Arch Stability

I have always been afraid to install Arch because they tell you it is difficult to install and unstable. I want a simple system following the KISS philosophy and install only what I need, which is little. I don’t need anything from the aur repository, for now. Just a year ago I installed Arch and there it is, no problems and...

I had this thought as a kid. But I thought it was neat that we might be part of an atom of some larger molecule. Didn’t keep me awake. I had other trauma keeping me awake, like going to school.

I recently introduced my wife to Quantum Leap. She liked Al’s outfits, and I said that I’d love to have some to wear. She eagerly said she’d get me some. A week later she said she was sorry that all the clothes for men are bland. Oh well.

Will the TV even setup at all if it can’t connect? I expect it’ll stop working until it can talk to the company again.

Spreading election lies (and that’s what these deepfakes are), needs to be a felony, not protected by the 1st amendment.

Why is it so hard to understand that an Unidentified Flying Object is simply something flying that the observer doesn’t know what it is. We know that the aerospace industry makes new planes, and that many of these are secret designs that we don’t have clearance to know about. Thus, many, if not all, UFOs are simply classified aircraft. Simple.

What are your thoughts on Gary Seven? Would you have watched this spinoff had it been given the green light? (lemmy.world)

It’s one of the most bizarre episodes of the original Star Trek, filmed in a way that you could cut out all the Star Trek scenes and be left with a short pilot episode of this “Gary Seven” spinoff. Did it belong in the Star Trek universe? Would it have even worked?...

valen ,

I’d have watched it for a bit to see if it was worth it. I liked the Assignment Earth episode.

When closed captioning for TVs was being rolled out by government mandate in the US, there was widespread anger over having the cost of a TV increase by $0.25 for everyone for a feature that would only help a few. I was sickened by the callousness.

I really want to be able to buy lab grown meat. I want it to be cheaper to grow meat in a lab than raise a cow/chicken and then slaughter it. It is ethically the right thing, as it reduces suffering.

Oh, it’s for North Koreans who vacation in other parts of North Korea. Because they can’t vacation in South Korea.

I hated the decon gel. It was only there for eye candy, and really reduced how good any episode was if it was there.

Obviously, for me. I make no claim to how anyone else felt.

As an atheist, I don’t like religious xmas music. But I love these songs based on the Cthulhu Mythos. The HP Lovecraft Historical Society did a fantastic job on them! I have 2 CDs of xmas holiday music from them (much more than this playlist has), and an adaptation of The Fidder on the Roof called A Shoggoth on the Roof.

Raid 5 is parity, not parody 😀. Each drive contains part of the information of the other drives, so that if any one of the drives dies, you can still get all the information (it will just be slower until you replace it and the system rebuilds the data on the new drive).

To be fair, when she first appeared on screen, I thought she looked like the Sydney Opera House. I don’t know why the costume department wanted everyone to associate the two, and thus start hating on Sydney, but there we go.

Dark mode can be done by changing the template. You can install a new template, or there’s an admin panel to change the colors, and you can get dark mode that way. But it’s true that there’s no dark mode for some and light mode for others option.
