Sure thing, boss, but question. Which Tony Cakes are we talking about here? Tony Baby Cakes, Tony Ice Cakes, Tony Coffee Cakes, Tony Pound Cakes, Tony Angel Cakes, or that new guy from Scotland… what’s his name… Oh yes, Tony Carrot Cakes?

MeekerThanBeaker ,

That pic could very well be indoors, but it looks outside to me. Could’ve chose a better one.

Amazon Mulls $5 to $10 monthly price tag for unprofitable Alexa service, AI revamp (www.reuters.com)

Amazon (AMZN.O) is planning a major revamp of its decade-old money-losing Alexa service to include a conversational generative AI with two tiers of service and has considered a monthly fee of around $5 to access the superior version, according to people with direct knowledge of the company’s plans.

Eh … it’s not spying. It can’t even understand me when I’m talking to it.

The last time I played this game I felt like the controls were off. Like the camera moving left and right were going in the wrong direction compared to other games. I couldn’t change them in options. Hope they make that change because it was very awkward to play.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

I never had an issue with other games at the time… just this one. Played many Mario and Zelda games and the camera was fine on those.

On a side note, what’s weird is that I used to always invert my vertical camera for every game, but all of a sudden, my brain changed on some game I was playing and now I no longer need to do that for anything else.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Same thing with inflation. People weren’t buying as much crap during COVID. After that, corporations wanted some of that lost revenue so they raised prices and/or shrunk content. Then others followed suit due to need or greed. They all just went further than they needed too to up their profits.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Pretty sure there is a Maga coin already.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

If there were a cartoon definition of slimeball, this would be included.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

I’m sorry. Can you be more specific? Which of the two are you talking about?

MeekerThanBeaker ,

And again, I thank rich people for being test subjects on new technology.

Installed applications can tell IT what software is installed on individual computers. IT usually doesn’t care unless something could harm the computer or network… or until some higher up with nothing better to do tells them to do a search for someone like this.

I’m in IT and even I use a mouse jiggle app just so Teams doesn’t show I’m away constantly. Even when I am working on another program, Teams can show the away status which annoys me.

Not everybody who uses it does it to goof off. Micro-managing is so stupid. There are other ways of knowing your employee is doing work.

It’s difficult to trust any actor who cries during an interview or in court. That’s part of their job.

Anyone else not like the capital E in Elder? Looks like a G.

Can’t wait to play this in 2030.

Maybe in this case, it’s for the best.

It doesn’t help that they also just have the one screen.

They could easily have had a secondary display behind the steering wheel that shows only the important info… but no… they followed Tesla’s model to cut costs with one screen that does most everything.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

The least they could’ve done was include a heads-up projection display as an option.

I’ll bet it’ll be there in future models.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

And that window’s name… Albert Eintwobulletsinthebackoftheheadstein.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

There definitely was a misjudgment in budget projection. They thought the economy was going to continue like it did in previous years.

Here’s a more centrist article from last month:

True. But also true is that a majority of scammers are simply not smart and/or English is not their native language. A phishing email/text that might look good to them, can look really bad to others.

But still, people still fall for the obvious phishing attacks. AI is going to make the phishing appear more legit.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

See? Global Warming is a complete hoax by the fakest of medias. That snow is proof.

This is just for Home edition, yeah? Pretty sure Professional still allows you to create offline accounts without a Microsoft account before joining a domain.

I do know they made it a pain in the ass to find the last time I built a computer, but I did eventually find it… though things may have changed in recent weeks.

Even if he did stop and order at McDonald’s, he’d probably still pay for his meal.

Would be pretty funny for him to go in during rush hour and order free food for everyone waiting in line using the card… though there probably is some fine print.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

But I get why on airplanes they tell you to put your own mask on last.

What did you mean by this? Are you talking about the oxygen masks in the event of an emergency? Because on airplanes you are told to put your mask on first before helping others. This is to prevent you from passing out before helping a child or someone else who needs assistance.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

So… Instead of attacking the company, they are going after their customers. Awesome.

A-hole refuses to recuse himself because he’s an A-hole.

Got it.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Am I going to get another free year of credit monitoring?

Awesome. Wow. 🙃

I feel like I get another free year every year from different companies.

In my experience, in IT, cables are usually the way to go over adapters. Adapters tend to break more often than cables.

Someone else may offer a more thorough differing opinion… like perhaps a very high quality HDMI cable with a high quality adapter may be better than a mediocre off-brand standalone cable, but if the prices/brand are the same… I’d stick with the single cable.

Before USB-C became standard, we stuck with HDMI cables and then had different adapters on hand just for convenience, but if we knew a cable is going to be used in the same equipment for a long time, we’ll try for the single cable.

Man accused of using generative AI to create virus in Japan 1st (mainichi.jp)

TOKYO – A 25-year-old man has been served a fresh arrest warrant for allegedly creating a computer virus using generative artificial intelligence (AI), the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)'s cybercrime control division announced on May 28, in what is believed to be the first such case in Japan....

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Computer virus. Okay. Phew.

Though a computer virus could someday be just as deadly as a regular virus.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

The headline seems to be a bit misleading.

The tests were done during the pandemic where more kids were being tested for other things like depression and anxiety… and then those doctors were also testing some of them for ADHD.

More testing = more cases. Would be nice to know if it’s actually increasing and what the cause might be.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Wait a minute… why is it so hot here? That can’t be good for the… Windows Vista computer?! Where the heck am I?

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Did they really say, “We tried to make this work. Gosh, we tried.”?

Well, golly.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

I’ve been in IT for about a decade now. And I Google stuff all the time to fix issues for our company. But I just know what to look for to find the solution. Most people don’t or are too afraid they may make things worse… which could happen… so they need these services.

And yes, Geek Squad is likely not the best solution, but better for these people to go to the store with their paid service than to call some random number on screen when a “virus alert!” comes on blaring. The problem occurs when the number on screen shows a Geek Squad logo next to it.

Lucas heard the criticism back then too. He admitted that it was a mistake on his part. That’s why he added Lando as a new main character in Empire Strikes Back.

He’s also now married to Mellody Hobson.

I agree.

I was taken aback by this level of CoD: MW2 as many others were:

ign.com/…/how-no-russian-became-call-of-dutys-mos…

It was such a morality issue that came up. I simply didn’t expect it to be in the series. It made me not fire like I normally would. I felt so uncomfortable and guilty being there. It just shows that it’s the person not the game.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Oh, that definitely was their intention… to make you stop and think about your actions. They gave you a choice.

I believe they even give you an achievement for NOT shooting anyone in that scene. Unfortunately, I shot a couple innocents before realizing what was happening.

The first time I played it, I just figured it was just a messed up level. But then I thought about it and wondered why they included it. Totally changed my opinion.

If some conservative parent who doesn’t normally play videogames were handed that without context, they’d be all for banning the thing. And yet they wouldn’t realize it was teaching you a lesson.
