To be fair, almost all wireless earbuds are shit for repairability. The one possible exception I can think of is Sony’s WF-1000XM3, which still require a pick to change the battery.

And as a headphone geek who buys a lot of different overpriced headphones for his electronic instruments, I can’t say that I hate AirPods for being out and about.

They pair and transfer well, and the ANC / transparency is solid. They’re a bit overpriced, and you’re going to have to trash them in several years like most other BT buds, but they’re pretty damn solid before the battery goes to shit.

Yeah, but box office records are often not adjusted for inflation. People frequently compare movies from a several decades ago, which even at 2% inflation, ads up over the years.

IMHO, it’s not worth getting caught up in the detail. The point is that Barbie is making a fuck load of money. It’s over $200m US domestic since it opened on Friday, and the movie cost $145m to make. No one’s going to lose money on Barbie. They going to make a grip. Especially after you count international tickets and all the damn toys and merch.

I feel like most of the critical news and politics makes it to the top political communities here, but without the 5000 articles of people rehashing the same stupid story over and over. If I read Lemmy world or beehaw news and politics, I have the gist of what’s going on.

Everything else is the meme trend of the week here. Not pooping, beans, vintage memes, Ohio, etc.

I was pretty religious for decades (Christianity) and things like money and power were all up in there. In theory, it wasn’t supposed to be, but it absolutely was.

Well, all I can really do is speak for my experience.

I’m a big fan of the New Testament’s teachings on loving your fellow humans, not judging others, forgiving others, and treating people the way you’d like to be treated. That said, there were a lot of people in my churches / fellowships that claimed to care about that stuff, but got so caught up in the other dogma that they ended loosing site of JC’s main teachings.

My motivations for non-belief are not driven by idolizing money or material things. I’m kind of a hippy and I distain people that overvalue that stuff. I simply of the belief that I don’t need to understand the afterlife in order to be a kind an empathetic human being. Life is hard, and since most of us have experienced hardship, we know what it’s like when other’s are suffering hardship. So we should try our best to love each other and help each other out.

I take offense to people judging me as a materialistic capitalist without taking the time to get to know me. I’m not happy with people that hoard wealth, I hate materialism, and I’ve spend the last decade volunteering my Saturday and Sunday working in recovery clinics to help my fellow man… because life is hard, and sometimes you need someone to help you out without casting judgment.

Re judgement: I wasn’t the one saying atheists are ignorant, materialistic, capitalistic people whose reality revolves around money.

And yeah, I take offense to someone calling me those things when they don’t know me from Adam. Matthew 7 - judge not buddy.

I try to live a life that prioritizes kindness, love, service, and charity to my fellow humans. I’m totally fine if you want to call BS on that. Feel free to say I’m a selfish money grubbing dolt, but I ask that you at least get to know me first before you start casting aspersions.

It doesn’t matter which one you sign up for. Most of them talk to one another. For example. Lemmy.ml people can subscribe to and read Lemmy.world communities.

Lemmy can also talk to other “fediverse” social media platforms like Kbin. You often see a lot of Kbin users in Lemmy comments.
