As far as I know, most journals don’t have a fediverse presence, but do have RSS article feeds. Would accounts that mirror those feeds be something folks would follow or is RSS/email already filling the need?

markigra OP ,
@markigra@sciences.social avatar

Also, I understand there is a account that follows a very large set of folks in the community and re-posts popular/trending material. (If you know what it is - I’d appreciate a pointer). Looking at that account might be a good way to catch up. Would that be interesting for social science?

Today is the 20th anniversary of my attending my very first science fiction convention: Torcon 3 in Toronto. Some memories of that convention, and thoughts on how the world of conventions has changed since then, are up on Whatever today:

'Concerns about the decline of X as a source of reliable information extends beyond the scientific and academic communities. The story of and the Minyades appears in Plutarch's Greek Questions 38 and in the Metamorphoses of both Ovid and Antoninus Liberalis. The daughters of Minyas, Leukippe, Arsippe and Alkathoe were startlingly diligent. They strongly criticised other women for abandoning the city to roam the hills as Bacchantes. Dionysos took on the likeness of a girl and urged the Minyades not to miss out on the rites and mysteries of the god. But they paid him no heed.

Gripped by terror, the maidens threw lots determining that Leukippe had to offer her son as a sacrifice to the god. They tore him to pieces and went into the mountains as Bacchantes until (or Dionysos himself) changed them into .

Discussion around sound & light w/ other ND people sounded like this today.
I have a I can't hear you, the other sound is too distracting, or my body temp or something is too distracting. Light has to be really bright, more often outside, to disrupt. Wind? 🍃 Ugh!
If it's sunlight that's really bright when I'm distressed it can stop me in my tracks.. all sensory stimulation seems to go up & down in impact according to my level of emotional regulation. Sound is So powerful for my state(s).

When it comes to software and apps, it's important to find the one that best suits your needs. The best software and apps can help improve productivity, streamline processes, and simplify complex tasks. But with so many options to choose from, how do you know which is right for you?

At one end of the spectrum, you have big-name software like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop. These are robust tools that offer a full suite of features and require advanced knowledge or training to use them to their fullest potential.

On the other end, you have more specialized tools that are designed to simplify a specific task or process. These typically don't require advanced expertise and are generally easy to use. In the middle, there's a mix of both. Some tools are best for simple tasks, while others might be better for more complex tasks.

When it comes to choosing the best software and apps, it's important to look for features that will simplify your workflow instead of complicating it. Look for tools that are easy to use and understand, and that can integrate with other tools you're already using. Pay attention to customer reviews as well. These can give you valuable insight into how the software or app performs in real world scenarios.
