I currently have OPNsense setup inside a proxmox server, and I am having trouble connecting to the internet. It seems like it could be related to DNS. When I ping www.google.com from my lan client (a fedora machine), I get “name or service not known”. When I ping 8.8.8.8 it is successful....

I reside in an apartment complex where the internet services are not controlled by the management, but instead, they are managed by our ISP, Telcom. Unfortunately, Telcom restricts certain functionalities for users, such as not helping with the opening of ports or providing the admin username/password for my router....

Someone recently donated 5 twenty pound turkeys to us. It took a few days for the first one to thaw. I broke it down and got 8 pounds of meat for canning and made a three day stock out of the rest, which just came out of the canner. Four more turkeys to go.

I have an old laptop which didn’t exactly have top of the line specs when I bought it back in 2016. It does, however, run Ubuntu pretty competently (yes I know there are better distros, no I am not going to use them). It was cheap. As in it came with a Celeron in 2016 cheap, so it isn’t the speediest little guy....

I know electricity will take the shortest/easiest path to ground, and that path for a wire wrapped around a bigger wire/cable should be shorting through the bigger wire....

The only Linux questions community I found appears to be locked, so I hope it’s ok to ask here…...
