Of course it would have been impossible. One in four climbers on K2 does not make it back. This is a non-story, as tragic as the loss of life may be. 25% mortality rate. You have better odds rolling a die for your life. Punintended.
(I’m not saying they shouldn’t have stopped to help; only that the likelihood of him surviving was near-zero.)
DEATHS ON K2
K2 is considered one of the most difficult climbs. For every four climbers attempting to summit K2, one climber dies. In comparison one in every 20 attempting to climb Mount Everest dies. As of June 2018, only 367 people have completed the ascent of K2 and 86 had died trying. As of 1995 113 people reached the summit of K2 and 48 died. In 1995 seven people were killed in brutal storm that raged for nine days. Thirty kilometers away a rock climber froze to death in a hanging tent. In August 2008, eleven climbers died over two days (See Below), In a 1953 attempt, Art Gilkey was killed, either in an avalanche or in a deliberate attempt to avoid burdening his companions.
Two of us, Ellsberg and Noam Chomsky, testified for Assange at his extradition hearing last year. Hope and optimism are different. Optimism tends to be based on the notion that there’s enough evidence out there to believe things are gonna be better, much more rational, deeply secular, whereas hope looks at the evidence and says, “It doesn’t look good at all. Doesn’t look good at all. Gonna go beyond the evidence to create new possibilities based on visions that become contagious to allow people to engage in heroic actions always against the odds, no guarantee whatsoever.” That’s hope. I’m a prisoner of hope, though. Gonna die a prisoner of hope. -Cornel West
Here ae more quotes, if you are interested: Source where I found the one above.

Take the wins with the losses.
Coming together to learn and teach, like we do on social media, by talking and interacting with people of different views and backgrounds.
This is a more hopeful than ignoring or name calling people we do not agree with.
I don't know what you expect to accomplish with this. If you want to make an argument by example, be prepared to make it exhaustive, otherwise it's simply anecdotal. Anecdotes does not an argument make.
My point is that this is a very subjective realm. You can know all you want about technique and still make a bad movie. And someone who knows nothing can still make a good movie. The odds don't work in their favor, sure, but it's possible. Technique just helps, but it's neither a requirement nor a guarantee. And part of determining whether a film is done well is knowing the film's purpose and theme. Cult classics exist for a reason. They aren't "bad." They're just not popular with folks who didn't get it. You will always be colored by your biases. You can not like a film but that doesn't mean it was unnecessary. You aren't an authority as much as you want to pretend to the throne.
I was in a similar boat to you but never take my wallet anywhere so needed Google Pay. I used to use the options other mentioned like Magisk but odd days it didn’t work after an update meaning NFC didn’t work. I couldn’t risk it so decided to stop using it. I only really needed adblocking and you don’t need root for that anymore.

First Danish #BookOfHours has been added to #Cokldb in Lund Universirt Medeltidshandskrift 35, aka the Karen Ludvigsdatters Tidebog. Undecorated, except for a few crude penwork initials, mostly at the start of an office (see start of the Joys of the BVM on f.66r below)

@medievodons Unlike the prayers, the calendar is in Latin, with only 116 entries. It is rather accurate, though the scribe omitted "15 Kl July" the dominicals are correct and the saints match them. Only one unknown saint on June-3 "Frasini epi". Unsurprisingly King Canute IV of denmark gets an entry in red on July-10 (see f.5r below) with the odd notation "Kanuti regis & mris kentille"

Mostly misunderstandings/miscommunications. Not something like I did a certain thing every time, just a domino kind of thing, otherwise I’d understand a lot more about what exactly is going on. The ease at which people have been able to point to something and say “_____ is why you’re banned” kind of scares me into thinking something deeper is going on. That isn’t to say I can’t map out their supposed reasoning, like with the examples I gave elsewhere in this reply chain. Ironically and oddly I do get unbanned from half of the affected places, like this famous one where I was basically Jesused back onto the world’s strictest website.
Yeah, I know something odd is going on in the backend, but just to let you know, I have no issues with Voyager app regarding sorting of the comments or checking the inbox, not sure if they are using a workaround for this though.
Greetings from the toliet. I’m looking for something like jellyfin for video games where I could look at the art of the game and see the description and download the game through the web portal.
I’ve found it to be very bloated and slow myself. Not to mention it wasn’t able to detect a good chunk of my library. The fact that it requires an app from the Windows Store is super odd too.
The only way I can see switching my Luddite family off of the streaming sites is by making it easier. Up until now, I’ve torrented the old fashioned way, but now I’m moving into plex (ik, ik, jellyfin is better) and want to start using the -arrs. As I understand it, which I’m not sure I do, the -arrs will automatically...
Your question is a little odd, Torrenting “manually” and torrenting with the -arrs is the same in “process” and you will use the same amount of diskspace (not accounting for the programs themselves that is).
Using the -arrs is what make the who torrenting process a little more “automated” as you specify the content you are looking for, and once that content it available the software pulls it from whatever sites or index’s you have provided in your initial setup of the programs.
No more having to look at multiple sites for something, as soon as it’s online the arrr pull it and download it as soon as possible for you.
Sauron was a Maia (lesser primordial spirit), who along with Morgoth (a fallen spirit formally known as Melkor) was at odds with essentially every other spirit and the general concepts of peace and tranquility that were sought by the creators of the universe. After Morgoth was defeated, Sauron inherited the role of the eponymous Dark Lord and sought to rule Middle-Earth in its entirety.
The Wizards were the Istar, a group of Maiar tasked by the Valar (greater spirits) and Manwe (the king of the Valar) to travel to Middle-Earth and aid the Free People in their fight against Sauron. They took the form of elderly men and roamed the lands to counter and subvert Saurons influence. Their mandate prevented them from open conflict, which is why they took on the role of advisors and supporters instead of just fighting Sauron head on or rallying armies to fight him. Their origins were unknown to any of the Free People, but the Elves for sure new that they weren’t just Men - since they lived for thousands of years and had gifts that no mortal Men possessed.
Bombadil is likely another Valar, off in Middle Earth doing his own thing - in ancient ages many of the Valar visited or lived in Middle Earth, so it could be that he didn’t return to Valinor and just hung around. His complete disinterest in intervening in the conflict is one clue, and the fact that he exceeds Sauron in raw power as the One Ring is completely mundane to him, whereas Gandalf fears that it will overpower him, is another.
Google makes something like $100 Billion a year in search ad revenue. 5% of that is $5 Billion.
It’s odd that people think Google is incredibly worried about having too large of a market share in the browser market (which they don’t make any money from) yet their 92% market share in searches is not concerning at all in terms of the potential for regulation.
The truth is nobody does anti-trust anymore (though they definitely should) and the big corporations aren’t worried at all about it. Google makes Chrome, Android, and pays Mozilla because they want to maintain dominance in the search market. Which is the thing they make money form. What they pay Mozilla is a drop in the bucket compared to what they pay Apple to be the default search engine on their devices.
I’ve observed something for awhile, and I’m not quite sure how to explain it.
I work in a hospital. Not part of the clinical staff, I’m in a support role. I’ve listened to some of the clinical staff say extremely odd things given the education they had to go through to get where they are. They had to have absorbed some of the curriculum while in med school, so they had some level of understanding of the science behind it. They are textbook smart, but there seems to be some odd disconnect between what they’ve learned in school and their applied knowledge in the real world. It’s very bizarre and I don’t know if I’m explaining what I mean very well…
Weird when you consider how little Jews we have in Ireland. Like, we only have one tiny Synagogue in Dublin. How exactly are they destroying this country?
He existed. That’s all I’m saying. He probably taught something similar to what’s in the Bible, it’s unlikely to all have been bent by the faithful because that’s not how religions work. People don’t worship Ghandi and then put Stalin in their mouths, or the reverse.
Yet all his records appear only like a hundred years after his alleged death. I don’t find that to be convincing credibility.
Give me one single reason why Jesus’ existence should be judged by a standard different to any of these other people:
Sokrates existed, and we’re similarly unsure of what he taught – but it’s bound to have quite some resemblance to what Plato said about him.
Confucius also existed and we’re absolutely sure of what he taught because he wrote it down.
With Buddha again it’s similar to Jesus and Sokrates: The Pali canon definitely gets the gist of things.
Epictetus? We’re damn sure of what he taught, not because he wrote it down but because we have other people’s lecture notes.
Laozi didn’t exist: The Dao de Jing existed in fragments before it was supposedly written in one go, and tales about his life are completely at odds with each other, and frankly speaking reek of extra chapters to the book. Though it’s not entirely unlikely that it was compiled and polished by one guy, then published under pseudonym – “The old master” yep that’s rather obvious for a compilation of old sayings.
If you want to make some sort of point for Christianity, then you’re in the wrong place.
IDGAF about Christianity. Much, much less than you I even dare claim.
