Hey there fellow mastodoner
when posting to lemmy, your 1st sentence will be the title of the post
any text on the 2nd and next sentences will be part of the body
so I'd suggest placing the @ (tag/mention) after the 1st sentence
I remember earlier today the admin made an announcement post about defederating from burgitt.moe and purging their illicit material from the servers, in order to stay in compliance with Irish law. It’s possible that’s what the downtime is for, but I’m not sure.
I've been trying to solve a problem with my arch (endeavour) instalation and wanted to know if anyone here can help
Everything is working well, excepting the WiFi connection. It is extremely slow, sometimes disconnecting from the network, and in the task bar, the WiFi icon shows that the signal strength is weak, although the router is in the same room. Switching between r8168 and r8169 as recommended doesnt work. Any ideas?
@Rustmilian@linux Yeah, it's close to impossible to find documentation on what to do here. I'm trying to find out how is it that Fedora works well with the same hardware, and even considering changing the card itself, but for the moment at least my connection is much more stable after setting the iwlwifi.conf file
Once again, thank you for your help!
Having been there, it’s so strange to see her in that space and to recognize it even though it has changed so much. When she says “this must be an early version of the Smithsonian” I almost felt like I was time traveling back there with her.
"In the waning days of the Cold War, Rainer Sonntag helped fuel a neo-Nazi movement that still plagues Germany today. He was also a Communist spy—and worked for Vladimir Putin."
Nope we have a big Nazi problem and most of us learn that the only right way to go about it is to be very self critical with our history and to call those racist dipshits out whenever we can

That’s a hell of a statement. I wish I could show you how wrong you are. Just look at the origin of our past terrorist attacks and you will see a trend and a priority list for us.
If you look close enough to all the bullshit destabilising western countries, there’s always Russian influence at the end of the string.
Even Trump election was made with Russian influence, which caused a huge division in the west. That’s the type of strategy they used in countries like Ukraine (worked until they launched a full invasion).
@ajsadauskas@technology I got burned when they axed Wave but axing their video conferencing apps on their video conferencing box is really next level. 🫠
Yup, they’re like me, but they actually finish them. But if I ever finish something, you can bet I’m not going to just throw it away a few years later.
@T156@z3n0x this is not something I had considered. I’m from the USA, we’ve got the best toilets to sit on for our pee pees and poo poos. Would love some insight into what the equivalent for the squat toilet regions.
Given Trek fandom are often the first colonizers of online spaces in internet history (eg newsgroups) losing major Star Trek communities is big L for Reddit.
EDIT: Not permamently locked subreddits, got that wrong I think!
Sounds like mods there are toxic. Not best for vast majority of people who want to know which Trek is good and which Trek is not so good.
edit: Didn’t even know this was posted to startrek.website. I am not subscribed there so I don’t know why I even saw it. Also, what is the reason for pointing out this forum exists inside this forum?
Can’t wait till they bring up a ShittyDaystrom. I’ve got a post brewing about how the Federation wouldn’t exist without disgusting Ferengi sex programs. It’s way too long and snooty for Risa, and far too ridiculous for the actual Daystrom. :(
What's a good, cheap, no external power GPU to buy for VMs? Want to chuck a few in my Dell R730 server to make my desktop VMs more usable. Right now have an old K620 for a Windows VM, seems like 1030s are a good bet since I have a bunch of low profile slots I otherwise have no use for.
@TrenchcoatFullofBats I think this is the winning answer. Looks like it's about a 1060 6GB, which should be enough horsepower for several desktop VMs, and keeps open my full profile slots should I ever want to install something even more powerful in the future. vGPU support is also nice so I don't have to juggle which VM gets which GPU.
One of several secondary reasons why making a Fediverse reference on Place is so hard to maintain is that the Fediverse is built for far less uniformity and tribe mindset.
Edit, I did say one of several secondary reasons. I have no illusion that I've spotted the #1 main reason.
@guy_threepwood
Agreed. The tribe mindset on display shows me how users who love reddit as it is are not a good fit for the Fediverse. Maybe less advertising to that crowd is a good thing.
