As we operate now we would not have to tools to add anything meaningful to a galactic conversation.

We could all personally think it’s awesome, but as a people we are simply unequipped to deal with the consequences of meeting an extraterrestrial race.

They don’t, the Fed is sort of the hammer to break glass in case of emergencies, but the legislature has refused to do anything productive or helpful for citizens.

For years the fed just printed money to stave off an economic collapse. The legislative branch bought stock instead of passing laws and regulations.

I wonder if years of fleeing the front page to niche subs conditioned us all to try and make niche subs here when we should just be shooting the breeze right here on front street.
