Other than steam is on the deck do people play games on a specific distro?

Infinite_Indecision ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

Has moto said how long OS and security support will be? Might be a deal breaker for me.

Infinite_Indecision ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

Yes, but what if you just impulse buy 5 or so games that you might want to play someday before DD2?

Infinite_Indecision ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

I didn’t skip the stuff in previous acts, and getting close to the end of my first play through on tactician. I’m currently thinking I’m going to land around 250hrs

I’m not going to buy something I’m not going to play right away. I’m not going to buy something I’m not going to play right away. I’m not going to buy something I’m not going to play right away.

OO $35 for every Yakuza game!

Played and beat A Link to the Past for the first time! (lemmy.world)

As a big Zelda hater as a kid, I skipped the series completely. I’ve been going through to experience them all in order now. I really enjoyed the first two games of the series so I expected to like this one too. What I didn’t expect is was that it really is one of the best games on the Super Nintendo if not one of the best...

I just beat this for the first time as well. Please keep us up to date on your Zelda saga. I look forwards to see your reaction to OoT.

The only reason it would be remotely acceptable is to drive the cost per unit down because the rest of the hardware is expensive, but even then it isnt like this is cutting edge stuff. I’d just hate if it had some gimmick that no one will use like the IR sensor, and the go with an LCD.

Is this based on a gov ID? I didn’t see that in the article.

Thanks for the advice. I keep installed apps to a minimum for data privacy purposes. I’ll see if there is any other fat to trim though

Infinite_Indecision OP ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

Thank you. I fairly compulsively keep apps closed to free up memory and also don’t keep many extra apps installed.

Infinite_Indecision OP ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

I’ve considered doing this but I’m hesitant to do this for the first time on my primary device. I figure when I upgrade I may keep this phone to experiment on.

Infinite_Indecision ,

So maybe I’m just out of touch, but who reads this and still wants to use this service?

Infinite_Indecision ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

How did you beat it that fast? I’m 70ish hours in and only starting to get close to done with act 1 maybe.

Its not that I want it. Its what my carrier uses. I would consider changing, but I’d have to get my family to cone with me.

Infinite_Indecision OP ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

So I’m not personally locked into CDMA vs gsm, its just that the carrier appears to be. The exact quote from the device page is

“[US Version] Compatible with GSM Networks including AT&T, T-Mobile and MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) who utilize AT&T and T Mobile networks. This device is not compatible with CDMA Networks such as: Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular”

Looking at it more, it sounds like the problem is specifically the 13 band not being supported by the device.

Infinite_Indecision OP ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

Verizon. It sounds like they specifically don’t have the 13 band.

Infinite_Indecision OP ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

If thats the case then this just made my day! I’m not really sure how to verify that it works without buying one, but I guess I can do some reading.

Infinite_Indecision OP ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

Thank you for your response. Did you have any issues with 5g on any of these phones?

Infinite_Indecision OP ,
@Infinite_Indecision@midwest.social avatar

From what I can find Verizon supports n77 , n260, n26, n2, n5, n66.

The listed Specs for the Zenphone 10 shows the following.

US version DC-HSPA+ (DL/UL): 42Mbps / 5.76Mbps ; LTE 7CA (DL/UL) 2.0Gbps / 211Mbps 5G NR FR1 (DL/UL): 4.92Gbps / 0.55Gbps

5G Non-Standalone (NSA): n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n38, n40, n41, n66, n71, n77, n78

5G Standalone (SA): n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n38, n40, n41, n66, n71, n77, n78

FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 30, 66, 71)

TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42)

WCDMA (Bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 19)

EDGE/GPRS/GSM (2, 3, 5, 8)

Does that seem like enough overlap?

Thank you for your response on this. I’ll dig in a bit to see if this will work or not.
