Shooter dead and audience member killed

A person believed to be a shooter at today’s Donald Trump Pennsylvania rally is dead, as well as an audience member in attendance, the Butler County District Attorney has said.

In addition to the two fatalities, one other person is believed to be in a critical condition.

On the other hand, if I was an unhinged person with a gun and I thought there was a good chance a fascist dictator might run the U.S., I might be inclined to try to do something about it.

Oh Trump will absolutely bring them up at every single rally to froth up the crowd. Because he may be the martyr they care about the most, but the martyrs who actually died will be great ammunition (I can’t think of a more appropriate word, sorry) to rile up the crowd.

I’m pretty sure a lot of the people here are (or at least me) are being joking/sarcastic about the false flag conspiracy.

I’m not sure of that at all, especially when emotions are running high.

I’m not absolutely discounting the possibility they they somehow found some schlub to die in a fake assassination attempt, but I’m also not going to come up with conspiracy theories until there’s been some time to go over evidence and analyze the situation.

As I said to someone else- that is the literal definition of a martyr, not the political concept of a martyr. The latter is what matters. There are plenty of examples of political martyrs who survived and did well because of it. The most prominent right now is the House Majority Leader, Steve Scalise, who survived the mass shooter at the congressional baseball game a few years ago and has been riding that sympathy wave ever since.

A little story about why Richard Simmons became a fitness and diet guru. He was in the Frederico Fellini film Satyricon and he was fat. A fan wrote to him and said, “fat people die young, Richard. Please don’t die.” He took it to heart and his relentless positivity became an inspiration to so many people.

I think it probably does have a low success rate. Very few people can be shamed by strangers into making such a big change in their lives… But it probably has a higher success rate for someone who wants to be in movies and TV since body image is a big deal there as is looking healthy.

Anyway, I am glad that, whatever the reason, he became the delightful person we will remember him as.

And yes, the Who’s Line episode he was in was a real classic. I wasn’t a huge fan of the American version of the show, but that one is undeniably just hilariously funny.

Absolutely necessary. Body image issues are huge and lots of people think they are too ugly for anyone to want to have sex with them. Unlike Dr. Ruth, most people having this public discussion conform to societal beauty standards and that makes people think that they won’t get to have sex unless they live up to those standards.

Body image issues coupled with social anxiety is a path to inceldom.

Note that I never suggested she was ugly.
