,

It’s like seeing the Dracula myth reborn. They periodically come to wreak great violence, but always draining. Always unseen. Always feeding.

MintyFresh ,

Most of our houses have to stand up to the cold too (at least presently). Idk how much this affects what kind of designs are possible, but some brain roughage for ya.

MintyFresh ,

Right? Done properly and without profit motivating every decision it could be a good thing. I mean I’m sure someone will find a way to make it creepy and weird, but you never know.

MintyFresh ,

Mint is the basic bitch of distros. Sure she shows up in fugly ugs, leggings, gripping a pumpkin spice drank. But she shows up! Works hard. That girl fucks! Make no mistake, basic bitches make the world go round.

Mint is the shit!

MintyFresh ,

You always believe the latest thing presented to you, no matter how ridiculous. It was obviously the very same time travelers who masquerade as pyramid building aliens, whom are also responsible for Winnipeg, the Harlem shake, and the noble platypus. Getting all willy nilly with the coconuts, fuckin degens.

MintyFresh ,

You’re throwing logic into a shit storm

MintyFresh OP ,

My mom lives in a cabin out in the woods. I found her as a stray a few years ago, dumped her there. It’s a good life for a kitty.

MintyFresh OP ,

Cat physics. A strange and darkart of the fluffiest sort!

MintyFresh OP ,

Stretchy boi!

MintyFresh ,

This is what stops me from leaping to phone Foss.

MintyFresh ,

I used to live in that region. She’ll do some jail, maybe even prison, depending on priors and exactly what went down, but not 30yrs. Just asshole cops making the most out of what they got. No judge will let that shit fly. Maybe in Alabama but not MN.

MintyFresh ,

I never got the dune hype either, book or movie. The latest was fun to watch on the big screen, and the 80’s make is awesomely 80’s in all its 80’s terribleness. But over all it gets a meh from me. And I’m a huge SF nerd.

MintyFresh ,

Deep impact is a great movie! Directed by Mimi Leder. She also directed The Peacemaker, a great 90’s adventure movie with George Clooney and Nichole Kidman. If you’re into that sort of thing.

MintyFresh ,

Ha! When their eyes dilate like that you know shenanigans are imminent.

MintyFresh ,

She’s all around awesome. Always helped people, always gives back. Always been kind. And a certified rock star! I have no tattoos, never seen the allure. But if I woke up with Dolly’s face tattooed I wouldn’t even be angry.

MintyFresh ,

Dried beans. Their cheap AF. Nutritious AF. I make up a pot of soup every couple of days. Soak you beans the night before. Boil next day.

Start a new pot off with butter. Sauteed up onion, carrot, and/or celery(all cheap AF, all optional). Add In meat if you like. Sear outsides but don’t worry about cooking all the way through. Add chicken stock (or water) and boiled beans. Simmer covered 30 min-ish. Add in frozen spinach, cook another 5. Salt and season to taste.

Congrats! You just made a pot of bomb ass soup. For like 3$! You can eat for days off that pot. Delicious AND nutritious. Your gut likes variety, give it to it.

MintyFresh ,

I just watched this movie last night! Seriously one of the coolest pieces of Cinema ever made!

I want the term “parking desert” to take hold in place of parking lot. I hate most aspects of automobiles. The amount land we pave over for storage is just tragic and rude.

We should build solar farms over our parking deserts to reduce human footprint.

MintyFresh ,

Yes! I’m into it. Just imagine the dope ass garden towns we could all be living in.

MintyFresh ,

I run mint on my “home entertainment center”. Just an old laptop with a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Granted I don’t use it for much, but once I had mint on it, I’ve only used the desktop environment. Mostly because I’m leaning back in a slothful, shameful lump, and this is not conducive to typing. So I spend way too long pecking at things with the mouse.

Pain in the ass? Yes.

Way more tedious and time consuming? Yes

Possible? Also yes

MintyFresh ,

I knew a plumber growing up. Dude walked around with a wad of cash that would make a gangster blush. Used to run into him on jobs all the time. By the time I knew him he was one of those elder assholes, would spend 5min saving the day with wizardry and old man strength, and the rest of the day smoking weed and being hilarious. R I P Lionel, you were a good one

MintyFresh ,

Arachnophobia is weird one too. It has it’s roots so far down our brain stem from billions of years of “fuck no spider!” Like flying and confinement are phobias that happen farther up the consciousness ladder. Spiders, and to a lesser extent snakes are in our like bios settings. Came with the motherboard

MintyFresh ,

They’re desperate now days. When I was younger and 20ish I tried breaking in and was basically told if I didn’t have a friend or family in to forget about it. I eventually found myself a niche in the trades, but it was rough and not what I wanted. Now we’re facing this demographic shift away from the boomers and because they where dicks about it then, it’s a thing now.

I encourage any young person reading this who feels the slightest inclination to make a circut of their local union halls.

MintyFresh ,

Canadian!?!? What do you know aboot spiders!? Lol

MintyFresh ,

I just got a credit card to build credit. I’ve never had a loan or card prior to this. The whole thing is so gross.

I hate to get biblical but I’m reminded of the story Jesus fucking up those finance bros with a rake. Shit stays the same apparently. 2k years on and it’s the same shit. I’m not religious AT ALL but if Jesus did come back and immediately started beating wall Street bros about the head and face with landscaping tools…

MintyFresh ,

I know! I’m past the point in my life where I wanna rave, but I feel sorry for kids these days. Who knows what’s stuff actually is anymore what with bath salts and fentanyl. Sucks for the chillen. I had some really good times in barn raves out on the prarie

I don’t want anyone to take this as an endorsement of recreational drugs, but it sucks you gotta risk od and brain damage to do some molly.

MintyFresh ,

Thank you. People will eat organic vegan, apply sunscreen, exercise regularly, but when they get behind the wheel suddenly loose a certain sense of self preservation. And me preservation too! Cause I’m that asshole walking on the too small sidewalks. Assholes

MintyFresh ,

I just switched using mint as my new OS. It was so easy. My computer runs so much quicker now. All my steam games just work. Feel free to DM me if you need any pointers!

MintyFresh ,

You have spoken in a clear, concise, and convincing manner. Well done! You’ve swayed this person.

And you are of course correct in your implication we need to begin design and production of the AR16 posthaste! A gun that shoot through 3 walls is the clear solution. Well done sir!

But in all seriousness you are correct. A nation littered with mentally unstable morons and high-powered rifles is a potently and predictably tragic way to be.

MintyFresh ,

Carless for 15years now. I rent or borrow one occasionally. I even have a class A license (means I can drive with 18wheels and speak seductively on the c.b.) I’m not anti-vehicle by any means, but I am anti these cities and ways of being we’ve built up around them. It’s difficult having conversations about cars with people.

If you’re an American like me you were probably brought up in a life dependent on personal automobiles. It would be indoctrination if it was malintended. I have difficulty expressing how bad our country looks, looking in from a carless vantage.

It’s not a good look tho. Lazy, selfish, really unhealthy. Like I worry about some of you. And just fucking rude to nature. The sheer square footage we have paved over and devoted to these machines is just fucking tragic.

I love walking. Love the bus even when it smells like ass. I hate to be romantic and douchy about it, but you’ll find me out with the unwashed masses, clinging to the last scrap of dignity.

MintyFresh OP ,

Cinnamon I think

MintyFresh OP ,

Lol

MintyFresh OP ,

I went for it, kept what I wanted on an external hard drive and nuked the rest. No ragrets

MintyFresh OP ,

Ya I was wondering why I couldn’t download it in that state already directly to the drive. But I suppose there was already some formatting that needed to be stripped down before it could function as a boot strapper or whatever it’s called.

Seriously thank you all for reaching out. I thought like maybe one person would begrudgingly link me a copy of Linux for dummies, but you all were so helpful!

And it really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I have memories of messing with Linux in like… 04 or 5 maybe? The ease of use has come a long way, applications are just working without fuss. 10/10

MintyFresh OP ,

Probably a day late and a dollar short but here:

I was having issues until I turned secure boot off. I also have to have two graphical drivers running.

This page helped out forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=370633

MintyFresh OP ,

glxinfo | grep -i vendor server glx vendor string: SGI client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI Vendor: Intel (0x8086) OpenGL vendor string: Intel

so this means im using my proccesor and not gpu to render shite?

MintyFresh OP ,

https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/017508da-0352-4bd7-b09c-222a47eca7aa.png

this seems to imply it ll switch the gpu on or off depending on load

MintyFresh OP ,

sam@sam-ROG-Strix-G531GT-GL531GT:~$ prime-run glxinfo | grep i vendor grep: vendor: No such file or directory

prime-run: command not found

MintyFresh OP ,

Ty!

MintyFresh OP ,

Ty, great advice

MintyFresh OP ,

That’s exactly what I’m looking for. I don’t need much out of it. I just can’t take widows shit anymore. The latest update broke me

MintyFresh OP ,

Good to know ty! I’ve heard of proton but don’t know a lot about it. I’ll definitely be looking into it. I have a crappy Nvidia card. We’ll see how that goes
